Study of Multi-drug Resistant Mechanism inAcinetobacterbaumannii Isolated From Nosocomial Infections in Educational Ramadi Hospital

In this study, A 320 clinical specimens were collected
fromIntensiveCareUnits, Surgery and burn units in educational Ramadi
hospital. The enrichment and isolation of A. baumannii from collected
specimens led to isolate 30 bacterial strains from 337 bacterial isolates with
rate (8.9%), which similar in morphology for that standard strains. The rate
of A. baumannii isolated from burn specimens was 80%, the wound specimens (13.33%), and sputum (6.67% The study detect resistance of A.
baumanniifor different antibiotics, All isolates showed multidrug resistant,
the isolates was 100% resistant for Ampicillin, Cefazolin, Cefotaxime,
Cloxacillin, Colistin and Trimethoprim, as showed high resistance to
carbapenems reached to 80%, but it showed low resistance (20%) against
Levofloxacin. So 100% of A. baumanniiisolates (n=30) were produced
AmpC β-Lactamases which hydrolyze a broad-spectrum of cephalosporins,
and 60% from isolates (n=18) were producedMetalo β-Lactamases (MBL)
which hydrolyze a broad array of antimicrobial agents, including
carbapenems.

Effect of operation conditions on Catalytic Oxidation of Phenol in Aqueous Solution

This work was conducted to study the oxidation of phenol in aqueous solution using copper based catalyst with zinc as promoter and different carrier, i.e. γ-Alumina and silica. These catalysts were prepared by impregnation method.
The effect of catalyst composition, pH (5.6-9), phenol to catalyst concentration ratio (2-0.5), air feed rate (30-50) ml/s, stirring speed (400-800) rpm, and temperature (80-100) °C were examined in order to find the best conditions for phenol conversion.
The best operating conditions which lead to maximum phenol conversion (73.1%) are : 7.5 pH, 4/6 phenol to catalyst concentration, 40 ml/s air feed rate, 600 rpm stirring speed, and 100 °C reaction temperature. The reaction involved an induction period

Criticism of poetry in the book of mortality Ibn Khalkan (681 AH)

INHERITANCE OF DARK HEAD AND SIPHON IN THE LARVAE OF CULEXQUINQEFASCIATUS SAY

A new spontaneous mutation (dh) is described for Culex quinquefasciatus Say. This
phenotype was observed in the second generation to cause complete coloration of the head
capsule and the siphon of the larvae. This character is mainly detectable in the larval stage
and slightly in the adult stage.
The reciprocal mass matting between mutants from F2 generation and normal wild type
sibs, revealed that the mode of inheritance can be controlled by an autosomal recessive
gene(s). This happened for both sexes with slightly variability in their expression. No
significant larval mortalities were found in all crosses.

VARIATION OF SOME WATER QUALITY PARAMETERS OF HUWAIZA MARSH IN SOUTHERN IRAQ

Huwaiza marsh is considered the largest marsh in the southern part of Iraq. It is located between 31° and 31.75° latitude and extends over the Iraqi-Iranian border; but the largest part lies in Iraq. It is located to the east of Tigris River in Messan and Basra governorates.
In this research, the variation of some water quality parameters at different locations of Huwaiza marsh were studied to find out its efficacy in the treatment of the contamination coming from the wastewater outfall of Kahlaa brokendown sewage treatment plant which lies on the Kahlaa River. This rive is the main feeder of Huwaiza marsh. Ten water quality sampling locations were chosen in this marsh. The water samples were taken during 2009 for three months; Janu

The Role of Elisa test in the diagnosis of helicobacter pylori infection

Background: Helicobacter pylori represents the major etiologic agent of gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease and can cause gastric cancer. Diagnostic testing for Helicobacter pylori can be divided into invasive and non-invasive techniques based upon the need for endoscopy. Serological test is one of the non – invasive tests although measuring these antibodies is not reliable method of diagnosis but may be used in certain condition.
Objectives: To evaluate serum IgG antibodies against Helicobacter pylori by ELISA technique.
Patients and Methods: The current study consisted of 115 patients (74 males, 41 females) attending The Gastrointestinal tract Center and Gastroscopy department in Baghdad Medical City and was subjected

Bioequivalence and Pharmacokinetics of Two Formulations of Amlodipine Tablets in Healthy Subjects

The bioequivalence of a single dose tablet containing 5 mg amlodipine as a test product in comparison to Norvasc® 5 mg tablet (Pfizer USA) as the reference product was studied. Both products were administered to twenty eight healthy male adult subjects applying  a fasting, single-dose, two-treatment, two-period, two-sequence, randomized crossover design with two weeks washout period between dosing. Twenty blood samples were withdrawn from each subject over 144 hours period. Amlodipine concentrations were determined in plasma by a validated HPLC-MS/MS method. From the plasma concentration-time data of each individual, the pharmacokinetic parameters; Cmax, Tmax, AUC0-t, AUC0-

Optimization of Gas Lifting Design in Mishrif Formation of Halfaya Oil Field

The optimization of artificial gas lift techniques plays a crucial role in the advancement of oil field development. This study focuses on investigating the impact of gas lift design and optimization on production outcomes within the Mishrif formation of the Halfaya oil field. A comprehensive production network nodal analysis model was formulated using a PIPESIM Optimizer-based Genetic Algorithm and meticulously calibrated utilizing field-collected data from a network comprising seven wells. This well group encompasses three directional wells currently employing gas lift and four naturally producing vertical wells. To augment productivity and optimize network performance, a novel gas lift design strategy was proposed. The optimization of

Role of Pro-inflammatory and Immunoregulatory Cytokines in Pathogenesis of Chronic Gastritis

Background: Chronic gastritis (CG) is histopathological entity characterized by chronic inflammation of the stomach that mostly caused by Helicobacter pylori, development of
inflammation in gastric mucosa result in release of pro- and anti- inflammatory cytokines .This study aimed to shed light on the role of cytokines (IFN-γ, IL-8, IL-4, IL-10, and GM-CSF) in the
development and prognosis of CG among Iraqi patients.
Patients and methods: 100 Iraqi patients with CG (61 male and 39 female) with age range (10-79) year, were involved in this stady while attending Specialist Hospital of Disease of Liver and Gastrointestinal System at Baghdad Medical City from Nov. 2007 to Apr. 2008. Patients divided accordi
