Because of the contaminants represented by heavy metals in the aquatic
environment have an adverse effects need to be addressed, therefore, a laboratory
simulation was conducted on Cd using kaolinite that collected from Ga’ara Formation
as considered as a natural sorbent material that can be used to remove heavy metals
from aqueous environments. Mineralogical study was conducted on kaolinite using
X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (ESM) and Energy-
Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) for the purpose of investigating the microtexture.
It was found that kaolinite has pure phase of very fine grains with a very little
quantity of quartz and has a number of active sites for adsorption. Chemical analyzes
were performed using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), Electron Probe Micro
analyzer (EPMA) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) techniques
confirmed a purity of kaolinite due to high alumina content, except a rare slica content
originated from quartz. Kaolinite sorption efficiency was investigated through a series
of laboratory experiments. The optimal reaction conditions were determined to be as:
pH 5 to 9, but the best is 9, and the eqilibrium reaction time is 40 minutes, and the
solid to liquid ration is 1.25 gm to 50 ml. The effect of the initial Cd concentration on
the sorption efficiency of kaolininte was also investigated and shows that the sorption
proportionally increases with high concentration. All the laboratory experiments
indicate that the reaction is an indothermic.

The study included field and laboratory aspects. The field side included collecting information about the study area and samples. As for the laboratory side, laboratory tests were conducted to study the thermal conductivity of samples by a device called Lee’s disc in the Tikri University. The thermal conductivity results ranged between 2.34 and 0.27. The rocks are of high thermal insulation at low temperatures and low insulation at high temperatures according to the specifications of the suitability of limestone for thermal conductivity standards (ASTM C 1057-03-2010).

A total of sixty raw milk samples were collected from (street vendors and shops) from Baghdad city, Iraq. The samples were inoculated into peptone water and, then, subcultured onto MacConkey agar and Blood agar. Identification of isolates was confirmed by microscopic examination, cultural characteristic, biochemical tests, Vitek (VITEK®2 system), and Biolog GN substrate reactions followed by 16S rRNA and specific genes sequencing. A spherical-statistical optical model (SOM) has been used to calculate and evaluate the neutron interaction with medium nuclei (40 ). Empirical formulae of the optical potentials parameters are predicted with minimize accuracy compared with experimental bench work data. With these optical formulae an evaluation of the shape and compound elastic scattering cross-section of interaction neutrons with 56Fe nuclei at different energy range (1-20) MeV has been calculated and compared with experimental results. Also, volume integrals for real and imaginary potential energies have been evaluated and matched with the standard ABAREX code. Good agreements with have been achieved with the available experimental data.
