Gap-Filling Restoration Methods for ETM+ Sensor Images

Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) onboard the Landsat-7 remotely sensor satellite was launched on 15 April 1999. On May 31, 2003, image acquisition via the ETM+ was greatly impacted by the failure of the system’s Scan Line Corrector (SLC). Consequently, the ETM+ has lost approximately 22% of the data due to the increased scan gap. In this work, several gap-filling methods will be proposed to restore the ETM+ image malfunctions. Some of the proposed methods will be carried by estimating the missed pixel’s values from the same image pixel’s neighborhood, while others will utilize the pixel values extracted from different temporal scene acquired in different time. Mean average filter, median filter, midpoint filter, and several interpolations (e.g. 1D-nearest neighbor, 1D-linear, and 1D-cubic-spline interpolations) techniques will be utilized to estimate the missed pixel’s values from the same malfunction scene and from different temporally radiance corrected scene. Additionally, the Linear Local Histogram Matching (LLHM) technique will be implemented to fill the gaps by gain-bias method and by gray-level normalization methods, using the whole image values first, and a window’s values second.

Object Filling Using Table Based Boundary Tracking

The feature extraction step plays major role for proper object classification and recognition, this step depends mainly on correct object detection in the given scene, the object detection algorithms may result with some noises that affect the final object shape, a novel approach is introduced in this paper for filling the holes in that object for better object detection and for correct feature extraction, this method is based on the hole definition which is the black pixel surrounded by a connected boundary region, and hence trying to find a connected contour region that surrounds the background pixel using roadmap racing algorithm, the method shows a good results in 2D space objects.

Simulation of Optical Energy Gap for Synthesis Carbon Quantum Dot by Laser Ablation

Fluorescent Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDS) are a new kind of carbon nanoparticles that have appeared recently and have collected much interest as potential competitors to conventional semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). In addition to their comparable fluorescent properties, CQDs have the desired specifications of environmental friendliness, low toxicity, simple synthetic routes, low cost and surface passivation The functionalization of CQDS allow the control of their physicochemical properties. The main aim of this kind of researches is to account the variables that cannot be measured directly from practical experiments. Therefore, the work here is focused on the account energy gap of bulk (Eg bulk) by theoretically method (simulation) after

Wavelet compression for remotely sensed images

Image compression is very important in reducing the costs of data storage transmission in relatively slow channels. Wavelet transform has received significant attention because their multiresolution decomposition that allows efficient image analysis. This paper attempts to give an understanding of the wavelet transform using two more popular examples for wavelet transform, Haar and Daubechies techniques, and make compression between their effects on the image compression.

Monitoring Vegetation Growth of Spectrally Landsat Satellite Imagery ETM+ 7 & TM 5 for Western Region of Iraq by Using Remote Sensing Techniques.

Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper (TM) has been imaging the Earth since March 1984 and Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) was added to the series of Landsat instruments in April 1999. In this paper the two sensors are used to monitoring the agriculture condition and detection the changing in the area of plant covers, the stability and calibration of the ETM+ has been monitored extensively since launch although it is not monitored for many years, TM now has a similar system in place to monitor stability and calibration. By referring to statistical values for the classification process, the results indicated that the state of vegetation in 1990 was in the proportion of 42.8%, while this percentage rose to 52.5% for the same study area in

Genetic Algorithm Optimization Model for Central Marches Restoration Flows with Different Water Quality Scenarios

A Genetic Algorithm optimization model is used in this study to find the optimum flow values of the Tigris river branches near Ammara city, which their water is to be used for central marshes restoration after mixing in Maissan River. These tributaries are Al-Areed, AlBittera and Al-Majar Al-Kabeer Rivers. The aim of this model is to enhance the water quality in Maissan River, hence provide acceptable water quality for marsh restoration. The model is applied for different water quality change scenarios ,i.e. , 10%,20% increase in EC,TDS and BOD. The model output are the optimum flow values for the three rivers while, the input data are monthly flows(1994-2011),monthly water requirements and water quality parameters (EC, TDS, BOD, DO and

Comparison of BASE methods with other methods for estimating the measurement parameter for WEBB distribution using simulations

Weibull distribution is considered as one of the most widely  distribution applied in real life, Its similar to normal distribution in the way of applications, it's also considered as one of the distributions that can applied in many fields such as industrial engineering to represent replaced and manufacturing time ,weather forecasting, and other scientific uses in reliability studies and survival function in medical and communication engineering fields.

In this paper, The scale parameter has been estimated for weibull distribution using Bayesian method based on Jeffery prior information as a first method , then enhanced by improving Jeffery prior information and then used as a se

Hematological assessment of gasoline exposure among petrol filling workers in Baghdad

Background: Petrol station attendants are workers chronically exposed to petroleum derivatives primarily through inhalation of the volatile fraction of petrol during vehicle refueling. The adverse health effects of gasoline exposure may be primarily related to impairment of the haemopoietic system with bone marrow depression.
Objective: The evaluation of hematopoietic changes among petrol filling workers
Methods: a cross sectional survey was carried out with 292individuals, 146 petrol filling workers who spent their working hours in the stations of petrol filling in Baghdad city-group (1) and 146 individuals from people who already work in station as overseers - group (2), were investigated for the effect of gasoline polluted air wh

Multifractal-Based Features for Medical Images Classification

This paper presents a method to classify colored textural images of skin tissues. Since medical images havehighly heterogeneity, the development of reliable skin-cancer detection process is difficult, and a mono fractaldimension is not sufficient to classify images of this nature. A multifractal-based feature vectors are suggested hereas an alternative and more effective tool. At the same time multiple color channels are used to get more descriptivefeatures. Two multifractal based set of features are suggested here. The first set measures the local roughness property, whilethe second set measure the local contrast property.A combination of all the extracted features from the three colormodels gives a highest classification accuracy with 99.4

Fuzzy Wavenet (FWN) classifier for medical images

The combination of wavelet theory and neural networks has lead to the development of wavelet networks. Wavelet networks are feed-forward neural networks using wavelets as activation function. Wavelets networks have been used in classification and identification problems with some success.

In this work we proposed a fuzzy wavenet network (FWN), which learns by common back-propagation algorithm to classify medical images. The library of medical image has been analyzed, first. Second, Two experimental tables’ rules provide an excellent opportunity to test the ability of fuzzy wavenet network due to the high level of information variability often experienced with this type of images.
