Determination of Magnitudes and Orientation of the Paleostress of Bekhme Structure in Shaqlawa area, Northerneastern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study presents the determination of the paleostress magnitudes and orientation of Bekhme Structure in Shaqlawa area, northeastern Iraq. Paleostress analysis of slip-fault measurements is performed using Right dihedral, Lisle diagram, and Mohr Circles methods. Depending on Mohr Circles, Bott law, and vertical thickness, the magnitudes of the paleostress at the time of the tectonic activity were determined. Firstly, Georient Software was used to estimate the orientation of the paleostresses (σ1, σ2, and σ3). Secondly, using the rupture –friction law, taking into account the depth of the overburden and the vertical stress (σv),the magnitudes of the paleostresses were calculated (σ1=4500 bars, σ2=1900 bars and σ3=700 bars).  The high magnitudes of the principal stress axes may be attributed to the active tectonic events which led to the deformation of the area during the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods. The study area shows that the poles of the measured faults lie in the reactivated area of Mohr circles. This indicates the instability of the study area.  The study area is estimated to have high importance, due to the possibility of the existence of deposited hydrocarbons. Fold- Thrust belt marks the deformation fronts of the major orogeny that forms from the collision of the Arabian Plate with the Turkish and Iranian Plates.

The goal of this study  was intend to study the effects of induced

thyrotoxicosis on the histological structure of submandibular gland.

Two groups of mature albino mice wen: used, the first group was injected (subcutaneous) daily  with  (0.2_0.4)ml  norma] salinfor 11 days and used as control group, while the second group was injected daily wi th L_thyroxin (T4) 0.2mg /Kg (subcutaneous) for l l days.

At  the  end  of   the  treatment  , supmandibular  glands      were processed for light microscopic examination .

The result.s have shown the   presence of degenertaive changes of major submandibular acini cells in anima

Spectrophotometric Determination of Promethazine Hydrochloride by In (III)
...Show More Authors

A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometirc method for the determination of trace amounts of promethazine hydrochloride in the aqueous solution is described. The method is based on the complexation of promethazine hydrochloride with In (III) in the presence of sodium hydroxide to form an soluble product with maximum absorption at 304nm. Beer’s law is obeyed over the concentration range of (2- 20μg/ml) with molar absorptivity of (1.92× 103 L.mol-1 .cm -1 ). The optimum conditions for all development are described and the proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of promethazine hydrochloride in bulk drug.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Amiodarone Hydrochloride in Pharmaceutical Preparations

Amiodarone hydrochloride (AH) has been determined spectrophotometrically Using methyl orange (MO).  In our previous researches MO was used for determination of Mexiletine Hydrochloride [1]. The method based on complexation between MO and AH.  After shaking and diluting the complex solution with D.W, the pH was adjusted with NaOH and HCl to pH 3. The colored complex formed between AH and the reagent were transferred into separating funnels and extracted using 5.5ml CH2Cl2 and were shaken for (5 minutes).  The extracted organic layer was used for preparation of the calibration curves for spectrophotometric measurements of AH at 434nm.  The blanks were carried out in exactly the same way throughout the whole procedure.&n

Spectrophotometric Determination of Rantidine-HCl in Pharmaceutical Formulations
...Show More Authors

Spectrophotometric  methods  were  developed   for    the determination of rantidine-HCl in pharmaceutical tablets. These methods were based on the reaction of DDQ and p-chloranil with rantidine-HCl, resulting in the formation of an orange-red and purple colored products which are quantified spectrophotometrically at 460 and 540nm in DDQ and p-chloranil, respectively. A graph of absorbance versus concentration show that Beer’s law is obeyed in a concentration ranges of 20-160 and (30-120)g/ml with molar absorptivities of 2.631 x 103 and 1.052 x 103l .mol-1-cm-1 for DDQ and  p-chloranil, respectively. The optimum conditions for  color development  are described and

Spectrophotometric Determination of Mefenamic Acid in Pharmaceutical Preparations
...Show More Authors

A simple, accurate and precise spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of Mefenamic acid(MA) in dosage forms. Proposed  method based on the reaction of cited drug with 1,2-Naphthoquinone-4-Sulfonic sodium (NQS). The optimum experimental condition have been studied. Beer's Law is obeyed in the concentration range 0.5-10.0 µg/mL at 450nm with detection limit of 0.189µg/mL.  Effect of pH, reaction time, and volume of NQS on the determination of Mefenamic acid, have been examined. The proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of  Mefenamic acid in pharmaceutical preparations.

Effect of Argon Gas on the Structure and Optical Properties of Nano Titanium Oxide Prepared by PLD
...Show More Authors

In this research the effect of laser energy by using argon gas on the some physical properties of semiconductor film of TiO2, was studied used Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser in different energies (600-1000) mJ with temperature 100 0C for glass substrate under vacuum nearly 10-3 - - , and by AFM test the roughness of films increased when the energy of laser increased too. The values of roughness between (6.77-13) nm, therefore the thicknesses increased to change from (34.88 - 165.48) nm, so the absorption of film increased because of the thickness of the film increased and we can get the optical energy gap between (3.6-3.9) eV.

Various activities taking place within the city of Baghdad have significantly contributed to organic pollution in Rivers Tigris and Diyala. The present study aimed to assess some physical, chemical and biological aspects of six sites on Rivers Tigris and Diyala as they flow through the city of Baghdad. Monthly samples were collected for the period January to December, 2005. Marked differences in the physical and chemical characteristics of water were noted between the two rivers’ sites. Average values during the study period of dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, particulate organic matter, nitrate, phosphate and total dissolved solids for Tigris and Diyala were 7.8,4.7; 2.4,10.4; 350.1,921.4;7.8,13.9;1.2,4.8;814,2176 mg / l re
