Background: Leukemia is a group of malignant disorders
associated with increased numbers of blood white blood
cells. Acute leukemia occurs at all ages. Because zinc
influences many body systems and functions, zinc is an
essential nutrient for tissue growth, cellular division,
protein synthesis DNA and RNA replication it also ought to
play a critical role in the growth of tumor. In this study,
serum zinc was estimated in leukemic patients and
compared with healthy subjects.
Methods: The subjects in the present study were; fourtyfour depressed patients aged (14-48 year), thirty-one
apparently healthy subjects were selected as control group.

     The aim of this research is to study the effects of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) on the temperature and precipitation patterns in Baghdad city. Data of the monthly means of the NAO index,the monthlymeans of temperature, and the monthly total of precipitation were analyzed for the period 1900-2008. Non-parametric tests were used to investigate the correlations between these variables. The time series of temperature and precipitation showed no trends. The results indicated that is a slight correlation between the NAO and temperature and precipitation suggesting that NAO has no major effects on the temperature and precipitation patterns in Baghdad city.

The corrosion behavior of Zn in 0.1 M HCl solution containing various concentration of Ampicillin range (2 x 10-4 – 1x10-3) M was investigated. The corrosion rates were measured by using weight loss measurement and polarization curve, The results of polarization method obtained showed that the rate of corrosion of zinc increased with increasing the temperature from 293K to 323K and the values of inhibition efficiency of ampicillin increased with increasing the temperature and AMP concentrations, the results showed that AMP caused to protection efficiency reached to 88.8% when (1x10-3) M AMP concentration was used in 323K. Aluminum doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (AZO) with different doping concentrations were prepared by Nd-YAG laser ablation of target in deionized water. The characterization of these nanoparticles was performed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR)  spectroscopy,  scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminance spectroscopy (PL).  FTIR spectra confirmed the formation  of vibrational bonds for ZnO NPs and AZO NPs.
