Photocatalytic Activity and Wettability Properties of ZnO/Sawdust/Epoxy Composites
...Show More Authors

In this work, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) and sawdust/epoxy composite (20:80) were mixed using a simple molding method with different ZnONPs concentrations of (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 %). The samples of the nanocomposites were characterized by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) technique to demonstrate the homogeneity of the prepared ZnONPs/nanocomposites. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was examined using the methylene blue (MB) dye as a pollutant solution, through evaluation of the efficiency of the prepared compound in the treatment of organic pollutants under illumination by sunlight. The photocatalytic results showed that after 240 minutes of exposure to sunlight, the sample prepared using (0.5 vol.% of ZnONPs) appeared to rapid degradation of MB dye, with photolysis efficiency of 89% and 71% for dye concentrations 5 and 10 ppm, respectively. Wettability results confirmed that the water contact angles of samples (WCAs) were affected by the concentration of ZnONPs.

Improve Wettability of Polycaprolactone (PCL) /Chitosan of Wound Dressings by Plasma Jet
...Show More Authors

Surface wettability plays a significant role in determining the function of the wound dressing. They should have hydrophobic surfaces  for the adsorption of bacteria and  a hydrophilic surface  necessary to improve cell attachment for most anchorage-dependent cell types. Furthermore, the Hydrophobicity / Hydrophilicity of the surface can be used to direct cellular processes such as cell initial correlation, adhesion, and migration during wound healing, as a result such surface can change its surface wettability which increases the dressing's usefulness.

In this research, nanomembres were prepared from polycaprolactone and chitosan solution (with different amounts of CS (0.05, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4) % (w/w)) by the electrospinning m

Wear and mechanical prop erties of epoxy/MgO-SiO2 hybrid nanocomposites
...Show More Authors

Preparation of epoxy/MgO and epoxy/SiO2 nanocomposites is
studding. The nano composites were processed by different nano
fillers concentrations (0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.07 and
0.1 wt%). Epoxy resin and nanocomposites containing different
shape nano fillers of (MgO:SiO2 composites), are shear mixing with
ratio 1:1,with different nano hybrid fillers concentrations (0.025,
0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 and 0.25 wt%) to preparation of epoxy/(MgOSiO2)
hybrid nanocomposites. Experimental tests results indicate that
the composite materials have significantly higher modulus of
elasticity than the matrix material but the hybrid nanocomposites
have lower modulus of elasticity. The wear rate was decreased in

Green Synthesis and the Study of Some Physical Properties of MgO Nanoparticles and Their Antibacterial Activity
...Show More Authors

Magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPs) were synthesized by a green method using the peels of Persimmon extract as the reducing agent , magnesium nitrate, and NaOH. This method is eco-friendly and non-toxic. In this study, an ultrasound device was used to reduce the particle size, with the impact on the energy gap was set at the beginning at 5.39 eV and then turned to 4.10 eV. The morphological analysis using atomic force microscopy (AFM)  showed that the grain size for MgO NPs was 67.70 nm which became 42.33 nm after the use of the ultrasound. The shape of the particles was almost spherical and became cylindrical.  In addition the Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) analysis sh

Indium doped ZnO Urbach energy and dispersion parameters of thin films
...Show More Authors

The characterization of ZnO and ZnO:In thin films were confirmed by spray pyrolysis technique. The films were deposited onto glass substrate at a temperature of 450°C. Optical absorption measurements were also studied by UV-VIS technique in the wavelength range 300-900 nm which was used to calculate the optical constants. The changes in dispersion and Urbach parameters were investigated as a function of In content. The optical energy gap was decreased and the wide band tails were increased in width from 616 to 844 eV as the In content increased from 0wt.% to 3wt.%. The single–oscillator parameters were determined also the change in dispersion was investigated before and after doping.

In this research, we prepared a hybrid composite material of polymeric matrix hand cast method, composite material has been attended from epoxy resin EP as matrix materials reinforced woven roving fiber jute is constant volume fraction (13%), PVC fibers and woven glass fiber with different fraction on the properties of prepared composite materials to PVC fiber and glass fiber, some of mechanical tests were done at room temperature (impact test and banding test). Result shows that the values of (modulus bending elastic and fracture toughness) increase fraction of fiber with the increase of PVC, E-glass, there include (thermal conductivity and dielectric constant). Also experimental result indicated that the (thermal conductivity and diele

Desulfurization of gas oil using a solar photocatalytic microreactor
...Show More Authors

The present work is devoted to investigate the performance of a homemade Y-shape catalytic microreactor for degradation of dibenzothiophene (DBT), as a model of sulphur compounds including in gas oil, utilizing solar incident energy. The microchannel was coated with TiO2 nanoparticles which were used as a photocatalyst. Performance of the microreactor was investigated using different conditions (e.g., DBT concentration, LHSV, operating temperature, and (H2O2/DBT) ratio). Our experiments show that, in the absence of UV light, no reaction takes place. The results revealed that outlet concentration of DBT decreases as the mean residence time in the microreactor increases. Also, it was noted that operating temperature s

Heterogeneous Photocatalytic Degradation for Treatment of Oil from Wastewater
...Show More Authors

In the present study, advanced oxidation process / heterogeneous photocatalytic process (UV/TiO2/Fenton) system was investigated to the treatment of oily wastewater. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration H2O2, initial amount of the iron catalyst Fe+2, pH, temperature, amount of TiO2 and the concentration of oil in the wastewater.  The removal efficiency for the system UV/TiO2/Fenton at optimal conditions and dosage (H2O2 = 400mg/L, Fe+2 = 40mg/L, pH=5, temperature =30oC, TiO2=75mg/L) for 1000mg/L load was found to be 77%.

Studying the Effect of Addition Particles of Alumina (Al2O3) and Zirconia (ZrO2), on Some Mechanical Properties for Matrix Composites (Al-Si-Mg) Alloy
...Show More Authors

This study is concerned with the effect of adding two kinds of ceramic materials on the mechanical properties of (Al-7%Si- 0.3%Mg) alloy, which are zirconia with particle size (20μm > P.S ≥ 0.1μm) and alumina with particle size (20μm > P.S ≥ 0.1μm) and adding them to the alloy with weight ratios (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1%). Stirring casting method has been used to make composite material by using vortex technique which is used to pull the particles to inside the melted metals and distributed them homogenously.

After that solution treatment was done to the samples at (520ºC) and artificial ageing at (170ºC) in different times, it has been noticed that the values of hardness is increased with the aging time of the o
