Security of Wireless Sensor Nodes

Due to the large-scale development in satellite and network communication technologies, there is a significant demand for preserving the secure storage and transmission of the data over the internet and shared network environments. New challenges appeared that are related to the protection of critical and sensitive data
from illegal usage and unauthorized access. In this paper, we address the issues described above and develop new techniques to eliminate the associated problems. To achieve this, we propose a design of a new sensor node for tracking the location of cars and collecting all information and all visited locations by cars, followed by
encryption in a sensor node and saving in the database. A microcontroller of Arduino esp8266 Node MCU board and a GPS module are used. The cryptography uses the chaos-based symmetric-key encryption technique for data. This scheme utilizes a chaotic map (Hénon map) for robustness and security of data. The key sensitivity can be performed by statistical experiments to determine the safety, reliability, and speed of the algorithm. The proposed algorithm presents several exciting features, such as a high level of security, sufficient saving of the energy of the sensor network, and an acceptable encryption speed compared to Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption Standard (DES).

Chloroform Vapor Sensor Based on Air-Gap of the Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

The proposal of this study is demonstrating a simple vapor sensor for chloroform (CHCI3) utilitizing air gap region of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) by using a single mode optical fiber coupler (3 dB) structure. In the last few decades, flammable liquids such as chloroform have been highly used. This chemical liquid has some degrees of carcinogenic effects in humans in addition to acute and chronic exposure results like blurred vision and nausea.  The two arms of MZI contain a free space gap utilized to serve the sensing mechanism by adding chemical liquid volumes (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1) ml and to set the phase difference with air-gap distance 0.5 mm. The small variation in the effective refractive index of ch

Enhancement of functionalized carbon nanotubes gas sensor by adding metal oxide nanoparticles

Functionalized-multi wall carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNTs) and functionalized-single wall carbon nanotubes (F-SWCNTs) were well enhanced using CoO Nanoparticles. The sensor device consisted of a film of sensitive material (F-MWCNTs/CoONPs) and (F-SWCNTs/CoO NPs) deposited by drop- casting on an n-type porous silicon substrate. The two sensors perform high sensitivity to NO2 gas at room temperatures. The analysis indicated that the (F-MWCNTs/CoONPs) have a better performance than (F-SWCNTs/CoONPs). The F-SWCNTs/CoONPs gas sensor shows high sensitivity (19.1 %) at RT with response time 17 sec, while F-MWCNTs/CoONPs gas sensor show better sensitivity (39 %) at RT with response time 13 sec. The device shows a very reproducible sensor p

Preparation and characterization of mixed SnO2:CdO thin films as gas sensor

In this study, tin oxide (SnO2) and mixed with cadmium oxide (CdO) with concentration ratio of (5, 10, 15, 20)% films were deposited by spray pyrolysis technique onto glass substrates at 300ºC temperature. The structure of the SnO2:CdO mixed films have polycrystalline structure with (110) and (101) preferential orientations. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) show the films are displayed granular structure. It was found that the grain size increases with increasing of mixed concentration ratio. The transmittance in visible and NIR region was estimated for SnO2:CdO mixed films. Direct optical band gap was estimated for SnO2 and SnO2 mixed CdO and show a decrease in the energy gap with increasing mixing ratio. From Hall measurement, it was fou

Measuring the Level of Entrepreneurial Orientation: Analytical Research in the National Security Advisory

The current research aims to measure the level of entrepreneurial orientation and its dimensions (creativity, independence, proactivity, risk tolerance, and achievement) in the National Security Chancellery, as its importance and role in guiding senior leaders of the chancellery to make strategic decisions with high quality in various Iraqi concerns, more specifically the security aspect. The data was collected from 94 individuals (the research sample) from the research community (120) individuals at different administrative levels and intentionally where the questionnaire was adopted as a main tool for data collection and the primary data was analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical methods (arithmetic mean, standard dev

The Intellectual Security and Its Relation to Psychological Resilience of Secondary School Students

The current research aims to determine the intellectual security and the psychological resilience of Secondary school students and how these two variables are related to each other. The study also seeks the extent to which psychological resilience contributes to intellectual security

The research sample consisted of (420) students from the Secondary stage in the Directorate of Education of Baghdad / Rusafa III. Two scales were administered to the participants to collect the needed data. As for the analysis of data, Pearson correlation coefficient, T-test, and the Regression analysis were employed, the results revealed:

  1. The members of the sample have an intellectual Security.
  2. The members of the sample have

Quantum Key Distribution and Chaos Bandwidth Effects on Impact Security of Quantum Communications

The influence of bias current on the bandwidth of chaotic signals in semiconductor lasers by optical feedback has been studied experimentally and numerically. The measured data reveal that the bandwidth increase when the system becomes chaotic and this chaotic signal has a broadband spectrum so it can be used as a carrier for the quantum key. Mixing chaotic signal and quantum key make a very small change in chaotic bandwidth that does not affect the security of data transmitted.

Effect of Voltage on Gas Sensor Performance of Anodization Synthesized TiO2 Nanotubes Arrays

Serious gases have been highly related to being prejudiced against human life within the environment. The evolution of a trustworthy gas sensor with an elevated response is of major importance for detecting various hazardous gases. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes (TNTs) are favorable candidates with considerable potential and stellar performance in gas sensor applications. In this work, we have studied the effect of voltage on preparing TiO2 nanotubular arrays via the anodization technique for gas sensor applications. A simple electrochemical anodization approach was used to synthesize titanium dioxide nanotubes. Diverse techniques of characterization were used to evaluate TNTs. The results gained from fi

Influence of Optical Fiber Diameters on the Performance of Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor

In this research, a sensor for chemical solutions was designed and formed using optical fiber-based on a surface Plasmon resonance technology. A single-mode optical fiber with three different diameters (25, 45 and 65) µm was used, respectively.  The second layer of the low refractive fiber was replaced by gold, which was electrically deposited at 40 µm thickness. For each of the three types of optical fiber, different saline concentrations (different index of refraction) were used to evaluate the performance of the refractive index sensor (chemical sensor) by measuring its sensitivity and resolutions. The highest values we could get for these two parameters were 240mm/RIU, and 6*10-5 RIU respectively, when the diameter of a
