Treatment of Striae Grvidarum as a Type of Striae Distensae Using Long Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser (1064nm) and Fractional CO2 Laser (10600nm)
...Show More Authors

Striae distensae SD or stretch mark are frequent skin lesion that cause considerable aesthetic concern. The 1064nm long pulsed Nd:YAG Laser has been used to promote an increase in dermal collagen and is known to be a Laser that has a high affinity to vascular chromphores. Also by using fractional CO2 Laser 10600nm as an effective modality in treatment of striae distensae SD. It works to stimulate fibroblast and enhance Collagen formation, which is important for newly generated skin tissue.

Objectives: This study aims to verify the efficacy of long pulsed Nd: YAG Laser (1064nm) in the treatment of immature striae distensae (SD) and the efficacy of C02 fractional Laser (10600nm) in treatment of mature striae distensae SD.

Patient and methods: Ten female patients with striae distensae (SD) in the abdomen formed during pregnancy period five of them had immature or recent type of striae were treated by long pulse Nd: YAG Laser 1064nm and the others  five patient had mature type of striae were treated by fractional Co2 Laser (10600nm). This study done in Laser medicine research clinic of institute of Laser for post graduate studies from July 2018 to the end of November 2018. The Age of patients range from 20-40 years old. The Laser parameter used for fractional Co2 Laser (10600nm) was 18 Watts power. Pulse duration 1.3ms, interval 1ms, with distance 1.1mm, the procedure was done under topical anesthesia (EMLA) and the number of sessions done were three sessions of one month interval. The parameter used for long pulse ND: YAG Laser (1064nm) was (51.J) energy in the first session and (70.J) in the second, pulse duration (30ms) frequency (2Hz) with spot size (10mm) with two weeks interval between the sessions, three sessions were used for every patient.

Results: The patient treated by fractional CO2 Laser (10600nm) had a change in the shape and texture of striae distensae SD from first session, and there was noticeable change  occurred in the second session regarding texture and color of striae that became faint. The patient  treated with long pulse Nd:YAG(1064nm) had good result from the second session in which the S.D line became faint with change in texture. With no or mild side effect of treatment, 90% of all patient are fully satisfied with treatment only 10% of patient showed partial satisfaction. 10% of patient had hyperpigmentation.

Conclusion: Striae can be treated by Laser as an effective and safe method with less side effect with good patient satisfaction by long pulse Nd: YAG Laser (1064nm) and fractional Co2 Laser (10600nm) to treat immature and mature striae respectively.

Determination of the Fertility of Southern Iraqi Soil Using Laser - Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy System
...Show More Authors

In this work, seven soil samples were brought brought to study and analyses the element concentrations from different southern regions of Iraq using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique. It has been documented as an atomic emission spectroscopy (AES) technique. Laser-induced plasma utilized to analyze elements in materials (gases, liquids, and solids). In order to analyze elements in materials (gases, liquids, and solid). The Nd: YAG laser excitation source at 1064 nm with pulse width 9 ns is used to generate power density of 5.5 x 1012 MW/mm2, with optical spectrum in the range 320-740 nm. From this investigation, the soil sample analysis of the southern cities of Iraqi, it is concluded that the rich soil element of P, Si,

Design and Construction of a Dust Detection System using Infrared Laser: The Case of Dust Storms in Baghdad in the Summer 2022
...Show More Authors

Iraq suffers from serious pollution with harmful particles that have important direct and indirect effects on human activities and human health. In this research, a system for detecting pollutants in the air was designed and manufactured using infrared laser technology. This system was used to detect the presence of pollutants in the dust storms that swept the city of Baghdad which could have a negative impact on human health and living organisms.

The designed detection system based on the use of infrared laser (IR) with a wavelength of 1064 nm was used for the purposes of detecting pollutants based on the scattering of the laser beam from these pollutants. The system was aligned to obtain the best signal for the scattered rays, w

Experimental Study of Spatial Self-Phase Modulation (SSPM) Based on Laser Beam and Hybrid Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes/Silver Nanoparticles (F-Mwcnts/Ag-Nps) Acetone Suspensions
...Show More Authors

Focusing of Gaussian laser beam through nonlinear media can induce spatial self- phase modulation which forms a far field intensity pattern of concentric rings. The nonlinear refractive index change of material depends on the number of pattern rings. In this paper, a formation of tunable nonlinear refractive index change of hybrid functionalized carbon nanotubes/silver nanoparticles acetone suspensions (F-MWCNTs/Ag-NPs) at weight mixing ratio of 1:3 and volume fraction of 6x10-6 , 9x10-6 , and 18x10-6 using laser beam at wavelength of 473nm was investigated experimentally. The results showed that tunable nonlinear refractive indices were obtained and increasing of incident laser power density led to increase the nonlinear refractive inde

Colistin as A Good Monotherapy to Restrain the Pathogenicity of Acinetobacter baumannii In vivo and In vitro
...Show More Authors

Acinetobacter baumannii  (A. baumannii) is a major opportunistic nosocomial pathogen, mostly resistant to several groups of antibiotics. Colistin is now used as a last-line treatment for isolates that are highly resistant. The purpose of this study is to identify the importance of LptD; which is involved in the translocation of LPS from the inner membrane to the outer membrane in compartment with LptA and LptC of A. baumannii and its indispensable role as a virulence factor, and the efficiency of colistin as a monotherapy. In the current research, two isolates of A.baumannii were used, the local isolate HHR1 isolated from urine sample and the global strain ATCC 17904, and three antibiot

A three-stage blumlein-circuit to generate transversely excited atmospheric nitrogen laser by using three spark gaps
...Show More Authors

In this research constructed N2 laser system by use developed method of electric discharge. In this method used four step of electric discharge by using four capacitors, three spark gaps, high tension power supply varying in range from 12kV to 24 kV and three resistors, this method called three stage blumlein circuit. The breakdown time delay of these parallel spark gaps cement strong ultraviolet preionization in the laser channel, thus the result of these amendments the laser output is many doubled and is more increasing than that obtained using the one and two stage blumlein circuits. This system has been designed and operated to give pulse laser with wavelength at 337.1 nm. This laser system can operate without mirrors and optical res
