Two isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from patients with Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial effect of alcoholic leaves extract of Salvia officinalis on Multidrug resistant (MDR) P. aeruginosa. Using the well diffusion test, the alcoholic leaves extract at 100mg/ml and 200 mg /ml was shown to possess antimicrobial activity against the tested microorganism. The inhibition zones of S. officinalis at 200 mg/ml, and 100 mg/ml of the extract showed diameters of 23mm and 20mm, respectively. But the diameters of the inhibition zones caused by treatment with the antibiotics Ciprofloxacin, Ticarcillin + Clavulanic acid, and Cefotaxime were 28mm, 27mm, and 25mm) for both isolates, respectively. The results indicate that P. aeruginosa was resistant to most antibiotics of different groups used in this study. It was found that the isolates were Multidrug Resistant (MDR) by sensitivity test. The results of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), by using E-test strips, showed that MIC of Cefoxitin was 4µg/ml for P. aeruginosa 1, but P. aeruginosa 2 was resistant. MIC value for Cefoperazone was 8µg/ml against P. aeruginosa 1, whereas P. aeruginosa 2 was resistant. MIC value was also determined for the alcoholic leaves extract against P. aeruginosa, showing a value of 100 mg/ml, while the plant extract also had synergistic effects with Ciprofloxacin, Cefotaxime, and Ticarcillin+ Clavulanic Acid. It can be concluded that the alcoholic leaves extract of S. officinalis had considerable antimicrobial effects on MDR P. aeruginosa. Thus, it can be used instead of antibiotics for the treatment of UTI caused by MDR P. aeruginosa to reduce the side effects of antibiotics. On the contrary, its use with antibiotics enhances their action without interfere with them.
This study ,the samples were collected from "118 patients " suffering from burn wound contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 100 health individuals (male and female ) as a control group ,the samples were wound swap and blood sample . Chromatography technique was employed to extract and purify cell wall containing lipopolysaccharide by using P. aeruginosa isolate ATCC 15692,the purification done by addition of ammonuium sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfat (SDS) anddialysis, gel filtration chromatography by using sepharose-4B. Immunogenicity of LPS component was determined by mice injection under the skin ,then Ab concentration agai

In this study, we investigate the link between resistance to a clinically important antibiotic, imipenem, and biofilm formation. First, we observed that the laboratory strain P. aeruginosa PAO1 carrying a mutation in the oprD gene, which confers resistance to imipenem, showed a modest reduction in biofilm formation. We also observed an inverse relationship between imipenem resistance and biofilm formation for imipenem-resistant strains selected in vitro, as well as for clinical isolates. We identified two clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa from the sputum

The optimum pH for staphylolysin A activity was found to be 8 which gives higher activity reaches 150 unit/ml, and for enzyme stability was 7.5-8.5 in which the enzyme nearly retained its full activity, while it was 9.5 for staphylolysin D that gives higher activity of 16 unit/ml,and 8.5-9.5 for enzyme stability in which the enzyme nearly retained its full activity, Maximum activity of two enzymes was obtained at 40C in which the specific activity for st

All cotton swabs are cultured initially on blood agar and MacConkey agar and subjected for standard bacteriological procedures for bacteriological diagnosis. Twenty samples out of sixty are identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by conventional methods. The results of antibiotic susceptibility test illustrate that the antibiotics resistance rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates is as follows:100% (2020) for ceftriaxone, cefepime and carbencillin, 70% (14/20) for amikacin, 65%(13/20) for tobramycin, ceftazidim and gentamycin,

Peroxidase is found in many common sources like plants, animals and microbes and have extensive uses in numerous industries such as industrial, medical and food processing. In this study, P. aeruginosa was harvested to utilize and study its peroxidases. P. aeruginosa was isolated from a burn patient, and the isolate was verified as P. aeruginosa using staining techniques, biochemical assay, morphological, and a sensitivity test. The gram stain and biochemical test result show rod pink gram-ne

While it can be isolated in low numbers from a wide variety of environments including soil and water, it can readily be found in almost any human/animal-impacted environment. It is a major cause of illness and death in humans with immunosuppressive and chronic conditions, and infections in these patients are difficult to treat due to a number of antibiotic resistance mechanisms and the organism’s propensity to form multicellular biofilms. One hundred twenty clinical samples and forty hospital environmental samples (various sources) were collected from hospitals in Baghdad city during the period from Oc

For this purpose, 1% and 2% concentration of each of glucose and sodium chloride were used to test the biofilm formation potential of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which were the most common abundant bacteria that cause infection by biofilm. Each of the concentrations was kept in contact with the pathogenic bacteria for 24 hours. After the period of incubation, the concentration of 1% of glucose enhanced moderate biofilm formation capacity for (66% and 80%) on both bacteria respectively. The concentration of 2% glucose, on the other hand, led to a weak biofilm fo
