Image Compression Based on Arithmetic Coding Algorithm
...Show More Authors

The past years have seen a rapid development in the area of image compression techniques, mainly due to the need of fast and efficient techniques for storage and transmission of data among individuals. Compression is the process of representing the data in a compact form rather than in its original or incompact form. In this paper, integer implementation of Arithmetic Coding (AC) and Discreet Cosine Transform (DCT) were applied to colored images. The DCT was applied using the YCbCr color model. The transformed image was then quantized with the standard quantization tables for luminance and chrominance. The quantized coefficients were scanned by zigzag scan and the output was encoded using AC. The results showed a decent compression ratio with high image quality.

Adapting the Grimms: Going Against Patriarchy in Singh’s Movie Mirror Mirror
...Show More Authors

Many cinematic adaptations were produced for the Grimms’ “Little Snow-White” (1812) including Mirror Mirror movie (2012), the contemporary version adapted by Taresm Singh. Singh’s version was able to depict the modern reality of women and went against patriarchy by embracing feminist ideologies of the fourth-wave feminism. Therefore, he challenged the ideologies of the mainstream cinema dominated by the patriarchal élite’s capitalist mode of production that still adhere to the stereotyped patriarchal image of women’s ‘victimization,’ ‘objectification’ and ‘marginalization,’ which did not represent women’s modern reality anymore. This paper, however, is a qualitative study aimed to prove that the femini

Variational Approximate Solutions of Fractional Delay Differential Equations with Integral Transform
...Show More Authors

The idea of the paper is to consolidate Mahgoub transform and variational iteration method (MTVIM) to solve fractional delay differential equations (FDDEs). The fractional derivative was in Caputo sense. The convergences of approximate solutions to exact solution were quick. The MTVIM is characterized by ease of application in various problems and is capable of simplifying the size of computational operations.  Several non-linear (FDDEs) were analytically solved as illustrative examples and the results were compared numerically. The results for accentuating the efficiency, performance, and activity of suggested method were shown by comparisons with Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM), Laplace Adomian Decompos

Phytochemical Investigation of Aerial Parts of Iraqi Cardaria draba
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was to study chemical constituents of aerial parts of Cardaria draba since no phytochemical investigation had been studied before in Iraq. Aerial parts of Cardaria draba were defatted by maceration in hexane for 72 h. The defatted plant materials were extracted using Soxhlet apparatus, the aqueous Methanol 90% as a solvent extraction for 18 h, and fractionated with petroleum ether- chloroform (CHCl3)- ethylacetate- and n-butanol respectivly. The ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and n-butanol after hydrolysis fractions were investigated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and thin-layer chromatography (TLC) for its phenolic acid and flavonoid contents. Flavono

Computer Vision of Optimal Geometric Concentration Ratio for the Solar Ball Lens
...Show More Authors

This research evaluates the optical properties of an inhomogeneous and non-paraxial system using a solar ball lens (SBL) as a new thermal solar concentrated collector. This evaluation is based on detecting a diacaustic curve in a straightforward and accurate manner, with the diagnostic relying on image processing as a computational tool using the MATLAB program rather than a complicated numerical analytic procedure. The circle of least confusion (CLC) of the (SBL), (Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) polymer – water core), was calculated. Furthermore, the study evaluated the maximum geometrical concentration ratio (G C) of refracted solar radiation that can be captured by a receiver of the (SBL). Without energy losses due

METAPHORICAL APPROACH TO DESCRIBING THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE NOVEL OF THE RUSSIAN WRITER L. ULITSKAYA "SINCERELY YOUR SHURIK": MEANING AND INFLUENCE
...Show More Authors

The article reflects the results of the analysis of the use of metaphors as one of the main means used by Lyudmila Ulitskaya when writing the novel “Sincerely Yours Shurik” to form the image of the main hero in the novel. The main purpose of the article is to consider metaphors, which helped the author to form the image of the main character Shurik in the text space through the stages of his life path, closely related to the people around him, who is always happy to be useful (hence the title "Sincerely Yours"), among which the female images of his relatives, girlfriends and others stand out as a special layer in the narrative. And in the course of the study, the following tasks were solved: the metaphors that make up the image of the

Correlation between the conventional, routine histological grading of transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder and morphometric analysis
...Show More Authors

Background: Transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder is one of the important malignancies in both sex groups .It is considered as a heterogenous neoplasm with different
biological behavior, in which the majority are early non invasive with tendency for recurrence and some may progress to invasive tumor. An important clinicopathological features are ,the tumor stage and histological grade which are used as prognostic parameters of the tumor and play an important role in therapy. Due to the subjectivity of the histological grading , the reproducibility was low . Many studies showed the value of quantitative analysis of the tumor as an important method in determining the recurrence of the tumor and

Adaptive Motion Compensated Spatial Temporal Filter of Colonoscopy Video
...Show More Authors

Colonoscopy is a popular procedure which is used to detect an abnormality. Early diagnosis can help to heal many patients. The purpose of this paper is removing/reducing some artifacts to improve the visual quality of colonoscopy videos to provide better information for physicians. This work complements a series of work consisting of three previously published papers. In this paper, optic flow is used for motion compensation, where a number of consecutive images are registered to integrate some information to create a new image that has/reveals more information than the original one. Colon images were classified into informative and noninformative images by using a deep neural network. Then, two different strategies were use

Homotopy Transforms Analysis Method for Solving Fractional Navier- Stokes Equations with Applications
...Show More Authors

The presented work includes the Homotopy Transforms of Analysis Method (HTAM). By this method, the approximate solution of nonlinear Navier- Stokes equations of fractional order derivative was obtained.  The Caputo's derivative was used in the proposed method. The desired solution was calculated by using the convergent power series to the components. The obtained results are demonstrated by comparison with the results of Adomain decomposition method, Homotopy Analysis method and exact solution, as explained in examples (4.1) and (4.2). The comparison shows that the used method is powerful and efficient.

Approximate Analytical Solutions of Bright Optical Soliton for Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation of Power Law Nonlinearity
...Show More Authors

This paper introduces the Multistep Modified Reduced Differential Transform Method (MMRDTM). It is applied to approximate the solution for Nonlinear Schrodinger Equations (NLSEs) of power law nonlinearity. The proposed method has some advantages. An analytical approximation can be generated in a fast converging series by applying the proposed approach. On top of that, the number of computed terms is also significantly reduced. Compared to the RDTM, the nonlinear term in this method is replaced by related Adomian polynomials prior to the implementation of a multistep approach. As a consequence, only a smaller number of NLSE computed terms are required in the attained approximation. Moreover, the approximation also converges rapidly over a
