Influence of Acid Activation of a Mixture of Illite, Koalinite, and Chlorite Clays on the Adsorption of Methyl Violet 6B Dye

The influence of acid activation of a mixture of illite, kaolinite, and chlorite clays collected from the area of Zorbatiya (east of Iraq) on the adsorption of methyl violet 6B (MV6B) as a cationic dye was studied. The activation was carried out by using 0.25M HCl and 0.25M . Raw and acid-activated clays were analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Batch adsorption method was used to study the adsorption of MV6B onto the raw and acid activated clays. The impacts of different factors on the adsorption process were studied, such as clay weight, agitation time, starting MV6B concentration, temperature, ionic strength, and solution pH. The adsorption process was described by using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin- Radushkevich isotherm models. Thermodynamic parameters like  were estimated based on Vanʼt Hoff equation.

Removing Cobalt ions from Industrial Wastewater Using Chitosan

      In batch experiments, a natural chitosan adsorbent was employed to extract cobalt ions from industrial wastewater under varied parameters of starting concentration, adsorbent weight, pH, and contact duration. The adsorbent was examined using FTIR, XRD, and AFM. For an initial cobalt ion concentration of 5x10-2 mol/l at pH 6, time 35 minutes, temperature 25 °C, and adsorbing dose 0.1 g, the results showed a maximum removal percentage of 99.0 percent. The Freundlich isotherm and the pseudo-second order kinetic model both suit the experimental data well. According to thermodynamic studies, the process was spontaneous and endothermic.

The aim of present investigation was Litilizing cow, sheep and chicken bones that included both hollow and flat to produce fat. The extraction rat was increased propotionally with rising temperature and extraction time for both cow and sheep bones. The lowest extraction rat form hollow and flat bones for cow and sheep was 12.66, 6.55, 6.93 and 7% respectively at 60°C for 3 hours. The highest extraction rat for hollow cow bones was 21.90% at 90°C for 5 houers, values for flat cow bones, hollow and flat sheep bones was 15.04, 16.4 and 12.8% respectively at 100°C for 5 hours. Thyme Extract as Corrosion Inhibitor for Teeth Filler Alloy in Saliva Media

In this work the study mainly investigated the inhibition behavior, and the adsorption properties of different concentrations of an aqueous extraction of thyme plant range (5-20) ppm at the temperature range (288-318) K for corrosion of dental amalgam in artificial saliva, by applying electrochemical method. The result showed good inhibitive action for all thyme extract concentration with slight decreases by increasing temperature. The physisorption for thyme extract compound on the surface of dental amalgam obeys Langmuir isotherm. The kinetic parameter for corrosion process and thermodynamic data for adsorption process has been calculated.
