Effluent from incompetent wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) contains a great variety of pollutants so support water treatments are essential. The present work studies the removal of phosphate species from aqueous solutions by adsorption on to spherical Calcined Sand -Clay mixture (CSCM) used a natural, local and low-cost adsorbent. Batch experiments were performed to estimate removal efficiency of phosphate. The adsorption experiments were carried out as function of pH, dose of adsorbent, initial concentration, temperature and time of adsorption. The efficient removal was accomplished for pH between 10 and 12. The experimental results also showed that the removal of phosphate by (CSCM) was rapid (the % removal 98.9%, 92%, 90%, 89% in 60 min) when the initial phosphate concentrations were at 5, 10, 15, 20 mg/l, respectively at optimum PH 10-12 and optimum dose was 5 gm/200ml. The adsorption process is time dependent. Thermodynamic studies showed that phosphate adsorption was exothermic. The effect of temperature range of 15-30 °C has been investigated. The results indicated that the temperature significantly affected phosphate adsorption on (CSCM) adsorbent. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms models indicated that both isotherms were proper to describe the adsorption characteristics of (CSCM), with Langmuir being more fit. Adsorption capacity of phosphate had equal to 0.835 mg phosphorous/g adsorbent. The study reveal that calcined sand-clay mixture is an excellent low cost material for phosphate removal in wastewater treatment process .
This work is aiming to study and compare the removal of lead (II) from simulated wastewater by activated carbon and bentonite as adsorbents with particle size of 0.32-0.5 mm. A mathematical model was applied to describe the mass transfer kinetic.
The batch experiments were carried out to determine the adsorption isotherm constants for each adsorbent, and five isotherm models were tested to choose the best fit model for the experimental data. The pore, surface diffusion coefficients and mass transfer coefficient were found by fitting the experimental data to a theoretical model. Partial differential equations were used to describe the adsorption in the bulk and solid phases. These equations were simplified and the

This study aimed to characterise the BCS class II drug ISN, particularly the possible different solid state and formulate amorphous solid dispersion aiming for a supersaturation state. Methods: ISN’s physical states are investigated in its raw form, quench-cooled form, physical mixture with the polymer and corresponding solid dispersion form. Quench-cooled ISN was prepared in situ using DSC. Carrier stabilisation of ISN was attempted using the solid dispersion technique. Hereby, the solid dispersion of drug-polymer PVPVA at a ratio of 1:3 was prepared using the solvent evaporation method. Solid dispersion, ph

Recently, there has been growing number in studies that conducted on using of recycling brick waste (RBW) to produce environmentally friendly concrete. The use of brick waste (BW) as potential partial cement or aggregate replacement materials is summarized in this review where the performance is discussed in the form of the mechanical strength and properties that related to durability of concrete. It was found that, because the pozzolanic activity of clay brick powder, it can be utilized as substitute for cement in replacement level up t

This research aims to study the effect of the internal curing using saturated lightweight aggregate- (LWA) on the steel reinforcing corrosion in SCC. In this research, crushed bricks or thermostone were partially replaced by (20%) by the weight of sand and volumetrically measured. The results showed that the steel reinforcement of internally cured concrete showed a slight increase in corrosion up to 300 days of exposure to the saline solution (containing 3.5% NaCl). The ability of using the crushed bricks or thermostone

While polymer modification addresses these issues, virgin polymers remain expensive. Despite the growing interest in recycled plastics, the rheological impact of complex waste streams, specifically polyvinyl chloride (PVC) derived from flex banners containing plasticizers, on excessively stiff binders within the complete Superpave Performance Grading (PG) framework remains critically underexplored. This study introduces a novel valorization approach by utilizing solvent-extracted flex banner waste (WPVC) as a dual-action modifier. It leverages

To our knowledge, the experimental information available in the literature for liquid-liquid equilibria of ternary mixtures containing the pair phenol-water is limited. Therefore the purpose of the present investigation is to generate the data for the water-phenol with different solvents to aid the correlation of liquid-liquid equilibria, including phase diagrams, distribution coefficients of phenol, tie-lines data and selectivity of the solvents for the aqueous phenol system.
