CART_based Approach for Discovering Emerging Patterns in Iraqi Biochemical Dataset
...Show More Authors

This paper is intended to apply data mining techniques for real Iraqi biochemical dataset to discover hidden patterns within tests relationships. It is worth noting that preprocessing steps take remarkable efforts to handle this type of data, since it is pure data set with so many null values reaching a ratio of 94.8%, then it becomes 0% after achieving these steps. However, in order to apply Classification And Regression Tree (CART) algorithm, several tests were assumed as classes, because of the dataset was unlabeled. Which then enabled discovery of patterns of tests relationships, that consequently, extends its impact on patients’ health, since it will assist in determining test values by performing only relevant tests. Therefore decreases the number of tests for patients.

Comparison in Some Biochemical and Hematological Tests Between Chronic Hepatitis B and C
...Show More Authors

Chronic viral hepatitis is an important health problem in the world, where hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections are the main causes of liver insufficiency. The study included 100 blood samples from patients with chronic viral hepatitis, fifty of them with HBV infection and 50 with HCV infection. Twenty apparently healthy age and gender matched subjects were included as a control group. Out of the 50 patients with HBV, 36(72%) were males and 14(28%) were females. Thirty two (64%) patients with HCV were males and 18(36%) were females. The mean age for HBV patients was 36.9 ± 15.8 year and for HCV patients it was 39.9 ±14.2 year.  The results of the liver function tests showed no significant differ

Background: Few Studies had been done on the role of histopathology in the medico-legal diagnosis of Electrocution even abroad.
Aim of the study: To determine the main histopathlogical features in cases of electrocution especially at the entry site of the electrical current which help in the diagnosis of those cases.
Methods: A full medico-legal autopsy had been done on 64 cadavers of persons died as a result of electrocution chosen randomly out of a total number of 144 cases of electrocution
during the year 2005 in the medico-legal institute of Baghdad including histopathological examination by ordinary method of different specimens from those cadavers at histopathology

Ameliorative Potentials of Quercetin in Some Histo-Physiological and Biochemical Parameters Against Alterations Induced Benzene Inhalation in Albino Rats
...Show More Authors

Present study investigates the protective role of quercetin in reducing benzene-induced toxicity in rats. Sixteen adult rats, weighing 200-250 g, were selected. They were divided into four groups: 1. Control group, 2. Benzene inhaled group, 3. Quercetin group and 4. Group of benzene and quercetin in combination. Biochemical, spermatological parameters, and histopathological changes in lungs were recorded. Results of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), urea and creatinine levels in the serum of rats were higher in benzene exposed rats than in unexposed rats. Conversely, exposure to benzene led to a decrease in sperm quality compared to the unexposed rats. Histopathological

Prevalence And Antimicrobial Susceptibility Patterns Of Bacteria Isolated From Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) In Children At Children Hospital In Baghdad
...Show More Authors

Background: First six to twelve months after initial urinary tract infection, most infections are caused by Escherichiacoli, although in the first year of life Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas, Enterobacter spp andEnterococcus spp, are more frequent than later in life, and there is a higher risk of urosepsis compared with adulthood

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of bacterial isolates from Urinary Tract Infections of children at a children hospital in Baghdad and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns.

Type of the study: Cross-sectional study.

Methods: During six months of study (1 June to 31 Dece

Nasopharyngeal Dimensions in Relation to Some Dento-Cranial Variables in Class I and II Skeletal Patterns (A Comparative Cephalometric Study)
...Show More Authors

Background: The size of the nasopharyngeal airway was believed to have an important role in the development of the dentofacial structure. This study was carried out to test the relation between the nasopharyngeal dimensions with some dento-cranial measurements in class I and II jaw relationship. Materials and Methods: This study was done on 60 subjects (30 males and 30 females) at age range 18-25 years. Cephalometric radiograph has been taken to each subject and the measurements were recorded. The sample was divided into two groups, class I skeletal relationship (15 males and 15 females) and class II skeletal relationship (15 males and 15 females). Comparisons between the different study groups were undertaken. Results: In class I skeletal

Serological Patterns of Hepstitis B Virus Among HBsAg Negative Blood Donors in Baghdad, Iraq by Using Architect System
...Show More Authors

Background: About 10-15% of population HBV infection becomes chronic, and 85-90% are resolved. In Iraq, HBs-Ag assay by ELISA is only mandatory test for detection of HBV infection in blood donors. Anti- HBc and anti-HBs were not detectable in their sera.
Objective: To investigate the distribution of serological patterns for HBV who were HBsAg negative.
Material and method: Between July 18, 2011 to December 25, 2011, 10ml of blood samples were collected from National blood Transfusion Center donors, Baghdad, for 25782 individuals (25294 male, 488 female), mean age (20-65)years. HbsAg positive sera excluded (185), and final number of donors included in the
study was 25597 HbsAg negative.
Result: The data sho
