Unsteady Flow of Electrically Conducting Fluid of Second Grade Over A Stretching Sheet Subject to A Transverse Magnetic Field

In this paper, the series solution for unsteady flow for an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid of second grad over a stretching sheet subject to a transverse magnetic field is presented by using homotopy analysis method (HAM). Also we examines the effects of viscoelastic parameter, magnetic parameter and time which they control the equation of motion.

Strength of Reinforced Concrete Columns with Transverse Openings

The present work is concerned with the investigation of the behavior and ultimate capacity of axially loaded reinforced concrete columns in presence of transverse openings under axial load plus uniaxial bending. The experimental program includes testing of twenty reinforced concrete columns (150 × 150 × 700 mm) under concentric and eccentric load. Parameters considered include opening size, load eccentricity and influence of the direction of load eccentricity with respect to the longitudinal axis of the opening. Experimental results are discussed based on load – lateral mid height deflection curves, load – longitudinal shortening behavior, ultimate load and failure modes. It is found that when the direction of load

Topsoil Magnetic Susceptibility and Heavy Metal Contamination: A Case Study in Al-Muthanna Province, Iraq

Due to rapid urbanization and industrialization that occurred in Al- Muthanna province in southeastern Iraq during the last decade, pollutants such as heavy metals were emitted into the environment and became a serious threat to human health. Environmental pollution could be caused by different types of pollutants, which come from different sources.

This study aims to assess the environmental magnetism efficiency for heavy metal pollution assessment using the magnetic susceptibility technique which became a more rapid and cost-effective compared to conventional methods. Increasing heavy metal contents in soils causes an increase in the magnetic mineral concentration. The study are

Slip Effect on the Peristaltic Transport of MHD Fluid through a Porous Medium with Variable Viscosity

The present paper concerns with peristaltic analysis of MHD viscous fluid in a two dimensional channel with variable viscosity through a porous medium under the effect of slip condition. Along wave length and low Reynolds number assumption is used in the problem formulation. An analytic solution is presented for the case of hydrodynamic fluid while for magneto hydrodynamic fluid a series solution is obtained in the small power of viscosity parameter. The salient features of pumping and trapping phenomena are discussed in detail through a numerical integration. The features of the flow characteristics are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail. When .

Dynamic Stability Analysis and Critical Speed of Rotor supported by a Worn Fluid film Journal Bearings

In this paper, the effect of wear in the fluid film journal bearings on the dynamic stability of rotor bearing system has been studied depending on the development of new analytical equations for motion, instability threshold speed and steady state harmonic response for rotor with offset disc supported by worn journal bearings. Finite element method had been used for modeling the rotor bearing system. The analytical model is verified by comparing its results with that obtained numerically for a rotor supported on the short bearings. The analytical and numerical results showed good agreement with about 8.5% percentage error in the value of critical speed and about 3.5% percentage error in the value of harmonic response. T

Level of follicular fluid vitamin D and embryo quality in a sample of Iraqi women undergoing IVF

Background: Vitamin D has been linked to fertility since its receptors were found in reproductive organs. Nevertheless, its exact role in fertility is yet to be cleared.

Objectives: To analyze follicular fluid (FF) vitamin D in females doing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), to compare its level between Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and non-PCOS females, and to explore whether vitamin D correlates with oocytes number, percentage of oocyte maturity, fertilization rate and percentage of high quality embryos.

Patients and methods: This comparative observational study was done, from January to October 2018, at Al Amal IVF Center, Jenin hospital, Baghdad. The study w

Determination of flow units of Yamama Formation in the West Qurna oil field, Southern Iraq

The major objective of this paper is to recognize the flow units of Yamama Formation in the west Qurna oil field, south of Iraq. To attain this objective, four wells namely, WQ-23, WQ-148, WQ-60, and WQ-203 are selected and analyzed. The two techniques hat proposed by some scientists to identify flow units are tested and verified. Results are also enhanced using well logs interpretation and the flow areas are proposed through the studying of the behavior of different well logs. Results of applying the two proposed techniques identify six flow reservoir units for the wells WQ-23, WQ-148, WQ-60, and WQ-203, respectively. This study also shows that the flow reservoir properties in the Yamama Formation improved towards the northeast of the W

A Review using continuous flow injection analysis technique in the determination of several drugs

Continuous flow injection analysis (CFIA) is one of the simplest, easiest, and multilateral analytical automation methods in moist chemical analysis. This method depends on changing the physical and chemical properties of a part of the specimen spread out from the specimen injected into the carrier stream. The CFIA technique uses automatic analysis of samples with high efficiency. The CFIA PC compatibility also allows specimens to be treated automatically, reagents to be added, and reaction conditions to be closely monitored. The CFIA is one of the automated chemical analysis methods in which a successive specimen sample is to be estimated and injected into a vector stream from a flowing solution that meets the reagent and mixes at a spe

Oil Spill Removal from Water Surfaces using Zinc Ferrite Magnetic Nanoparticles as A Sorbent Material

In this study, zinc ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (ZnFe2O4, ZFO MNPs) were employed as a sorbent for the removal of oil spill from water surfaces. ZFO MNPs were synthesized via a sol-gel process and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). Both the apparent density and magnetic force were determined. ZFO MNPs presented a considerable magnetic force (40.22 mN) and an adequate density (0.5287 g/cm3), which are important for the magnetic separation and flotation. Four oil samples (gasoline engine oil, crude oil, used motor oil and diesel engine oil) were used to investigate the gravimetric oil removal capability of ZFO MNPs. The oil sorption capacit

Retrospective analysis of 1286 oral and maxillofacial biopsied lesions of Iraqi children over a 30 years period

Objectives To determine the prevalence of oral lesions by age and gender among the pediatric population in Iraq. Materials and methods A review of the archives of the oral pathology department of Baghdad University from, 1970 Materials and Methods: A review of the archives of the oral pathology department of Baghdad University from 1970 to 2013 for all biopsies from children aged 0–15 years old. Results A total of 1286 child specimens represented 11.98% of all biopsied lesions. The pyogenic granuloma was the most frequent lesion in children, and the periapical cyst was the most frequent lesion from an odontogenic origin. The incidence of malignant lesions was higher in the 0–3 age group than other groups. Conclusions The majority of les

Mass Transport Properties of a Flow-Through Electrolytic Reactor Using Zinc Reduction System

An electrolytic process for the removal of Zn(II) from aqueous solution using a parallel amalgamated copper screens cathode operated in the flow through mode is proposed. The current-potential curves recorded at a rotating amalgamated copper disc electrode were used to determine diffusion coefficient of Zn(II). The performance of electrolytic reactor was investigated by using different flow rates at initial zinc ion concentration(48 mg/L). Taking into account the residential Zn(II) concentration, the best results were obtained for cathode potential of (-1.35 V vs. SCE) at flow rate (320 L/h). Zinc ion concentration was found to decrease from 48 mg/L to 1 mg/L during 120 min. of electrolysis. The experimental data are well correlate
