Studying the spectral properties of thin films of rhodamine (6G) dyes doped polymer (PMMA) dissolved in chloroform
...Show More Authors

In the present work, poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) doped with Rhodamine 6G was prepared. The spectral properties (absorption and fluorescence) of the films were studied at different concentrations (1x10-5, 2x10-5, 5x10-5, 7x10-5, and 1x10-4mol/l). The investigated samples were made in the form of thin films. This was achieved by dissolving a certain weight of PMMA in a fixed volume of chloroform, composite films was with thickness (25.8μm) at room temperature. The achieved results were pointed out that absorption and fluorescence spectra have taken a wide spectral rang so when increased the concentration each peak shift toward along wavelength. The quantum efficiency of the films were calculated as follows (98%,89%,84%,83% and 76%) for the above concentrations respectively. It has been noticed that the quantum efficiency decreases as the concentrations increases.

Simulation and Experimental Investigation of Performance and Flow Behavior for Steam Ejector Refrigeration System
...Show More Authors

The ejector refrigeration system is a desirable choice to reduce energy consumption. A Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD simulation using the ANSYS package was performed to investigate the flow inside the ejector and determine the performance of a small-scale steam ejector. The experimental results showed that at the nozzle throat diameter of 2.6 mm and the evaporator temperature of 10oC, increasing boiler temperature from 110oC to 140oC decreases the entrainment ratio by 66.25%. At the boiler temperature of 120oC, increasing the evaporator temperature from 7.5 to 15 oC increases the entrainment ratio by 65.57%. While at the boiler temperature of 120oC and

Mean Monte Carlo Finite Difference Method for Random Sampling of a Nonlinear Epidemic System
...Show More Authors

In this article, a numerical method integrated with statistical data simulation technique is introduced to solve a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations with multiple random variable coefficients. The utilization of Monte Carlo simulation with central divided difference formula of finite difference (FD) method is repeated n times to simulate values of the variable coefficients as random sampling instead being limited as real values with respect to time. The mean of the n final solutions via this integrated technique, named in short as mean Monte Carlo finite difference (MMCFD) method, represents the final solution of the system. This method is proposed for the first time to calculate the numerical solution obtained fo

Characteristics of mandibular injuries caused by bullets and improvised explosive devices: a comparative study
...Show More Authors

The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in mandibular trauma caused by two mechanisms for the delivery of missile injuries: firearms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The data investigated included sex, age, mechanism of injury, and other clinical and radiographic manifestations. Seventy consecutive patients, predominantly male, with a mean age of 28.6 ± 14 years (range 2–60 years) were enrolled: 38 patients (54.3%) sustained mandibular fractures caused by bullet injuries and 32 patients (45.7%) had mandibular fractures caused by IED explosion injuries. The study revealed that the differences in most of the investigated variables were not statistically significant; the only significant differences were the inci

New derivative of chitosan based on epichlorohydrne, synthesis, characterization, antibacterial activity and swelling study
...Show More Authors

A novel series of chitosan derivatives were synthesized via reaction of chitosan with carbonyl compounds and grafted it’s by with different amine compounds substituted hydrogen. The produced polymers were characterized by different analyses FTIR, 1HCNMR, XRD, DSC and TGA. Solubility in water as well as many solvent was investigated, antibacterial activity of chitosan and its derivatives against two types of bacteria E. coli and S. aureus was also investigated. The results showed that derivatives sort of have antibacterial activities against Esherichia coli (Gram negative) better than chitosan whilst compound IX has better antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive). SEM analysis showed that increase of surface roughness wi

Synthesis and Antibacterial Screening of New Schiff Bases Based on N-(4-acetophenyl) Succinimide
...Show More Authors

A series of nine new Schiff bases based on N-(4-acetophenyl)succinimide were synthesized via multistep synthesis. In the first step N-(4-acetophenyl)succinamic acid was prepared via reaction of succinic anhydride with 4-aminoacetophenone. The prepared amic acid was dehydrated in the second step producing N-(4-acetophenyl)succinimide. The prepared succinimide represents a modified methyl ketone bearing succinimde cycle and ready for introducing in condensation reaction thus in the third step the prepared imide was introduced in acid-catalyzed condensation reaction with a variety of primary aromatic amines affording the new target Schiff bases. The results of antibacterial screening of the newly synthesized Schiff bases indicated that they

Immunization of White Mice against Hydatid Cyst Using Antigen B and Excretion - Secretion Antigen
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was  toward the possibility of producing antigen that has  the ability to stimulate the immune response against the infection with the  hydatid cyst. To do so antigens were extracted from sheep hydatid cyst fluid of  Echinococcus granulosus .These were: 1- The hydatid cyst fluid called antigen B. 2- Excretion-secretion called ES antigen. 3-B/ES antigen is a mixture (1:1) of the above two antigens. Three concentrations   (15, 30 and 60 µg/ml) from antigen B/ES were prepared to immunize the white mice (males)  with 20 µg/gr body weight and one booster dose  (10 µg/gr) to stimulate immunity.      The efficiency of t

Synthesis of 5‐Fluorouracil–Naproxen Conjugates as a Mutual Prodrug for Targeting Cancer Tissues
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A new 5‐fluorouracil–naproxen conjugate is synthesized as a mutual prodrug for targeting cancer tissues. The structure of the target compound and their intermediate are characterized by their melting point, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental microanalysis. The cytotoxic activity is preliminarily evaluated using nonsmall lung cancer CRL‐2049, human breast cancer CAL‐51, and one type of normal cell line; rat embryo fibroblast cell line. The synthesized compound shows a good cytotoxic effect at the cancer cell and no significant effect at rat embryo fibroblast cell line.</p>

Association of HLA-DRB1/DQB1 Alleles and Genetic Susceptibility to Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
...Show More Authors

Objective: This study was conducted to identify the association of HLA-DRB1/DQB1 genes with the susceptibility or resistance to type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) among patients between the ages of five and eighteen.

Subjects and Methods: The study included 200 Sudanese participants, ages ranging from 5 to 18. One hundred participants were healthy non-diabetic as the control group and 100 with T1D as the case group. The investigation was carried out in Khartoum state. The selection of patients with T1D was from diabetic centers and hospitals. The allele-specific-refractory mutation system-polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR) techniq
