Evaluation of 532 nm Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser and Acid Etching of Class V Composite Restoration: Comparative Histological Study
...Show More Authors

Laser etching may be an alternative to acid etching of enamel and dentin. Several characteristics of irradiated dental hard tissues have been considered advantageous, microscopically rough surfaces without demineralization, open dentinal tubules without smear layer production and dentin surface sterilization. The aim of this study is to determine and compare histology the microleakage in class V cavity restored with a light cured composite after conditioning the samples(tooth surface) with 1-acid etching, 2-Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser etching and finally 3- acid and laser etching. Materials and methods: Twenty four non carious human extracted teeth were used in this study. The samples were equally grouped into four groups of six teeth each. A class V cavity was prepared. In group I, tooth surface was etched with a 37% phosphoric acid gel. In group II, the tooth surface was conditioned using a pulsed Nd:YAG Laser alone with a wavelength of 532 nm. The parameters were of pulse energy 60 mJ, pulse repetition rate 6Hz and energy density was 0.48 J/cm2. In group III, the tooth surface was treated with Nd: YAG Laser and then was etched with phosphoric acid. In group IV, the surface was treated with 37% phosphoric acid then irradiated with Nd: YAG Laser; with the same parameters and concentration mentioned in group I and II. The samples immersed in 1% basic fuschin dye to mimic the normal stains in oral cavity and the sections were examined by a stereomicroscope and the readings were scored. Results: The results showed that group IV, in which the surface was treated with 37% phosphoric acid and then irradiated with Nd: YAG Laser) recorded the least microleakage of the four groups, where group III, in which the tooth surface was treated with Nd: YAG Laser and then was etched with phosphoric acid)recorded reasonable results better than group I (group I tooth surface was etched with a 37% phosphoric acid gel) or group II , in which the tooth surface was conditioned using a pulsed Nd:YAG Laser alone) Conclusion: The use of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser in etching the tooth surface was so effective that it can be used in treating or conditioning the tooth surface to enhance bonding and the best parameters among the tested samples were pulse energy of 60mJ, pulse repetition rate of 6Hz and energy density 0.48 J/cm2.

FREE VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE LAMINATED PLATES USING HOST 12
...Show More Authors

This paper presents an application of a Higher Order Shear Deformation Theory (HOST 12) to problem
of free vibration of simply supported symmetric and antisymmetric angle-ply composite laminated plates.
The theoretical model HOST12 presented incorporates laminate deformations which account for the effects
of transverse shear deformation, transverse normal strain/stress and a nonlinear variation of in-plane
displacements with respect to the thickness coordinate – thus modeling the warping of transverse crosssections more accurately and eliminating the need for shear correction coefficients. Solutions are obtained in
closed-form using Navier’s technique by solving the eigenvalue equation. Plates with varying number of

Experimental & Theoretical Analysis of Composite (Polyester & Silicon-Carbide) Cantilever Beam
...Show More Authors

A cantilever beam is made from composite material which is consist of (matrix: polyester) and (particles: Silicon-Carbide) with different volume fraction of particles. A force is applied at the free end of beam with different values. The experimental maximum deflection of beam which occurs at the point of the applied load is recorded. The deflection and slope of beam are analyzed by using FEM modeling. MATLAB paltform is built to assemble the equations, vector and matrix of FEM and solving the unknown variables (deflection and slope) at each node. Also ANSYS platform is used to modeling beam in finite element and solve the problem. The numerical methods are used to compare the results with the theoretical and experimental data. A good ag

Vibration Analysis of Laminated Composite Plate under Thermo- Mechanical Loading
...Show More Authors

The present study focused mainly on the vibration analysis of composite laminated plates subjected to
thermal and mechanical loads or without any load (free vibration). Natural frequency and dynamic
response are analyzed by analytical, numerical and experimental analysis (by using impact hammer) for
different cases. The experimental investigation is to manufacture the laminates and to find mechanical
and thermal properties of glass-polyester such as longitudinal, transverse young modulus, shear modulus,
longitudinal and transverse thermal expansion and thermal conductivity. The vibration test carried to
find the three natural frequencies of plate. The design parameters of the laminates such as aspect ratio,
thickness

In this study, industrial fiber and polymer mixtures were used for high-speed impact (ballistic) applications where the effects of polymer (epoxy), polymeric
mixture (epoxy + unsaturated polyester), synthetic rubber (polyurethane), Kevlar fiber, polyethylene fiber (ultra High molecular weight) and carbon fiber.
Four successive systems of samples were prepared. the first system component made of (epoxy and 2% graphene and 20 layer of fiber), then ballistic test was
applied, the sample was successful in the test from a distance of 7 m. or more than, by using a pistol personally Glock, Caliber of 9 * 19 mm. The second
system was consisting of (epoxy, 2% graphene, 36 layers of fiber and one layer of hard rubber), it was succeeded

Mechanical Properties Investigation of Composite Material Under Different Parameters Variations
...Show More Authors

The main objective of this research is to design and select a composite plate to be used in fabricating wing skins of light unman air vehicle (UAV). The mechanical properties, weight and cost are the basis criteria of this selection. The fiber volume fraction, fillers and type of fiber with three levels for each were considered to optimize the composite plate selection. Finite element method was used to investigate the stress distribution on the wing at cruise flight condition in addition to estimate the maximum stress. An experiments plan has been designed to get the data on the basis of Taguchi technique. The most effective parameters at the process to be find out by employing L9

The relationship among bite force with facial dimensions and dental arches widths in a sample of Iraqi adults with Class I skeletal and dental relations

Background: This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship among the bite force with facial dimensions and dental arches in a sample of Iraqi adults with Class I skeletal and dental relations. Materials and methods: Forty dental students (20 males and 20 females) were selected under certain criteria. For those individuals, dental impressions, frontal facial photographs and maximum bite force at molar and incisor regions were taken. The dental arches widths and facial dimensions were measured using the AutoCAD program 2007, while the bite force was determined using special device. Descriptive statistics for the measured variables were performed and gender difference was determined using independent sample t-test, while the rel

The therapeutic value of the phenolic component and pure thymol was well known; this study comprised the extraction of crude phenol from two plants (Thymus vulgaris and Artemisia annua) which contain thymol with pure thymol and evaluate their effect on hematological and histological by using three different concentrations of each plant extract and pure thymol to tested them on lab mice. All the mice were allowed free access to water and feed for 21 days in laboratory conditions; orally, pure water was administered to the control mice (group I), while groups II, III, and IV were given orally with T. vulgaris, A. annua, combination of last two crude phenol plant extract 50:50 and pure thymol respectively. The levels of CHO, TRI, and HDL were
