16S rRNA gene detection of Hafnia alvei isolated from infected rabbits
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p> This research investigates Hafnia alvei infection in rabbits exhibiting respiratory distress and sudden death in Baghdad, Iraq. Seventy-five lung samples were collected, with a 66.6% isolation rate for H. alvei . Identification was performed using the VITEK 2 compact system and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, which showed 100% homology with a reference strain (Z83203). Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed multidrug resistance to various ß-lactams. Histopathological examination demonstrated multiorgan damage, including enteritis, hepatitis, interstitial pneumonia, nephropathy, and splenic lymphoid depletion. These findings confirm the pathogenicity of H. alvei in rabbits and highlight its zoonotic potential. Molecular approaches significantly improved detection specificity, underscoring the importance of integrating advanced diagnostics in veterinary microbiology for accurate identification and effective disease management. </p>

Investigation of Flagellum genes FleN and FlgE and Gene Expression of FleN Gene in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Clinical Isolates
...Show More Authors

The opportunistic multidrug resistance pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa has one or several flagella, and the numbers of these sophisticated machines are regulated by the flagellar regulator gene FleN. The flagellar hook gene FlgE is important for its synthesis, motility and tolerance to antibiotics. Bacteriahave resistance to antibiotics, especially to cephalosporin beta-lactam antibiotics. For the current study, 102 clinical specimens were collected and identified using routine laboratory tests and confirmed by Vitek-2 compact system.  A total of 33 isolates of P. aeruginosa were identified. The antibiotic susceptibility test was done by the Vitek 2 Compact system. Flagellar gene detected by conventional PCR revealed that the FleN

In vitro Investigation the Antifungal and 940 nm Diode Laser Effects on Inhibition of Candida Albicans Isolated from Oral Cavity
...Show More Authors

Background: Candida albicans is a prevalent commensal that can cause severe health problems in humans. One such condition that frequently returns after treatment is oral candidiasis. Aim: the goal of this research is to evaluate the efficiency of 940 nm as a fungicidal on the growth of Candida albicans in vitro. Material and Methods: In vitro samples (fungal swabs) were taken from the oral cavity of 75 patients suffering from oral thrush. Following the process of isolating and identifying Albicans. The samples are divided into four groups:(Group 1): Suspension of C. albicans was put in a solution of saline as a control group. (Group 2): Suspension of C. albicans that had been treated with nystatin. (Group 3): Suspension of C. albica

THE GENETIC DIAGNOSIS OF THE BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM THE AGRICULTURAL SOIL SUSTAINED FARMS BY THE POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION TECHNIQUE QPCR
...Show More Authors

The measurements and tests of the samples conducted in the laboratories of the College of Agriculture included isolating bio-fertilizers and testing the efficiency of isolates that fix atmospheric nitrogen and solubilize phosphorous compounds. Bacteria were isolated and identified from the rhizosphere soils of different plants collected from various agricultural areas. A total of 74 bacterial isolates were obtained based on the phenotypic characteristics of the developing colonies, as well as biochemical and microscopic traits. The results of isolation and identification showed that among the 74 bacterial isolates, there were 15 isolates of A. chroococcum, 13 of Az. lipoferum, 13 of B. megaterium, 10 of P. putida, 10 of Actinomycetes, and n

Prevalence And Antimicrobial Susceptibility Patterns Of Bacteria Isolated From Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) In Children At Children Hospital In Baghdad
...Show More Authors

Background: First six to twelve months after initial urinary tract infection, most infections are caused by Escherichiacoli, although in the first year of life Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas, Enterobacter spp andEnterococcus spp, are more frequent than later in life, and there is a higher risk of urosepsis compared with adulthood

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of bacterial isolates from Urinary Tract Infections of children at a children hospital in Baghdad and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns.

Type of the study: Cross-sectional study.

Methods: During six months of study (1 June to 31 Dece

Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profiles of Salmonella spp. Isolated from Chicken Flocks and their Feed and Water in Karbala, Iraq
...Show More Authors

The objective of study was determining the most prevalent Salmonella spp. and their antimicrobial susceptibility in broilers and laying chickens and their feed and drinking water in five chicken farms in Karbala, Iraq over the period from August to October 2020. A total of 289 samples, including 217 cloaca swabs, 46 water and 26 feed samples were collected. Salmonella spp. was identified firstly by routine diagnostic methods, followed by applying the API 20E kit, the Vitek2 system, and serology. There was significant differences in Salmonella prevalence among different types of samples, mainly cloaca swabs reported a high isolation rate (21.7%). In contrast, feed samples were completely free of contamination. The highest rate of isolation w

Generation of new clones of multidrug resistant infectious foci of environmental, zoonotic and reverse zoonotic Enterococcus faecalis & faecium strains from cases of mastitis in cows privileged in Baghdad ecosystem reveal unsafe tricks. Medically important plants Blackcurrant, London Plane and Pine Buds are widely used for resolving these public health threats and hazards as powerful antimicrobial preparations. Totally sixty pooled milk samples were collected from apparently healthy (30 units) and infected (30 units) Cows from different regions of Abu-Ghraib during March until July (2019). Integrated units were checked by California mastitis test and a designed scheme was dependent for recovery of pathogenic Enterococci. Gram staining and c

Many therapeutic methods used to encourage reparative processes of cartilage and accelerate their healing such as drugs, magneto-laser and so on. Twenty four adult New Zealand rabbits used in this study. They were divided in to two groups; control and treaded with He –Ne laser. A square skin flap done on the medial aspect of both auricles followed by pealing a square piece of cartilage from the auricle then the flaps sutured .The site of the operation in the rabbits of the treated group were irradiated with He –Ne laser 5mw power for seven days began after the operation directly. 3 rabbits from each group used for collection of specimens for histopathological examination at the 1, 2, 4 & 6 weeks post the operation. Evaluation of Interleukin-18 Serum Concentration and Gene Polymorphism (Rs1946518) in A Sample of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients from Iraq.
...Show More Authors

Background Type two diabetes (T2DM) is characterized by insufficient insulin production and secretion. Additionally, the body develops insulin resistance which affects 90–95% of diabetics. Complex cytokines, receptors, genetic pathways, and the immune system are involved in T2DM. Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is one of the inflammatory cytokines associated with Type 2 diabetes. Environmental and genetic variables, including genetic polymorphisms, can increase T2DM risk and its consequences. Single nucleotide gene polymorphisms (SNPs) are important risk factors for diabetes that can be used to find the disease early and treat it better. Objective This study aimed to determine the levels of IL-18 in the serum of Iraqi patients with Type 2 diabetes
