Alternation of bacterial antioxidant defense pathways might affect susceptibility to antibiotics in dual ways. Using a relatively simple model based on wild-type and oxyR Escherichia coli mature biofilms, their counterpart planktonic cultures and exponentially growing planktonic cultures, we explored the role of OxyR-mediated metabolism alternations in modulation of susceptibility to antibiotics ciprofloxacin and cefotaxime. All three types of cultures were placed in fresh medium,1 h after antibiotics were added and incubation continued further for 2 h. Killing rates of antibiotics were determined, biofilm eradication using crystal violet assay was estimated, expression of rpoS, katG, sulA genes as well as HPI and HPII catalase activity were measured. Biofilms of both strains were more recalcitrant to ciprofloxacin and cefotaxime at all tested concentrations compared to exponentially growing planktonic cultures. In oxyR biofilms killing rate of ciprofloxacin was lower, and killing rate of cefotaxime was higher compared to the parental strain. Compared to biofilms, wild-type biofilm counterpart planktonic cultures showed higher tolerance to low doses of ciprofloxacin, while oxyR plankton demonstrated higher tolerance to cefotaxime. Higher recalcitrance of oxyR biofilms to ciprofloxacin may be caused by an increase in persister cells under conditions of enhanced oxidative stress and activated SOS response.
Field and laboratory experiments were conducted during the course of study to
test if the sunflower residues along or with 50% full rate of trifluralin herbicide has
any impact on mycorrhizal association and soil nitrification which are important
processes for improving growth and productivity of crops. Results revealed that
incorporation of sunflower residues significantly increased spores number at 2, 4
and 6 weeks of residue decomposition compared to control treatment. However,
when the residues applied in combination with reduced rate of trifluralin herbicide,
sporulation was appreciably decreased by sunflower residues at 3 t ha-1 but it
remains almost the same at 6 t ha-1 rate of residues. Field soil amended
The study was designed to invetigate the effect of two plant growth regulators (GA3 and IAA)on growth and leaves volatile oils of sweet basil . The plants were treated with 200ppm concentration for each of the bove regulators after 2 monthes of planting ,after 2weeks of the first treatment and after month of the first treatment . The results showed an increase in plant height 25,35% ,number of large leaves 20,40% and percentage of volatile oils 200,100%respectively after one month of first treatment.
Psoriasis is a long-lasting autoimmune disease that is characterized by swollen skin patches. Normally, these skin patches are dark, swollen, itchy and scaly. The single application of the innate TLR7/8 ligand Imiquimod (IMQ) in mice easily induces a dermatitis that closely resembles human psoriasis, critically dependent on the axis of IL-23/IL-17. Artemisia dracunculus prepared as an ointment and has been used topically to mice before imiquimod application. The results of the current study showed that A. dracunculus ointment can significantly reduce psoriasis area and severity index in (A. dracunculus ointment + imiquimod group as compared with both control group and (vehicle ointment + imiquimod) group.
This study aimed to provide a conceptual model for the use and benefits of the e-Government as related to administrative fraud and financial corruption. The study also looked into their concepts, forms, dimensions and types and the role of e-Government on fraud reduction, corruption in administration and finance and its impact on the government performance. From the result, it is revealed that there is need for electronic government for implementation in order to curb the rate of fraud and administrative and financial corruption and improve the quality of service provision for better performance
The resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to ciprofloxacin has complicated the problem of treating staphylococcal associated infections in which MRSA is the causative agent since ciprofloxacin was the drug of choice to treat such infections. Our study investigated the incidence of Ciprofloxacin resistant S. aureus isolates that were also methicillin resistant among Iraqi patients. The obtained bacterial isolates were tested for Ciprofloxacin resistance using agar dilution method and the sequence of gyrA and parC. The results revealed that about 8% of the isolated MRSA strains were Ciprofloxacin resistant and the resistance was due to mutation in gyrA rather than parC.

The present work aims to study the combustion characteristics related to syngas-diesel dual-fuel engine operates at lambda value of 1.6 operated by five different replacement ratios (RR) of syngas with diesel, which are (10%, 20%, 30 %, 40 % and 50%). ANSYS Workbench (CFD) was used for simulating the combustion of the syngas-diesel dual-fuel engine. The numerical simulations were carried out on the Ricardo-Hydra diesel engine. The simulation results revealed that the diesel engine’s combustion efficiency was enhanced by increasing the diesel replacement with Syngas fuel.
