Comparative study between pure bacterocin and vancomycin on biofilms of MRSA isolated from medical implants
...Show More Authors

Thirty swabes of medical implants were collected from Al-Yarmouk's hospital which were cultured on manitole agar to isolate Staphelococcus aureus . Only four samples gave positive results with this media. It was used ten types of antibiotics to test the sensitivity of this bacterium against them. All isolates of S. aureus were recorded as multidrug resistant and were considered as MRSA. One pledge alternative therapy is the utilize of certain pure bacterocin MIC (32.5 to 62.5 μg/ml) and it was compared with vancomycin (200-400 μg/ml) with average of (8 – 15) mm diameter of inhibition zones recpectively. The first reduction of biofilm formation ability has been proved in catheters when treatedby pure bacterocin. The test shows the highes

Synthesis, characterization and anticonvulsant evaluation of new derivatives derived from 5-methoxy-2-mercapto benzimidazole
...Show More Authors

A new series of 5-methoxy-2-mercapto benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 5-methoxy- 2-mercaptobenzimidazole with chloroacetic acid and affords 2-((5-methoxy-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)thio) acetic acid (1),which on cyclization with acetic anhydride and pyridine gives 7- methoxybenzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazol- 3(2H)-one(2), which on condensation with different aryl aldehydes in the presence of anhydrous sodium acetate in glacial acetic acid, furnishes a arylidene thiazolidinone. The purity of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by melting point and TLC.The structures were established by different spectral analysis such as FTIR,1HNMR, and CHN analysis. The newly synthesized compounds (3a-d) were in vivo evaluated f

Genetic Comparative Study of Staphyolococcus aureus& Staphylococcus epidermidis Isolated from Wounds, Burns and Skin Flora
...Show More Authors

One hundred specimens from wounds, burns, and skin swabs were collected
from patients laying and attended to Balad general hospital. It was found that 50
isolates belong to Staphylococcus spp., 38 isolates were identified as S. aureus and
12 isolates were identified as S. epidermidis according to microscopic, cultural and
biochemical testing. The study of seven extracellular enzyme as virulence factors
including the enzymes: urease, lipase, DNase, haemolysin, coagulase, β-lactamase,and lecithinase. Reavealed that 100% of S.aureus had the ability to produce these
enzymes, while S. epidermidis isolates were unable to produce the enzymes DNase,
lipase, coagulase, but they were capable to produce haemolysin, urease, lec

Heavy Metal Resistance of Aeromonas hydrophila Isolated from Raw and Drinking Water in Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

A total of 551 water samples (drinking and raw water) were collected In this study, Aeromonas.hydrophila, were detected by biochemical tests and PCR (16s rRNA gene). The results of identification showed that A.hydrophila had recovery rate 63 isolates (49.21%). The results revealed that all A.hydrophila isolates were PCR positive or the 16S rRNA gene and the results of sequencing showed that two isolates of A.hydrophila(local isolates) had percentage similarities 100% with A. hydrophila ATCC 7966 in GenBank database .All strains had a minimal Inhibitory Concentration(MIC) distribution pattern for lead cetate rranged (900-1200 μg/ml), and mercury chloride ranged (40-80 μg /ml).

Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Study of Some Transition Metal Complexes Derived from Quinoxaline-2,3-Dione
...Show More Authors

The present paper describes the synthesis and structural studies of new transition metal complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and cadmium(II) with two bi dentate ligands derived from quinoxaline-2,3-dione. The two ligands were fully identified by elemental analyses, FT-IR, NMR and UV-Visible spectra. The metal complexes of  Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) were isolated in the solid state after reactions of their metal chlorides with the ligands in 2:1 mole ratio. The isolated solid metal complexes were characterized with the help of elemental analyses, NMR, FT-IR and UV-Visible spectra. As well as the thermal stability of the coordinated quinoxaline polymers were tested by TG-DSC analysis and it is found th

Biosorption of Lead and Chromium Ions by Using Penicillium digitatum (Pers.) Sacc. from Industrial Water
...Show More Authors

Some microorganisms, including fungi, are characterized by their removal efficiency and reducing the concentrations of heavy metals such as Pb and Cr from industrial water. The present study aims to estimate the efficiency of Penicillium digitatum (Pers.) Sacc. as a low-cost biosorbent in reducing Pb and Cr from industrial water with optimum biosorption conditions (acidity of 1.5 , 4, and 5; temperature of 30 °C). The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was also used for determining the roles of the functional groups in this biosorbent. The results indicated that the highest P. digitatum efficiency values for reducing the levels of Pb and Cr were 84% and 70% , respectively, at pH of 5 after 24 h.

Bacteriological and Molecular Study of Fluoroquinolones Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated From Different Clinical Sources
...Show More Authors

The present study was conducted to investigate the resistance of fluoroquinolones (FQs) and the effects of mutations in the resistance gene in clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa isolated from different sources in Al-Hussein Hospital, Al-Samawah city, Iraq. The basic mechanism of the resistant of fluoroquinolones in P. aeruginosa is via mutations occurring in the basic bacterial gyrA gene encoding-subunit A of DNA gyrase . Forty clinical isolates from various sourced  (burn 7 (17.5 %), wound 7 (17.5 %), ear 2 (5 %), operation room 12 (30 %), urine 3 (7.5 %), and industrial dialysis center 9 (22.5 %)) were isolated based on bacteriological methods confirmed by 16s rRNA gene using PCR technique. Detection of interleukin-6 and interleukin-8 in serum from women with recurrent spontaneous abortion
...Show More Authors

To investigate the role of IL-6 and IL-8 in the immune-regulatory mechanisms involved in the recurrent spontaneous abortion of the first trimester of pregnancy. Serum level of IL-6 and IL-8 were determined in 25 women of age (20-35) years who had a spontaneous abortion of unknown aetiology during the first trimester of pregnancy .They were compared with the corresponding levels of 20 pregnant and non-pregnant women as control groups .cytokine levels were measured by (ELISA) technique .The women with spontaneous abortion had highly significant (P < 0.01) increased serum level of IL-8 and highly significant (P < 0.01 ) decreased level of IL-6 compared to those with normal pregnant and non-pregnant women. The results of this study ma
