Structural, electrical and optical properties of CdS thin films and the effect of annealing on photoconductivity

Cadmium sulfide (CdS) thin films with n-type semiconductor characteristics were prepared by flash evaporating method on glass substrates. Some films were annealed at 250 oC for 1hr in air. The thicknesses of the films was estimated to be 0.5µ by the spectrometer measurement. Structural, morphological, electrical, optical and photoconductivity properties of CdS films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, AFM, the Hall effect, optical transmittance spectra and photoconductivity analysis, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern shows that CdS films are in the stable hexagonal crystalline structure. Using Debye Scherrerś formula, the average grain size for the samples was found to be 26 nm. The transmittance of the samples was determined from optical trasmittance spectra. It is observed that the direct band gap energy for as deposited and annealed films are (2.55, 2.45) eV, respectively. The effect of annealing at 250 oC for 1hr in air on optical and photoconductivity of films under various intensity of illuminations (43.81 and 115.12) mW/cm2 was studied. The dark and photocurrents of the annealed films were found to be greater than that of as deposited.

The Effect of Increasing Carbon Concentration Increasing on the Mechanical Properties of TiCx Thin Films

Carbides or nitrides thin films present materials with good mechanical properties for industrial applications as they can be coatings at low temperatures serve temperature sensitive surfaces. In this work the effect of the C percentage on the mechanical properties represented by the Young modulus (E) of combinatorial magnetron sputtered TiCx (34%x˂65%) has been studied. The structure of the produced films is TiC independent on the C concentration. The mechanical properties are increased with increasing the C concentration up to 50%, and then decreasing with further C % increasing. These results can be explained by considering the resultant residual stresses.

Synthesis Characterization and Optical Properties of Nanostructured Zinc Sulfide Thin Films Obtained by Spray Pyrolysis Deposition

In this work, nanostructure zinc sulfide (ZnS) thin films at temperature of substrate 450 oC and thickness (120) nm have been produced by chemical spray pyrolysis method. Band Gap Characterization of Thermally Treated Hybrid Blend ZnPc/CdS Thin Films

Spin coating technique used to prepare ZnPc, CdS and ZnPc/CdS blend thin films, these films annealed at 423K for 1h, 2h and 3h. Optical behavior of these films were examined using UV-Vis. and PL. The absorption spectrum of ZnPc shows a decreasing in absorption with the increase of annealing time while CdS spectrum give a clearly absorption peak at~510 nm. Energy gap of ZnPc increases from 1.41 to 1.52 eV by increasing the annealing time. Eg of CdS decrease by increasing annealing time, from 2.3 eV to 2.2 eV. Study of Optical Properties of HgTe Films

Alloy of (HgTe) has been prepared succesful in evacuated qurtz ampoule at pressure 4×10-5torr, and melting temperature equal to 823K for five days. Thin films of HgTe of thickness 1μm were deposited on NaCl crystal by thermal evaporation technique at room temperature under vacuum about 4×10-5torr as well as investiagtion in the optical porperties included (absorption coefficient , energy gap) of HgTe films and The optical measurements showed that HgTe film has direct energy gap equal to 0.05 eV. Electrical and Structural Properties of CuBa2LaCa2Cu4O11+δ Superconducting System

The electrical resistivity has been measured using four probe test to find the critical temperature Tc(offset) and Tc(onset). Structural and electrical properties of CdO/porous-Si heterojunction

The structural, optical, and electrical properties of CdO (50:50) thin film prepared by rapid thermal oxidation were examined. Morphological and Optical Properties of CdS Quantum Dots Synthesized with different pH values

Quantum dots (QDs) of cadmium sulfide (CdS) was prepared by chemical
reaction method with different potential of hydrogen (pH) values. The
morphological and optical measurements of cadmium sulfide QDs were considered
by atomic force microscopy (AFM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS.) and
photoluminescence (PL) spectrometer respectively. The energy gap (Eg) was
calculated from photoluminescence spectra were found to be about 2.7, 2.6 and 2.5
eV at pH values 8, 10 and 12 respectively for CdS QDs. The decreasing of energy
gaps is rises from the effect the pH solution increases, which in turn leads to the
shifted of the PL spectrum toward red shifted, which creates the energy bands at
surface states are shallow bands.

Optical and structural properties of synthesized ZnO nanorods through chemical bath deposition on various substrates

Chemical bath deposition was used to synthesize ZnO nanorods (NRs) on glass and fluorine_doped tin oxide (FTO) substrates. X-ray diffraction was performed to examine the crystallinity of ZnO nanorod. Results showed that ZnO NRs had a wurtzite crystal structure. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images showed that glass sample had rod-like structure distribution with (50 nm) diameter and average length of approximately (700 nm), whereas the FTO-coated glass sample had 25 nm diameter and average length of approximately 950 nm.
