Using Artificial Neural Network to Predict Rate of Penetration from Dynamic Elastic Properties in Nasiriya Oil Field
...Show More Authors

The time spent in drilling ahead is usually a significant portion of total well cost. Drilling is an expensive operation including the cost of equipment and material used during the penetration of rock plus crew efforts in order to finish the well without serious problems. Knowing the rate of penetration should help in speculation of the cost and lead to optimize drilling outgoings. Ten wells in the Nasiriya oil field have been selected based on the availability of the data. Dynamic elastic properties of Mishrif formation in the selected wells were determined by using Interactive Petrophysics (IP V3.5) software based on the las files and log record provided. The average rate of penetration and average dynamic elastic properties for the studied wells was determined and listed with depth. Laboratory measurements were conducted on core samples selected from two wells from the studied wells. Ultrasonic device was used to measure the transit time of compressional and shear waves and to compare these results with log records. The reason behind that is to check the accuracy of the Greenberg-Castagna equation that was used to estimate the shear wave in order to calculate dynamic elastic properties. The model was built using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict the rate of penetration in Mishrif formation in the Nasiriya oil field for the selected wells. The results obtained from the model were compared with the provided rate of penetration from the field and the Mean Square Error (MSE) of the model was 3.58 *10-5.

A square experimental arena with vegetation on one interior side was deployed in a Sharjah, United Arab Emirates desert. Individual darkling beetles (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae) Akis subtricostata Redtenbacher, 1850 and Trachyderma philistina Reiche and Saulcy, 1857 were placed inside the arena at temperatures ranging between 27 - 49°C. Whether they chose the vegetated side of the arena or not was recorded, as well as how long it took for them to reach the vegetated side, if they chose it. Both species preferred the vegetated side at all temperatures, and the chance of them choosing the vegetated side increased significantly with increasing temperature (logistic regression, p = 0.0096 and p = 0.0003 for

Synthesis and characterization of ligands derived 2-hydroxy-1- naphthaldehyde and their complexes with divalent metal ions (Mn+2, Fe+2, Ni +2)
...Show More Authors

In this work, Schiff base ligands L1: N, N-bis (2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde) hydrazine, L2: N, N-bis (salicylidene) hydrazine, and L3:N –salicylidene- hydrazine were synthesized by condensation reaction. The prepared ligands were reacted with specific divalent metal ions such as (Mn2+, Fe2+, Ni2+) to prepare their complexes. The ligands and complexes were characterized by C.H.N, FT-IR, UV-Vis, solubility, melting point and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The results show that the ligands of complexes (Mn2+, Fe2+) have octahedral geometry while the ligands of complexes (Ni2+) have tetrahedral geometry.

The present work reports an approach of hydrothermal growth of ZnO nanorods, which simplifies the production of low cost films with controlled morphology for H2S gas sensor application. The prepared ZnO nanorods exhibit a hexagonal wurtzite phase analyzed by the X-ray diffraction analysis. The FTIR spectra provide information that the band located between 465-570 cm-1 corresponds to the stretching bond of Zn-O, which confirms the creation of ZnO. PL spectroscopic studies showed that the doping of Ag NPs and f-MWCNT in the ZnO matrix leads to the tuning of the bandgap. The SEM analysis showed the morphology of ZnO was the nanorods. The nanocomposites Ag/ZnO and F-MWCNT/ZnO which prepared, sep

Early Stages Non-Traumatic Avascular Necrosis of Femoral Head Treated by Core Decompression With and Without Platelets Rich Plasma Injection: A Comparative Study
...Show More Authors

Core decompression is one of the commonest used techniques in the handling of osteonecrosis of the pre-collapsed head of the femur. Core decompression had succeeded in preserving the hip joint and delaying the requisite for total hip replacement, but it had failed in the induction of osteogenesis in the necrotic area, thus augmenting core decompression with biological agents to induce osteogenic activity. To assess the effects of platelet-rich plasma in non-traumatic avascular necrosis of the hip joint (early stage) after core decompression. Interventional comparative study for twenty-four patients (32 hip joints) with AVN of the head of the femur was involved in this prospective study, and they were separated into two groups of 16
