Studying the Factors Affecting the Drag Coefficient in Non- Newtonian Fluids
...Show More Authors

The aim of this research is to study the factors affecting drag coefficient (C d ) in
non-Newtonian fluids which are the rheological properties ,concentrations of non-
Newtonian fluids, particle shape, size and the density difference between particle and
fluid .Also this study shows drag coefficient (C d ) and particle Reynolds' number (Re
P ) relationship and the effect of rheological properties on this relationship.
An experimental apparatus was designed and built, which consists of Perspex pipe
of length of 160 cm. and inside diameter of 7.8 cm. to calculate the settling velocity,
also electronic circuit was designed to calculate the falling time of particles through
fluid.
Two types of solid particles were used; glass spheres and crushed rocks as
irregularly shaped particles with different diameters and compared with each other.
The concept of equivalent spherical diameter (D S ) was used to calculate the
diameters of irregularly shaped particles.
The flow behavior for Non-Newtonian fluids was represented by Power-Law model.
Two types of polymers were used, Carboxy Methyl Cellulose CMC with
concentrations of (3.71, 5, 15 and 17.5) g/l and polyacrylamide with concentrations of
(2, 4 and 6) g/l.
The results showed that the drag coefficient decreased with increasing settling
velocity and particle diameters and sizes; and increased as fluid become far from
Newtonian behavior and concentrations and the density difference between particle
and fluid.
The results also showed that the rheological properties of Non-Newtonian fluids
have a great effect on the drag coefficient and particle Reynolds number relationship,
especially in laminar-slip regime and decreases or vanishes at transition and turbulentslip
regimes.
New correlations were obtained which relates drag coefficient with concentrations
of polymers and with flow behavior indices for spherical and irregular shaped
particles in Carboxy Methyl Cellulose CMC and polyacrylamide solutions.

The Role of Green Kaizen in Productivity Enhancement
...Show More Authors

The world is moving towards greening business in general and production systems in particular. At the same time, economic units seek to enhance their productivity and find any variables that can contribute to improving their elements. Economic units should not ignore the green dimension of cost management techniques because of its role in containing the green dimension of the production system and the product. However the few researches dealt with the subject of the green kaizen showed its role in reducing costs and improving the environment. Those researches did not address its contribution to raising the level of productivity. Productivity is an important indicator of economic units that expresses their level of success and progre

In the first chapter of the researchers theoretical framework, included the research problem, which is determined by what is the melody tetra chords in the Iraqi Folklore songs. The research time limits were specific by year (2015-2016) then the first chapter ended with the terms mentioned in the title of research. The second chapter of the theoretical framework, included two subjects the first (Iraqi Folklore song) and the second subject included (melody tetra chords) then the third chapter deals with the resea

Politics in Harold Pinter's One for the Road
...Show More Authors

Pinter's play One for the Road (1984) is considered one of his important plays because
it focuses on political issues, which he has not presented overtly before. Generally speaking,
Pinter's early plays describe man's existential fear of an unnamed danger which might be
represented by an intruder who invades the characters' solitude , threatens their peace, and
brings their hidden fears to the surface. Pinter began to write political plays as a result of his
political attitudes and his involvement in political activities over the last three decades.
Pinter's One for the Road deals with the oppressive and authoritarian operations of
state power. This play and Pinter's political plays which followed it, like Mountain

Arthur Miller’s Tragedy as Reflected in The Crucible
...Show More Authors

In the period immediately following the end of World War II, American theatre was transformed by the work of playwright Arthur Miller. Miller tapped into a sense of dissatisfaction and unrest within the greater American psyche because he was profoundly influenced by the depression and the war that immediately followed it. His dramas proved to be both the conscience and redemption of the times; allowing people an honest view of the direction the country had taken.1 Miller has his own concept of tragedy as a modern playwright. He believes that tragedy may depict ordinary people in domestic surroundings instead of talking about a character from a high rank, a king or a queen. Miller’s main concern lies in dramatizing the whole man as he i

The Turn-Taking System in American Presidential Debates
...Show More Authors

The organization and coordination of any communication is based on the system of turn-taking which refers to the process by which a participant in a conversation takes the role of speaker. The progression of any conversation is achieved by the change of roles between speaker and hearer which, in its turn, represents the heart of the turn-taking system. The turn-taking system is not a random process but it is a highly organized process governed by a set of rules. Thus, this system has certain features and rules which exist in any English communicative process. These rules, if applied by speakers, help to achieve successful exchange of turns in any conversation. This paper attempts to present full exposition of the concepts of conversation
