Theoretical Biosensor Design for Gold- PVA Surface Plasmon Resonance Layers

. Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technology has been adapted to produce a sensitive optical sensor and Biosensor applications. Simulation analysis ( in Matlab) has been made for SPR for gold (Au) layer with thickness (40 nm) and Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) polymer with various thickness (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 nm) deposited on glass prism type D-ZLAF50_Dense lanthanum flint. The sensitive layer was air (n=1). The analysis was taken for different wavelengths from Ultra-Violet wavelength 100 nm to Near Infra- Red wavelength 1000 nm. The properties of θSPR have been calculated from plotted reflectance against incident angle θincid.. The SPR sensitivity (S) was calculated. The results give efficient detection in change of sensitive layer refractive index (0, 0.04, 0.08 and 0.12), and obtained the maximum sensitivity 207.5 for thickness of PVA 40 nm and 50 nm, ∆n= 0.08 at wavelength 800nm and 1000nm, respectively.  The best sensitivity in visible region (700 nm) is 158.33 for thickness 20nm, ∆n= 0.12.

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Simulation of a Gold-Bismuth Bi-layer Gas Sensor

The features of plasmonic surface frequency sensor technology, such as the small number of sensor samples required, electromagnetic interference, and high sensitivity, have been found to be highly important.. In this paper, a simulation program was created in Matlab_b2018 by adopting Fresnel equations for calculating the reflectivity of the electromagnetic wave between different media. A surface plasmon resonance sensor based on electromagnetic wavelengths within the range (100 nm to 1000 nm) has been proposed. The transfer matrix was used for a system consisting of four different media. The first medium is a semicircular BK7 glass prism, the second medium is a gold layer (40 nm thick), then a bismuth layer of variable thickne

Surface Plasmon Resonance study of Ag nanoparticles colloidal

Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) have been prepared using the electro-chemical
method. The experimental setup of this technique consist of two electrodes of pure
silver (99.2 %), the applied voltage on the electrodes is 20 V and the current through
the colloidal was about 0.4 Amp. The silver nanoparticles crystallization has been
studied; the crystalline structure appears Face center Cubic. The optical properties of
silver nanoparticles are strongly affected by the Local Surface Plasmon Resonance
(LSPR). The wavelength of maximum absorption band for an Ag NPs have a range
(~350nm-550nm).

Optical Fiber Biomedical Sensor Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance

Optical fiber biomedical sensor based on surface plasmon resonance for measuring and sensing the concentration and the refractive index of sugar in blood serum is designed and implemented during this work. Performance properties such as signal to noise ratio (SNR), sensitivity, resolution and the figure of merit were evaluated for the fabricated sensor. It was found that the sensitivity of the optical fiber-based SPR sensor with 40 nm thick and 10 mm long Au metal film of the exposed sensing region is 7.5µm/RIU, SNR is 0.697, figure of merit is 87.2 and resolution is 0.00026. The sort of optical fiber utilized in this work is plastic optical fiber with a core diameter of 980 µm, a cladding of 20μm, and a numerical aperture of 0.

Photonic Crystal Fiber Pollution Sensor based on Surface Plasmon Resonance

In this work, a pollution-sensitive Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) based on Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technology is designed and implemented for sensing refractive indices and concentrations of polluted  water . The overall construction of the sensor is achieved by splicing short lengths of PCF (ESM-12) solid core on one side with traditional multimode fiber (MMF) and depositing a gold nanofilm of 50nm thickness on the end of the PCF sensor. The PCF- SPR experiment was carried out with various samples of polluted water including(distilled water, draining water, dirty pond water, chemical water, salty  water and oiled water). The location of the resonant wavelength peaks is seen to move to longer wavelengths (red shift)

Surface Plasmon Plastic Optical Fiber Resonance with Multi-Layer as Chemical Sensor

A chemical optical fiber sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was developed and implemented using multimode plastic optical fiber. The sensor is used to detect and measure the refractive index and concentration of various chemical materials (Urea, Ammonia, Formaldehyde and Sulfuric acid) as well as to evaluate the performance parameters such as sensitivity, signal to noise ratio, resolution and figure of merit. It  was noticed that the value of the sensitivity of the optical fiber-based SPR sensor, with 60nm and 10 mm long, Aluminum(Al) and Gold (Au) metals film exposed sensing region, was 4.4 μm, while the SNR was 0.20, figure of merit was 20 and resolution 0.00045. In this work a multimode

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)-Based Multimode Optical Fiber Sensors for Electrical Transformer Oil Aging Detection

I

In this study, optical fibers were designed and implemented as a chemical sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) to estimate the age of the oil used in electrical transformers. The study depends on the refractive indices of the oil. The sensor was created by embedding the center portion of the optical fiber in a resin block, followed by polishing, and tapering to create the optical fiber sensor. The tapering time was 50 min. The multi-mode optical fiber was coated with 60 nm thickness gold metal. The deposition length was 4 cm. The sensor's resonance wavelength was 415 nm. The primary sensor parameters were calculated, including sensitivity (6.25), signal-to-noise ratio (2.38), figure of merit (4.88), and accuracy (3.2)

Photonic Crystal Fiber Pollution Sensor Based on the Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology

Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) based on the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) effect has been proposed to detect polluted water samples. The sensing characteristics are illustrated using the finite element method. The right hole of the right side of PCF core has been coated with chemically stable gold material to achieve the practical sensing approach. The performance parameter of the proposed sensor is investigated in terms of wavelength sensitivity, amplitude sensitivity, sensor resolution, and linearity of the resonant wavelength with the variation of refractive index of analyte. In the sensing range of 1.33 to 1.3624, maximum sensitivities of 1360.2 nm ∕ RIU and 184 RIU−1 are achieved with the high sensor resolutions of 7

Arsenic Detection Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor With Hydrous Ferric Oxide Layer
Abstract<p>The lethality of inorganic arsenic (As) and the threat it poses have made the development of efficient As detection systems a vital necessity. This research work demonstrates a sensing layer made of hydrous ferric oxide (Fe2H2O4) to detect As(III) and As(V) ions in a surface plasmon resonance system. The sensor conceptualizes on the strength of Fe2H2O4 to absorb As ions and the interaction of plasmon resonance towards the changes occurring on the sensing layer. Detection sensitivity values for As(III) and As(V) were 1.083 °·ppb−1 and 0.922 °·ppb<jats></jats></p> ... Show More
