The synthesis and characterization of new complexes of Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with bidentate [L1: 2-phenyl-2-(p-tolylamino) acetonitrile] and [L2: 2-phenyl-2-(phenylamino) acetonitrile] ligands has been described. The two ligands were prepared by the reaction of p-toluidine and aniline with benzaldehyde, respectively in the presence of potassium cyanide and acidic medium. The complexes were synthesized by treating an ethanolic solution of the ligand with metal salts in a mole ratio of [1:2] [M:L]. The complexes were characterized by using metal and elemental analyses, electronic spectra, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Thermal Gravimetric Analysis TGA, molar conductivity and magnetic susceptibility. According to the obtained data the probable coordination geometries of metal ions in these complexes were suggested as octahedral. Some complexes were found to be non-electrolyte others were found to be weak electrolyte in ethanol.

Two well-known fluorescent molecules: fluorescein sodium salt (FSS) and 2,7-dichloro fluorescein (DCF) were tried to prove the efficiency, trustability and repeatability of ISNAG fluorimeter by using discrete and continuous flow injection analysis modes.A linear range of 0.002-1 mmol/L for FSS and 0.003-0.7 mmol/L was for DCF, with LOD 0.0018 mmol/L and 0.002 mmol/L for FSS and DCF respectively, were obtained for discrete mode of analysis. Cadmium-tin oxide (CSO) thin films were fabricated by spray pyrolysis method at different substrate temperatures (Ts). The results showed a significant effect of Ts on the surface morphology and the electrical properties, which in turn has a significant effect on sensor gas sensitivity. The sample prepared at 400 °C appeared in the form of a donut shape, which has the best ozone sensitivity. No ozone sensitivity appeared in-dark, while showed good sensitivity when illuminated with UV at room temperature (RT). The study showed that the photon exposure method can substitute for the conventional method of sensors heating.
