Application of Source Parameter Imaging (SPI) Technique to Gravity and Magnetic Data to Estimate the Basement Depth in Diyala Area, Eastern Central Iraq
...Show More Authors

The Bouguer gravity and magnetic RTP data were used to detect the depth of basement rocks in middle and south Diyala Province, east Iraq. The depth of the basement rocks was calculated by using the Source Parameter Imaging (SPI) method. New attempt is achieved to applied the SPI technique to the gravity values to estimate the depth of basement rocks. The depths of basement map derived from gravity data range 8-14 km, the depth of basement map derived from magnetic data range 9-13.5 km and the basement depth prepared by C.G.G, 1974 range 9-11 km. The derived maps from SPI method and that prepared by C.G.G, 1974 show good matching in the distribution of the depths of the study area. This study showed that basement’s depth range from

Petrophysical properties and Reservoir modeling of Mishrif Formation at Tuba Field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Petrophysical properties of Mishrif Formation at the Tuba field determined from interpretation of open log data of(Tu-2,3,4,5,6,12,24,and 25) wells. These properties include total (effected) and secondary porosity, as well as moveable and residual oil saturation into invaded and uninvaded zones. According to Petrophysical properties it is possible to divided Mishrif Formation into three reservoir units (RU1,2,and 3) separated by four cap rocks (Bar1,2,3,and 4) . Three-dimension reservoir model is established by used (Petrel, 2009) Software for each reservoir units. Result shows that the second and third reservoir units represent important reservoir units of Mishrif Formation. Thickness and reservoir properties enhanced toward middle and

The Formation Models of Gypsum Barrier, Chemical Temporal Changes and Assessments the Water Quality of Sawa Lake, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study deals with formation models of gypsum barrier, chemical temporal changes, and assessments of the Sawa Lake within the Al- Muthanna province, Southern Iraq, it is a very important issue to find the water quality and water assessments of this lake. Eleven water samples are collected from Sawa Lake. Many scientific concepts are used such as major cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+ and K+), major anions (SO4=,Cl-,HCO3- and CO3=) with minor anions ( PO43-, NO3-) and H2S . Trace elements (Pb, Cd, Zn, As, Ni, Co, Cu, Mn, Fe, As, Sr And B) and bacterial test were analyzed in each sample. Total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), pH and temperature (T) were directly measured in the field. The equilibrium state between the conce

MICROFACIE STUDY OF SUBSURFACE SECTION OF BEKHME FORMATION (NORTH IRAQ)
...Show More Authors

Bekhme formation, Dernir Dagh well -1 has been divided into two facies units using core
sample slides and depending on sedimentary structures and diagenetic processes .The facies
reflect the environment of the foreslope. This work proves the absence of Bekhme formation
in Dernir Dagh
Well- 1 as a tongue as reported by the Oil Exploration Company. Some species and genera of
bentonic foraminifera were identified. The age of Bekhme formation was estimated
depending on the recognized index fossils to be lower Maastrichtian.

Gastropods of Aptian- Cenomanian of Qamchuqa Formation from Northern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Gastropod species belonging to Qamchuqa Formation (Aptian-Cenomanian) in the North of Iraq are studied. These species  are Harpagodes nodosus (J.de C. Sowerby,1823),  Ampullina sp.1 (Hannaa and Furisch, 2011), Ampullina sp.2 (Hannaa and Furisch, 2011), Tylostoma pallaryi (Peron and Fourtau, 1904), Calliomphalus orientalis (Douville,1916), and Pyrgulifera (Meek, 1871). They are recorded in the Upper Cretaceous succession of Northern Iraq for the first time. Most of these species are internal moulds and not abundant at any stratigraphic level but irregularly scattered in the formation.

The Roughness Coefficient in Euphrates River Reach between Haditha Dam to Ramadi Barrage
...Show More Authors

Accurate computation of the roughness coefficient is important in the studies of open channel flow. To measure and identify the hydraulic characteristics of the flow system, the model simulation is necessary to study and get the results of the hydraulic properties to specify Manning coefficient of the Euphrates River. In this study, the reach is extended along the Euphrates River from Haditha Dam to Ramadi Barrage with a distance of 169km. The HEC-RAS model was implemented to simulate the flow within the study reach. The geometry of the river was represented by more than two hundred cross-sections surveyed in 2013 and 2021. The model was calibrated using some observed discharges at the Heet gage station for records of th

Estimation and Distribution of Some Heavy Metals in Urban Soils at Kufa, Najaf Governorate: An Environmental Geochemistry Research
...Show More Authors

Kufa, considered one of the important cities in Iraq, is facing a rapid increase in population proportion and urban development in buildings and industry. Therefore, the concentration of several hazardous heavy metals is the main focus of this study. It presents the distribution and Estimation of heavy metals in urban lands in the Kufa area as an environmental geochemical study. Twenty samples of urban surface soils were collected in many sites to determine concentrations, distribution, and contamination of elements Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, Th, U, Pb, Hf, Nb, and Fe. The mean concentrations of heavy metals were compared with the local studies, UCC guidelines, and the world reference. To distinguish ant

Biostratigraphy of Hartha Formation from Selected Wells in Nasiriyah Oil Field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

The Hartha Formation has been investigated from a biostratigraphic view in three subsurface sections in the Nasiriyah Oil field, wells Ns1, Ns3, and Ns4, South of Iraq. Hartha Formation is composed of limestone and has various areas of intense dolomitization alternating with marly limestone. The formation ranges in thickness from 126 to 182 meters. Thirteen large and small benthic foraminifer species and genera are identified from Hartha Formation. Based on the large benthic foraminifer's assemblage, one distinct biozone was recognized after an examination of the paleontological datum in the investigated area showed that the studied wells contained a diversity of foraminiferal species, the larger foraminifers biozone was propose

Seismic Structural Interpretation Study of Mishrif Formation in Nasiriyah Oil Field Southwestern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Seismic data interpretation study has been done for Mishrif Formation in Nasiriyah oil field at the southern part of Iraq in order to update the structural image of Mishrif reservoir which is currently the main unit bearing the oil in subsurface area covered about (447) km2. This study is achieved by using Petrel, IP, and other approval software. Seismic to well tie method in conventional qualitative interpretation used to re-identify the top and bottom of the Mishrif reservoir which converted into structural depth maps and then followed by constructing and developing 3-D structural model helped to understand the vertical and lateral thickness extensions heterogeneity of Mishrif Formation in the field. The cap rock (CRI) has thickness ra
