The reservoir characteristics of the Pre-Santonian Eze-Aku sandstone were assessed using an integrated thin section petrography and SEM Back-Scattered Electron (BSE) imaging methods. Fresh outcrop data were collected in the Afikpo area (SE Nigeria). Twenty-eight representative samples from the different localities were analysed to obtain mineralogical and petrographical datasets germane for reservoir characterisation. Thin section petrography indicates that the sandstones are medium-grained, have an average Q90F10L0 modal composition, and are classified as mainly sub-arkose. The sandstones on SEM reveal the presence of cement in the form of quartz overgrowths, authigenic clays and feldspar. From epoxy-stained thin sections and/or SEM BSE image analysis, primary, secondary (inferred from partial to total feldspar dissolution/alteration), and micro- (in authigenic clays) porosity types were identified. Although the development of quartz overgrowths, authigenic clay precipitation, and feldspar dissolution often affect reservoir properties of sandstone negatively, the Eze-Aku sandstones still retained very good reservoir properties (porosity, average 22.7 %; permeability, average 745.43 mD). This can be attributed to the abundance of framework grains that have been stabilized by quartz cement and relatively limited feldspar dissolution. The stabilized framework grains help preserve reservoir characteristics and resist further compaction beyond eogenetic depths. The feldspar dissolution produced silica and aluminium that was precipitated to form the quartz overgrowths and the authigenic clays (e.g., kaolinite), respectively. The relatively concurrent precipitation of silica and aluminium from dissolution products reduces the quartz overgrowth quantity and authigenic clays that could have adversely affected the reservoir characteristics.
The groundwater represents the main source of water in the study area due to lack of surface water. The Dammam unconfined aquifer represents the main aquifer in the study area and Southern desert because of the regional extent, the quantity and quality of water. Many groundwater wells have been drilled in the study area to coverage the huge demand of water for agricultural purposes. The Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to estimate the volume of water which calculated (25.6964 × 109 m3) within the study area , automate calculation of the area of Al Salman basin using digital elevation models, derive the thickness maps of Al

A 3D geological model is an essential step to reveal reservoir heterogeneity and reservoir properties distribution. In the present study, a three-dimensional geological model for the Mishrif reservoir was built based on data obtained from seven wells and core data. The methodology includes building a 3D grid and populating it with petrophysical properties such as (facies, porosity, water saturation, and net to gross ratio). The structural model was built based on a base contour map obtained from 2D seismic interpretation along with well tops from seven wells. A simple grid method was used to build the structural framework with 234x278x91 grid cells in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively, with lengths equal to 150 meters. The to

Therefore, drilling operations in the depleted reservoir faced several problems like partial and total lost circulation. Continuing production without an active water drive or water injection to support reservoir pressure will decrease the pore and fracture pressure. Moreover, this depletion will affect the distribution of stress and change the mud weight window. This study focused on vertical stress, maximum and minimum horizontal stress redistributions in the depleted reservoirs due to decreases in pore pressure and, consequently, the effect on the mud weight window. 1D and 4D robust geomechanical models are
Records of two regionalized variables were processed for each of porosity and permeability of reservoir rocks in Zubair Formation (Zb-109) south Iraq as an indication of the most important reservoir property which is the homogeneity , considering their important results in criterion most needed for primary and enhanced oil reservoir .Z and F tests that were calculated for the two above mentioned properties of pair units of Zubair Formation have shown the difference in depositional energy and different diagenesis between units IL and AB , DJ and AB , and the similarity in grains size , sorting degree , depositional environment and pressure gradients between IL and AB units , LS and IL units ; also the difference in the properties above betw

In Subba and Luhais fields the formation began with barrier YB-1 and four more barriers (YB-2, YB-3, YB-4, YB-5), separated five reservoirs (YR-A, YR-B, YR-C, YR-D, YR-E) ranging in thickness from 70 to 80 m for each of them deposited by five sedimentary cycles. In the Ratawi field the formation was divided into three reservoir units (YR-A, YR-B, and YR-C) separated by two barrier units (YB-2 and YB-3), the first cycle is missing in Ratawi field.
The study involves 1 well in Luhais field (Lu-12), 3 wells in Subba field (Su-7, Su-8, and Su-9), and 5 wells in Ratawi fi

Protecting and maintaining groundwater is a difficult process, but it is very important to maintain an important source of water. The current study aims to assess the susceptibility of groundwater to pollution using the DRASTIC model along with the GIS environments and its tool boxes. A vulnerability map was created by relying on data collected from 55 wells surveyed by the researchers as well as archived records from governmental institutions and some international organizations. The results indicate that the region falls into three vulnerability functional zones , namely
