Responding Wheat and Weeds for Seeding Rates and Herbicide as Well Its Effect on Yield and Yield Components
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A field experiment was carried out during the seasons 2016 and 2017 in the farm of the Department of Field Crops Science, College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences-University of Baghdad to evaluate the effect of(Aminopyralid + Flurasulam, Coldinafop-propargyl and Flucarbazone-sodium) herbicides and seeding rate (100, 125 and 150) Kg.ha-1 and the interaction between them in growth characteristics, grain and yield components in wheat (Var. IPA99). The results showed that herbicides used were significantly efficient in studied characteristics compared to weedy treatment. Herbicide Flucarbazone-sodium gave higher weed control after 60 and 90 days of spraying the herbicides about 85.29%, 87.54% and 89.91%, 90.53% for both seasons, respectively compared to weedy treatment. While Aminopyralid-Florasulam gave weed control 67.81%, 72.98%, 71.79%, 68.50% for two seasons, respectively. Two herbicides led to reduction of weed dry weight by 90.00 %, 76.56% in the first season and 90.72 %, 80.33% in the second season. This reflected in a significant impact on grain and yield components of wheat. The interaction between Flucarbazone-sodium herbicide and the seed rate125 kgha-1 led to reduce plant height by 15.74% and 20.39% in both seasons, respectively, but it led to increase the number of tillers by57.82 %, 49.65%, flag leaf 50.58 %, 37.91%, number of spikes per m2 44.47%, 44.69%, number of grains in spike 39.23%, 42.24% and grain yield 64.00%, 61.99% in both seasons, respectively. While the interaction between Aminopyraid-flurasulam and 150 kg. ha-1 seed rate cause to increase1000 grain weight amounted to 22.74% and 18.26% compared to weedy treatment of seed rate125 kg.ha-1 in both seasons, respectively</p>

A field experiment was carried out in Horticulture Department / Collage of Agricultur e/University of Baghdad to study influence of adding ascorbic acid(asa) and bread yeast extract in snap bean cv.primel under irrigation with saline water using sodium chloride salt (NaCl) during spr ing season of 2016 .A factorial experiment using Randomized Complete Block Design( RCBD) with three replications wereconducted . The first factor includes three treatments of salinity which were tap water ( S0), 4ds.m-1(S1) and 8ds.m-1 (S2) . The second factor includes three treatments which were control treatment without any adding (C) ,ascorbic acid 0.3g.l-1( A ) and yeast extract 12g.l -1( Y ). Results showed significant and gradually decreases in all studie

Estimating genetic parameters of maize hybrids and parents under different plant densities (Combining ability for yield and some other traits for maize Zea mays L.)
...Show More Authors

A field experiment was carried out in the fields of the Field Crops Department - Faculty of Agricultural Engineering Sciences. The study included five inbred lines (ZM43W (ZE), ZM60, ZM49W3E, ZM19, CDCN5), given numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) to study the hybrid vigor and both general and special combing ability (GCA, SCA) of the half diallel mating method, for the spring and fall seasons (2016). The genetic analysis shows that all crosses gave a positive hybrid vigor for grain yield per unit area at the two population densities. the highest value is 116.20% for cross (3´5 )at low density, and 89.22% for cross( 1´4 )at high density. The hybrid vigor for all crosses is positive at two densities for dry matter yield, crop growth rate an

Pot experiment was carried out at the College of Agriculture – Baghdad University during autumn season, 2007. Thirteen treatments were formulated to evaluate the effectiveness of four applications of Phosphorus (0, 60, 60×2 and 120 Kg P. h-1) and three applications of Zinc (0, 25×2 mg Zn. L-1 and 50 mg Zn. Kg soil-1) along with inoculating seeds of bean with strains mixture 889 and 1865 and non-inoculated treatment, on nodulation, yield and protein content in seeds (N%). The results showed that inoculated plants exceeded on non-inoculated one in all the studied characteristics. While, P and Zn, applications at the rate of 60×2 kg/ha and 25×2 mg/L respectively, significantly, increased, nodulation, yield, protein content in se

Studying some of the optimal conditionals for the best bacterial isolates from soil and its effects on their growth rates
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The current study aimed to use some bacterial isolates from the local soil of Baghdad city by study the effects of temperature, pH and incubation period on the growth rates of isolated bacteria and choose the optimal conditions for their diversity and for understanding bacterial growth and their requirements for survival and proliferation. This information can be applied to obtain their high growth rate for use in various fields such as agriculture, medicine and environmental sciences in the future. And it used to assess the degree of variation in across bacteria species in pH, temperature and incubation period. A number of local bacterial isolates as Enterobacter cloacae</p> ... Show More

In-season potato yield prediction with active optical sensors
...Show More Authors

Crop yield prediction is a critical measurement, especially in the time when parts of the world are suffering from farming issues. Yield forecasting gives an alert regarding economic trading, food production monitoring, and global food security. This research was conducted to investigate whether active optical sensors could be utilized for potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) yield prediction at the mid.le of the growing season. Three potato cultivars (Russet Burbank, Superior, and Shepody) were planted and six rates of N (0, 56, 112, 168, 224, and 280 kg ha−1), ammonium sulfate, which was replaced by ammonium nitrate in the 2nd year, were applied on 11 sites in a randomized complete block design, with four replications. Normalized difference ve
