RESRAD is a computer model designed to estimate risks and radiation doses from residual radioactive materials in soil. Thirty seven soil samples were collected from the area around the berms of Al-Tuwaitha site and two samples as background taken from an area about 3 km north of the site. The samples were measured by gamma-ray spectrometry system using high purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The results of samples measurements showed that three contaminated area with 238U and 235U found in the study area. Two scenarios were applied for each contaminated area to estimate the dose using RESRAD (onsite) version 7.0 code. To add more details about the effect of the axial magnetic field on the plasma profile, the breakdown voltage of air was investigated at low pressure (9-15 Pa) in the presence of axial magnetic field (0.01-0.04T). The air was ignited by a DC voltage between two plain electrodes of aluminum separated by a distance (8.5cm). The measurements showed that the discharge voltage decreases to a minimum value, then returns to increase over the minimum with increasing the magnetic field strength, at all pressures in the range. Study of three dimensional seismic data of Merjan area-central Iraq has shown that the Jurassic – Cretaceous succession is affected by faulting system. Seven major normal faults were identified and mapped. Synthetic traces have been calculated by using sonic and density log data of the well Me-1.Two exploration wells were drilled in the area Me-1 and Wkf-1 wells, the distance between them is 15.82 km. Discussion about the effect of this system on the sedimentary package has been presented.
