Serodiffusion of Helicobacter Pylori and HAV in Patients Attending Two Centers in Baghdad

Background: Helicobacters are motile curved, oxidase and catalase positive,
gram negative rods similar in morphology to vibrios. The cells have polar flagella
and are often attached at their ends given pairs "S" shapes or seagull

Object i ves: The present study was undertaken to estimate the serodiffusion of
H. pylori and hepatitis A virus (HAV) in 300 patients attending two centers in
Baghdad.

Corrosion Study of the Injection Equipments in Water in Al-Ahdeb Wells ‐Iraq

Water injection equipments such as pipelines, which are used in the second recovery of oil in the Al-Ahdeb wells, suffer from the corrosion in water during maintaining vacuum deoxygenated tower that used to decrease concentration of the dissolved oxygen gas in the water from 6.2-9.1 ppm to o.5 ppm. Validation of Kala-azar diagnostic tests in a pediatric teaching hospital in Baghdad.

Background: Kala-azar is an important parasitic disease that affects children of all age groups with fatal outcome if left without treatment.

Objectives: Children admitted with Kala-azar were studied for evaluation of Indirect Immunoflorescent Antibody Test and Bone Marrow examination validity.

Results: The majority (94%) of studied children were less than 5 years age group. Males were more than females with a ratio of 1.63:1. Sixty percent of patients were from Diyala governorate and 23% from Baghdad. The main clinical features were prolonged fever and hepatosplenomegaly (100%).
