Twenty four samples of various granites and marble used common as flooring materials were collected from many factories and market in Baghdad Province, Iraq. Natural radioactivity of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in the samples was measured by using high purity germanium detectors with an efficiency of 40%. The Specific activity concentration in granite samples ranged from 9.20 to 79.64 Bq/kg, 10.50 to 229.40 Bq/kg and 185.30 to 1391.20 Bq/kg for 226Ra, 232Th and 40K, respectively. The estimated of radiological parameters: radium equivalent activity (Req), activity concentration Index (I) and hazard indices (internal (Hin) and External (Hex)) that associated with the radiation hazard in the samples. The results of activity specific concentrations and radiological parameters of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were compared with the reported data of the worldwide limit of building materials.

Two species of monogenetic trematodes of the genus Dactylogyrus were recorded in the present paper for the first time in Iraq from two freshwater fishes from Diyala river, Diyala province. The first species, D. bocageii Alvarez Pellitero, Vicente et Gonzalez Lanza, 1981 was recorded from gills of Aspius vorax, the second species, D. lenkorani Mikailov, 1967 was recorded from gills of Barbus sharpeyi. The descriptions and measurements of these parasites as well as their illustrations were given.

In this study, a bioadhesive dosage form of eoconazole nitrate for vaginal delivery was designed using a combination of bioadhesive polymers: Carbopol 941 p and sodium carboxymethylcellulose or methylcellulose in different ratios. The bioadhesive strength was evaluated by measuring the force required to detach the tablet from sheep vaginal mucosal membrane. It was found that the bioadhesive force was directly proportional to Carbopol 941 p content in the different formulae. ... Show MoreSince oil is the primary source of vanadium in the environment and crude oil has a correspondingly high percentage of vanadium. Vanadium is crucial as a sign of oil contamination. Twenty soil samples were taken from various locations surrounding the East Baghdad oil field in Iraq during February 2022 and then analyzed to determine the effects of industrialization along with urbanization-related pollutants. The soil samples were analyzed using spectrophotometry analysis. In soil samples taken from the research area, vanadium concentrations range from (0.26 to 1.2 ppm). The contamination (CF), geoaccumulation (Igeo) and Enrichment factors (EF) indicated that all the soil samples are uncontaminated.
