TREATMENT OF SYMPTOMATIC CERVICAL ECTOPY USING CO2 LASER (10600 nm) – Case Study
...Show More Authors

Background: Cervical ectopy advanced to erosion is one of the common conditions in gynecological and pathological study. It is considered as a physiologic condition resulting from columnar epithelium migration from the cervical canal into the vaginal portion of the cervix, in which no treatment for asymptomatic cervical ectropion can be given. Treatment can be accomplished via thermal cauterization (Electro cautery), Cryosurgery. CO2 laser therapy is another modality of treatment.

Objective: To study the effectiveness of CO2 laser therapy and evaluate it as a biomedical tool for the treatment of cervical ectropion. The study was done at Laser Medicine Research Clinic at the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad during a period of three months from (1st August  to 30th October) 2018.

Methods: Ten female Patients with age range between 22 to 40 years old who attended the private clinic or the outpatient clinic of Al-Imamain Al-Kadhmain Medical City and diagnosed with cervical ectropion. Patients were diagnosed clinically as having cervical ectropion. Pap smear was done   to   all   patients at the Department of Health (Pap smear unit) at Al-Imamain Al-Kadhmain Medical City in order to exclude an underlying dysplasia. The patients were subjected to CO2 laser therapy at a continuous mode. All patients were subjected to continuous wave laser and the range of power from 5 up to 10 Watt. The exposure time ranged from 1-2 minutes.

Results: From all studied patients only three had mild bleeding during procedure and there was no pain reported during procedure except mild pain in two patients. So, simple analgesia (mefenamic acid 500 mg.) was given to them. No need for a prophylactic antibiotic in all patients.  After two weeks follow up, the findings were slight vaginal discharge, no slough. Complete healing of erosion was noticed by the 4th week after procedure.

Conclusion: Laser therapy with CO2 10600nm at specific parameters was effective in treating women with cervical ectropion, which was non-invasive and acceptable by the women as a method of treatment, by laser we can treat precisely the affected area without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue.

Passive Design Strategies to Enhance Natural Ventilation in Buildings "Election of Passive Design Strategies to Achieve Natural Ventilation in Iraqi Urban Environment with Hot Arid Climate"
...Show More Authors

The natural ventilation in buildings is one of effective strategies for achieving energy efficiency in buildings by employing methods and ways of passive design, as well as its efficiency in providing high ranges of thermal comfort for occupants in buildings and raises their productivity. Because the concept of natural ventilation for many people confined to achieve through the windows and openings only, become necessary to provide this research to demonstrate the various passive design strategies for natural ventilation. Then, research problem: Insufficient knowledge about the importance and mechanism of the application of passive design strategies for natural ventilation in buildings. The research objective is: Analysis of passive desi

Pharmacokinetic Consideration to Formulate Sustained Release Drugs: Understanding the Controlled Drug Diffusion through the Body Compartment of the Systemic Circulation and Tissue Medium-A Caputo Model
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to provide an overview of various models to study drug diffusion for a sustained period into and within the human body. Emphasized the mathematical compartment models using fractional derivative (Caputo model) approach to investigate the change in sustained drug concentration in different compartments of the human body system through the oral route or the intravenous route. Law of mass action, first-order kinetics, and Fick's perfusion principle were used to develop mathematical compartment models representing sustained drug diffusion throughout the human body. To adequately predict the sustained drug diffusion into various compartments of the human body, consider fractional derivative (Caputo model) to investiga

Amis: NAFLD is considered to be the most common cause of liver conditions worldwide. Also, it is a primary reason that leads to coronary artery diseases, limiting blood flow to the heart. Therefore, This study aimed to evaluate the serum level of Nesfatin-1 and its ability to indicate the prognosis of CAD in patients with NAFLD. Material & Methods: one-hundred eighty Individuals were enrolled in the study, including In both genders, blood was collected from each Individual and sent to the laboratory for biochemical tests. Findings: Data from the current study showed a significant increase in Nesfatin-1 in the CAD group and a significant decrease in Nesfatin-1 in the NAFLD group compared to the control group. In addition, there w

Metaphor is a linguistic phenomenon related to people's cultures. It is an integral part of cultural heritage. This paper tackles the use of animal-based metaphors in the field of football club titles so as to draw comparisons between those in Russian with their counterparts in Arabic. Names of animals are used to refer to some clubs and teams, where these names or titles reflect animal features such as strength, preying on victims; or animal figures are employed in the club symbols, or due to the similarity of the club shirt to the animal outer shapes in colours. For instance, "an-Nawaris", which means gulls in English, is used to refer to az-Zawraa club du
