Microwave Pyrolysis of Water hyacinth for Biochar Production Using Taguchi Method
...Show More Authors

The manuscript should contain an abstract. The abstract should be self-contained and citation-free and should not exceed 200 words. The abstract should state the purpose, approach, results and conclusions of the work. The author should assume that the reader has some knowledge of the subject but has not read the paper. Thus, the abstract should be intelligible and complete in it-self (no numerical references); it should not cite figures, tables, or sections of the paper. The abstract should be written using third person instead of first perso The fast microwave assisted pyrolysis (FMWAP) of water hyacinth (WH) for biochar production is investigated. Taguchi’s method was used to optimize FMWAP parameters. The effects of microwave power, temperature, microwave absorber (activated carbon) ratio, and biomass particle size on biochar yield as the response for the process, were studied. The maximum yield was achieved using the optimized conditions of microwave power-994 W; temperature-300°C; microwave absorber ratio-0.25; and biomass particle size-0.0315 mm. The reaction time was kept constant at 2 min. The analysis of Signal to Noise ratio (S/N) and variance (ANOVA) were used to identify the effect and the significance of the process parameters on biochar yield. The final results show the significance of all process parameters on biochar yield. The order of significance of these parameters are: microwave power > temperature > microwave absorber > biomass particle size. The produced biochar was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analyzer (EDX). The WH biochar has macroporous and microporous structure and amorphous in nature with some mineral oxides attached to the surface.

Unsupervised Segmentation Method for Thyroid Nodules in Ultrasound Images
...Show More Authors

Thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland located in the front of the neck just below the Adams apple. Thyroid is one of the endocrine gland, which produces hormones that help the body to control metabolism. A different thyroid disorder includes Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism, and thyroid nodules (benign/malignant). Ultrasound imaging is most commonly used to detect and classify abnormalities of the thyroid gland. Segmentation method is a tool that used widely in many applications including medical image processing. One of the common applications of segmentation is in medical image analysis for clinical diagnosis that has an important role in terms of quality and quantity.
The main objective of this research is to use the Computer-Ai

Runge-kutta Numerical Method for Solving Nonlinear Influenza Model
...Show More Authors
Abstract
The main object of this study is to solve a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODE) of the first order governing the epidemic model using numerical methods. The application under study is a mathematical epidemic model which is the influenza model at Australia in 1919. Runge-kutta methods of order 4 and of order 45 for solving this initial value problem(IVP) problem have been used. Finally, the results obtained have been discussed tabularly and graphically.

Efficient Iterative Method for Solving Korteweg-de Vries Equations
...Show More Authors

The Korteweg-de Vries equation plays an important role in fluid physics and applied mathematics. This equation is a fundamental within study of shallow water waves. Since these equations arise in many applications and physical phenomena, it is officially showed that this equation has solitary waves as solutions, The Korteweg-de Vries equation is utilized to characterize a long waves travelling in channels. The goal of this paper is to construct the new effective frequent relation to resolve these problems where the semi analytic iterative technique presents new enforcement to solve Korteweg-de Vries equations. The distinctive feature of this method is, it can be utilized to get approximate solutions for travelling waves of

Sumudu Iterative Method for solving Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations
...Show More Authors

In this paper, we apply a new technique combined by a Sumudu transform and iterative method called the Sumudu iterative method for resolving non-linear partial differential equations to compute analytic solutions. The aim of this paper is to construct the efficacious frequent relation to resolve these problems. The suggested technique is tested on four problems. So the results of this study are debated to show how useful this method is in terms of being a powerful, accurate and fast tool with a little effort compared to other iterative methods.

New Improved Heuristic Method for Solving Travelling Salesman Problem
...Show More Authors

In this paper we will investigate some Heuristic methods to solve travelling salesman problem. The discussed methods are Minimizing Distance Method (MDM), Branch and Bound Method (BABM), Tree Type Heuristic Method (TTHM) and Greedy Method (GRM).

The weak points of MDM are manipulated in this paper. The Improved MDM (IMDM) gives better results than classical MDM, and other discussed methods, while the GRM gives best time for 5≤ n ≤500, where n is the number of visited cities.

Exponentially Fitted Diagonally Implicit EDITRK Method for Solving ODEs
...Show More Authors

This paper derives the EDITRK4 technique, which is an exponentially fitted diagonally implicit RK method for solving ODEs . This approach is intended to integrate exactly initial value problems (IVPs), their solutions consist of linear combinations of the group functions and for exponentially fitting problems, with being the problem’s major frequency utilized to improve the precision of the method. The modified method EDITRK4 is a new three-stage fourth-order exponentially-fitted diagonally implicit approach for solving IVPs with functions that are exponential as solutions. Different forms of -order ODEs must be derived using the modified system, and when the same issue is reduced to a framework of equations that can be sol

Modified third order iterative method for solving nonlinear equations
...Show More Authors

Many numerical approaches have been suggested to solve nonlinear problems. In this paper, we suggest a new two-step iterative method for solving nonlinear equations. This iterative method has cubic convergence. Several numerical examples to illustrate the efficiency of this method by Comparison with other similar methods is given.

Determination of Optimal Conditions for the Production of Laccase Enzyme by Local Isolate of Bacillus sp.
...Show More Authors

Fifty isolates of Bacillus sp. were subjected to the first and second screening to detect the ability to produce laccase enzyme and select the highest ones production of laccase on Petri plates containing nutrient agar supplemented with Cu2+.
Syringaldazine was used as an indicator and substrate for the determination of laccase activity. Three isolates, which consumed less time to developed pink color were tested for the production of laccase quantitatively. The effective isolate B16 with significant amounts of laccase 1.84 unit /ml was selected for laccase study.
The optimization studies revealed that the maximum laccase production was achieved when the production medium was at the following conditions: 5 days of incubation, tempe

Prediction of Ryznar Stability Index for Treated Water of WTPs Located on Al-Karakh Side of Baghdad City using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Technique
...Show More Authors

In this research an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique was applied for the prediction of Ryznar Index (RI) of the flowing water from WTPs in Al-Karakh side (left side) in Baghdad city for year 2013. Three models (ANN1, ANN2 and ANN3) have been developed and tested using data from Baghdad Mayoralty (Amanat Baghdad) including drinking water quality for the period 2004 to 2013. The results indicate that it is quite possible to use an artificial neural networks in predicting the stability index (RI) with a good degree of accuracy. Where ANN 2 model could be used to predict RI for the effluents from Al-Karakh, Al-Qadisiya and Al-Karama WTPs as the highest correlation coefficient were obtained 92.4, 82.9 and 79.1% respe
