The immersion effect by sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH) at normality (0.3N) for a period of (15 days) on the thermal conductivity of nanocomposites was studied, and compared to natural condition (before immersion). This study was conducted to evaluate the hydrocarbon biodegradation abilities of Enterobacter cloacae, Staphylococcus aureus, Sphingomonas paucimobilis, and Pentoae species which were isolated from different diesel-contaminated soil samples. The isolates were identified by the Vitek 2 system. Fourier-transform spectroscopy (FT-IR) tested the potential of these isolates to biodegrade the diesel according to the peak areas, a significant decrease in the area of the peaks at 2856-2928 cm−1 corresponds to aliphatic hydrocarbons. The appearance of small peaks at 900-1032 cm−1 refers to substituted benzene derivative compounds. Background: Absolute neutropenia in hematological malignancies remains the single most important risk factor for infection, which can be fatal and requires urgent management including radiological procedures and treatment.
Objectives: To compare computerized tomography (CT) of the chest with chest radiology (CXR) in the assessment of febrile neutropenic patients with hematologic malignancy.
Patients and methods: A prospective study, carried out in the hematological ward, Baghdad teaching hospital, for the period from 1stApril 2011to 30thApril 2012.It included 46 neutropenic febrile patients .All had chest X-ray (CXR) and computerized tomography (CT) of the chest.
Results: Male were 21, and female were 25
