The aim of this research is to study the factors affecting drag coefficient (C d ) in
non-Newtonian fluids which are the rheological properties ,concentrations of non-
Newtonian fluids, particle shape, size and the density difference between particle and
fluid .Also this study shows drag coefficient (C d ) and particle Reynolds' number (Re
P ) relationship and the effect of rheological properties on this relationship.
An experimental apparatus was designed and built, which consists of Perspex pipe
of length of 160 cm. and inside diameter of 7.8 cm. to calculate the settling velocity,
also electronic circuit was designed to calculate the falling time of particles through
fluid.
Two types of solid particles were used; glass spheres and crushed rocks as
irregularly shaped particles with different diameters and compared with each other.
The concept of equivalent spherical diameter (D S ) was used to calculate the
diameters of irregularly shaped particles.
The flow behavior for Non-Newtonian fluids was represented by Power-Law model.
Two types of polymers were used, Carboxy Methyl Cellulose CMC with
concentrations of (3.71, 5, 15 and 17.5) g/l and polyacrylamide with concentrations of
(2, 4 and 6) g/l.
The results showed that the drag coefficient decreased with increasing settling
velocity and particle diameters and sizes; and increased as fluid become far from
Newtonian behavior and concentrations and the density difference between particle
and fluid.
The results also showed that the rheological properties of Non-Newtonian fluids
have a great effect on the drag coefficient and particle Reynolds number relationship,
especially in laminar-slip regime and decreases or vanishes at transition and turbulentslip
regimes.
New correlations were obtained which relates drag coefficient with concentrations
of polymers and with flow behavior indices for spherical and irregular shaped
particles in Carboxy Methyl Cellulose CMC and polyacrylamide solutions.
Background: The association between facial types and dental arches forms has considerable implications in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. The aim was to establish the maxillary and mandibular dental arches width and length in skeletal and dental class II division 1 and class III malocclusion groups, find out the most frequent dental arch form and facial type and the association between them and to check the gender differences. Materials and Methods: Frontal and lateral facial photographs and maxillary and mandibular occlussal photographs for 90 iraqi subjects with age 18-25 years old (45 males and 45 females) divided equally into three groups, the 1st group with class II division 1malocclusion (overjet more than 3mm but less t

Literature survey available so far revealed that there was no studies about Iraqi wild Awsaj phytosterols especially B-sitosterol, there for the objective of this study was to examine the efficiency of ultrasound assisted extraction (probe and bath) as compared to the conventional (Soxhlet) extraction method for extraction of phytosterols especially B-sitosterol from fruits, leaves, stems and roots of Iraqi wild Awsaj plant. This goal was achieved by comparing the extraction mass yield, also by a quick and easy approach for identification and quantification of bioac

Samples B, C and D were irradiated with (6.04×1010, 12.08×1010 and 18.12×1010 (n.cm-2s -1 ) of thermal neutron beam from a neutron source (241Am-9Be) respectively, while sample A was left not irradiated. The electrical properties were assessed both before and after the radiation. All irradiated and non-irradiated samples show three conduction mechanisms, at low temperatures, electrical conductivity is achieved by electron hopping between local states near the Fermi level. At intermediate temperatures, conduction occurs by the jumping of electrons between local states at band tails. At high temperatures, electrons transfer between extended stat

Typically, Shale formations present significant challenges to traditional drilling fluids, including fluid infiltration and shale swelling, which jeopardize wellbore stability. Although water-based drilling fluids (WBM) are environmentally preferred, their performance often requires enhancement through advanced additives. This study thus examines the synthesis of silica (SiO₂) and alumina (Al₂O₃) nanoparticles (NPs) using sustainable methods, employing Iraqi bentonite for silica and recycled aluminum scrap for alumina, to improve WBM effici

The catalytic activity of prepared faujasite type NaY, NaNH4Y and NaHY zeolites was investigated. The cracking process was carried out in the temperature range 440 to 500 oC, weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) range 10 to 25 h-1 ,and atmospheric pressure . The catalytic activities of the prepared faujasite type NaY , NaNH4Y and NaHY zeolites were determined in terms of vacuum gas oil (VGO) conversion, and gasoline yield . The conversion at 500oC and WHSV10 hr-1 by using faujasite type NaY, NaNH4Y and NaHY zeolite were 50.2%, 64.1% and 6
The research work represent a fast and simple method for the determination of methionine using chemiluminescence for the methionine-sodium hydroxide-luminol for the generation of a chemiluminesecent derivative of luminal. The emission was measured by continuous flow analysis made sample size of 83µL was used.Response versus concentration extended from 0.2-20 mM.L-1 with a percentage linearity of 96.17% or with 99.17% percentage of linearity for the range 0.6-20 mM.L-1. Reaching to a L.O.D. at (S/N=3) for 5 µM.L-1 from the gradual dilution for the minimum concentration in the calibration graph with a repeatability of less than 0.5% (n=10). A comparison was made between the new developed method with the classical method for the spectrophoto

In these 80 theses, six selected aspects of academic writing were analyzed: (a) paragraph structure, (b) length and construction of sentences, (c) organization of information in sentences, (d) vocabulary, (e) topic sentences, and (f) discourse markers. This study seeks to go beyond the traditional and often onedimensional analysis of pragmatics of argumentation in English academic writing to distinguish and describe different aspects of academic writing and their results when used by EF

Rebellion may manifest itself in rebellion against oneself, against values or traditions, or against social or governmental authority. One may find that submission plays a vital role in all of these interactions. This study deals with the problem of rebellion in the works of two renowned authors: The French Gustave Flaubert and the Israeli Amos Oz, through two main characters who share similar qualities and traits. Emma Bovary and Henna Konin demonstrate this through their rebellion against themselves, their relati
