Mathematical Analysis of Peristaltic Pumps for Fene-P model subject to Hall and Joule impact

A mathematical model is developed to discuss the impact of the Hall current and the Joule heating on the peristaltic flux of finitely extensible nonlinear elastic Peterlin (FENE-P) fluid in a tapered tube with mild stenosis. The fluid movement  along the wall surface resulted from the sinusoidal wave flowing with constant speed. Conditions of velocity and thermal slip are applied. Lubrication approximation is adopted to modify the governing flow problem. To discover the solution to a system of equations, the regular perturbation approach is used. The effects of the different physical parameters are debated and graphically shown in a set of figures. It is discovered that as the Hall current parameter is increased and the Hartman number is decreased, the fluid velocity increases. It is  also worth noting that the Dufour number causes the fluid temperature to rise, whilst the Hall current parameter causes the temperature to fall. In the meantime, both the Hall current parameter and the Soret number have the opposite effect on concentration. The trapping phenomenon is thoroughly investigated.

An Experimental Study of Granular Material Using Recycled Concrete Waste for Pavement Roadbed Construction

Rapid worldwide urbanization and drastic population growth have increased the demand for new road construction, which will cause a substantial amount of natural resources such as aggregates to be consumed. The use of recycled concrete aggregate could be one of the possible ways to offset the aggregate shortage problem and reduce environmental pollution. This paper reports an experimental study of unbound granular material using recycled concrete aggregate for pavement subbase construction. Five percentages of recycled concrete aggregate obtained from two different sources with an originally designed compressive strength of 20–30 MPa as well as 31–40 MPa at three particle size levels, i.e., coarse, fine, and extra fine, were test

Prediction of Daily Maximum Air Temperature for Transitional Seasons by Statistical Methods in Baghdad

Predicting the maximum temperature is of great importance because it is related to various aspects of life, starting from people’s lives and their comfort, passing through the medical, industrial, agricultural and commercial fields, as well as concerning global warming and what can result from it. Thus, the historical observations of maximum and minimum air temperature, wind speed and relative humidity were analyzed in this work. In Baghdad, the climatic variables were recorded on clear sky days dawn at 0300 GMT for the period between (2005-2020). Using weather station's variables multiple linear regression equation, their correlation coefficients were calculated to predict the daily maximum air temperature for any day during

Efficacy of lumbar interlaminar epidural steroid injections for lumbar spinal stenosis: A prospective study

Objective: To study the effect of epidural spinal injection over one year in case of spinal stenosis. Methodology: This prospective study included 566 patients with spinal stenosis seen at Al-Kindy Teaching and Al-Sader, Hospitals who were treated by local epidural steroid injection. They were followed up for at least five subsequent visits after seven days, one month, three months, six months, and one year to assess efficacy. Result: Mean age of patients was 49.5 years, with a predominance of females (65%). L4/L5 was the most involved level in the spinal stenosis (70%). Grade II stenosis accounted for (45.4%) of cases. The pairwise comparison revealed that there was significant decrease in proportions of patients with pain in day

Downlink Training Design for FDD Massive MIMO Systems in the Presence of Colored Noise

Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MaMi) systems have attracted much research attention during the last few years. This is because MaMi systems are able to achieve a remarkable improvement in data rate and thus meet the immensely ongoing traffic demands required by the future wireless networks. To date, the downlink training sequence (DTS) for the frequency division duplex (FDD) MaMi communications systems have been designed based on the idealistic assumption of white noise environments. However, it is essential and more practical to consider the colored noise environments when designing an efficient DTS for channel estimation. To this end, this paper proposes a new DTS design by exploring the joint use of spatial channel and n

Implementation of a Circular Shape Patch Antenna at 2.4 GHz for Different Wireless Communications

In this work, the circular patch antenna was fabricated and analyzed. Microwave Studio (version 2019) computer simulation technology (CST) was used to design the circular patch antenna. The material FR-4 was used to build this antenna, using the computer numerical control (CNC) method to implement this work. For the purpose of accomplishing this design, the values of the resonant frequency, dielectric constant and dielectric thickness of the material used as in 4.424, 2.4 GHz and 0.159 cm respectively were used as inputs to the CST program to get the said program outputs for the required antenna radius with the logarithmic function (F) of the circular patch antenna 1.6909 cm and 1.7415 cm respectively. Practically, the b

Designing Raw Mix for Manufacturing Portland Cement using Euphrates Formation Marl Instead of Clays

Portland Cement is manufactured by adding 3% gypsum to clinker which is produced by grinding, pulverizing, mixing, and then burning a raw mix of silica, and calcium carbonate. Limestone is the main source of carbonates, while clay collected from arable land is the main source of silica. The marl in the Euphrates Formation was studied as an alternative to arable lands. Nine boreholes drilled and penetrated the marl layer in selected locations at the Kufa cement quarry. Forty-one samples of marl from boreholes and four samples of limestone from the closed area were collected. The chemical content of the major oxides and the hardness of the marl layer was very encouraging as a raw material for Portland Cement as they are SiO2 (17.60),

Reservoir Characteristics for Khasib Formation in selected wells of East Baghdad Oil field, Iraq

Four subsurface sections and electrical, porosity logs, and gamma-ray logs of the Khasib Formation (age Late Turonian-Lower Coniacian) were studied to identify reservoir characteristics and to evaluate the reservoir properties of the Khasib reservoir units in the East Baghdad oilfield. The lithology of the formation is limestone throughout the whole sequence in all studied wells EB-83, EB-87, EB-92, and EB94. It is bounded conformably from the top by Tanuma Formation and has a conformable lower contact with Kifl Formation. The lower and upper boundaries of the formation were determined using well log analysis, and the formation was divided into three main rock units (Kh1, Kh2, and Kh3), depending on the porosity logs. The porosi

Performance of Electro-Fenton Process for Phenol Degradation Using Nickel Foam as a Cathode

Toxic substances have been released into water supplies in recent decades because of fast industrialization and population growth. Fenton electrochemical process has been addressed to treat wastewater which is very popular because of its high efficiency and straightforward design. One of the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) is electro-Fenton (EF) process, and electrode material significantly affects its performance. Nickel foam was chosen as the source of electro-generated hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) due to its good characteristics. In the present study, the main goals were to explore the effects of operation parameters (FeSO4 concentration, current density, and electrolysis time) on the catalytic performance that was optimized by r
