A Metaheuristic Approach to the C1S Problem

Given a binary matrix, finding the maximum set of columns such that the resulting submatrix has the Consecutive Ones Property (C1P) is called the Consecutive Ones Submatrix (C1S) problem. There are solution approaches for it, but there is also a room for improvement. Moreover, most of the studies of the problem use exact solution methods. We propose an evolutionary approach to solve the problem. We also suggest a related problem to C1S, which is the Consecutive Blocks Minimization (CBM). The algorithm is then performed on real-world and randomly generated matrices of the set covering type.

Path Planning of an Autonomous Mobile Robot using Enhanced Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm

This paper describes the problem of online autonomous mobile robot path planning, which is consisted of finding optimal paths or trajectories for an autonomous mobile robot from a starting point to a destination across a flat map of a terrain, represented by a 2-D workspace. An enhanced algorithm for solving the problem of path planning using Bacterial Foraging Optimization algorithm is presented. This nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm, which imitates the foraging behavior of E-coli bacteria, was used to find the optimal path from a starting point to a target point. The proposed algorithm was demonstrated by simulations in both static and dynamic different environments. A comparative study was evaluated between the developed algori

Enhanced Performance of Consensus Wireless Sensor Controlled System via Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

This paper describes the application of consensus optimization for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) system. Consensus algorithm is usually conducted within a certain number of iterations for a given graph topology. Nevertheless, the best Number of Iterations (NOI) to reach consensus is varied in accordance with any change in number of nodes or other parameters of . graph topology. As a result, a time consuming trial and error procedure will necessary be applied
to obtain best NOI. The implementation of an intellig ent optimization can effectively help to get the optimal NOI. The performance of the consensus algorithm has considerably been improved by the inclusion of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). As a case s

Hybrid Fuzzy Logic and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Intrusion Detection and Classification

In recent years, with the growing size and the importance of computer networks, it is very necessary to provide adequate protection for users data from snooping through the use of one of the protection techniques: encryption, firewall and intrusion detection systems etc. Intrusion detection systems is considered one of the most important components in the computer networks that deal with Network security problems. In this research, we suggested the intrusion detection and classification system through merging Fuzzy logic and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm. Fuzzy logic has been used to build a classifier which has the ability to distinguish between the behavior of the normal user and behavior of the intruder. The artificial bee colony al

Using Affiliation Rules-based Data Mining Technique in Referral System

Referral techniques are normally employed in internet business applications. Existing frameworks prescribe things to a particular client according to client inclinations and former high evaluations. Quite a number of methods, such as cooperative filtering and content-based methodologies, dominate the architectural design of referral frameworks. Many referral schemes are domain-specific and cannot be deployed in a general-purpose setting. This study proposes a two-dimensional (User × Item)-space multimode referral scheme, having an enormous client base but few articles on offer. Additionally, the design of the referral scheme is anchored on the and articles, as expressed by a particular client, and is a combination of affi

Using Non-dominated Sorting Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm II for Bi-objective Flow Shop Scheduling Problems

A hybrid particulate swarm optimization (hybrid) combination of an optimization algorithm of the particle swarm and a variable neighborhood search algorithm is proposed for the multi-objective permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSP) with the smallest cumulative completion time and the smallest total flow time. Algorithm for hybrid particulate swarm optimization (HPSO) is applied to maintain a fair combination of centralized search with decentralized search. The Nawaz-Enscore-Ham )NEH) heuristic algorithm in this hybrid algorithm is used to initialize populations in order to improve the efficiency of the initial solution. The method design is based on ascending order (ranked-order-value, ROV), applying the continuous PSO algorithm

An Experimental Research on Design and Development Diversified Controllers for Tri-copter Stability Comparison
Abstract
The drones have become the focus of researchers’ attention because they enter into many details of life. The Tri-copter was chosen because it combines the advantages of the quadcopter in stability and manoeuvrability quickly. In this paper, the nonlinear Tri-copter model is entirely derived and applied three controllers; Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID), Fractional Order PID (FOPID), and Nonlinear PID (NLPID). The tuning process for the controllers’ parameters had been tuned by using the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. Then the results obtained had been compared. Where the improvement rate for the Tri-copter model of the nonlinear controller (NLPID) if compared with
... Show More

An Adaptive Harmony Search Part-of-Speech tagger for Square Hmong Corpus

Data-driven models perform poorly on part-of-speech tagging problems with the square Hmong language, a low-resource corpus. This paper designs a weight evaluation function to reduce the influence of unknown words. It proposes an improved harmony search algorithm utilizing the roulette and local evaluation strategies for handling the square Hmong part-of-speech tagging problem. The experiment shows that the average accuracy of the proposed model is 6%, 8% more than HMM and BiLSTM-CRF models, respectively. Meanwhile, the average F1 of the proposed model is also 6%, 3% more than HMM and BiLSTM-CRF models, respectively.
