The promising anticancer efficacy of parsley seeds flavonoid (apigenin) in induced mammary adenocarcinoma (AMN3) mice
...Show More Authors

Extraction and identification of parsley (Petroselinum sativum) seeds flavonoids (apigenin), as well as evaluation its anticancer efficacy was the main aim of the current study. Thin layer chromatography results clarified that apigenin is the major flavonoid in parsley seeds. The cytotoxic effect of apigenin in mammary adenocarcinoma (AMN3) bearing mice was manifested through significant (P ≤ 0.01) reduction in tumor volume and growth rate inhibition (90.8 %) after 24 days of oral administration at a dose of 300 mg/kg body weight. The volume of tumor in the treated group reached 1354.8 mm³ while the recorded size of the control was 14758 mm³. Transplanted cancer mice showed a significant (P ≤ 0.01) elevation in concentration of liver, heart, kidney and tumor mass tissue homogenate malondialdehyde as well as a significant depression in glutathione concentration. Apigenin intubation caused a significant correction of the previous parameters manifested by a significant elevation and depression in glutathione and malondialdehyde concentration respectively. Agarose gel electrophoresis of blood serum of AMN3 transplanted mice, showed an increment in globulin concentrations coincide with albumin concentration decrement, while apigenin administration normalized to a great extent serum protein concentrations. Histopathological sections of liver, kidney, spleen as well as tumor mass showed the significant role of apigenin in immune system stimulation manifested by elevation of globulins, lymphocytes and macrophages and replacement of cancer tissues by connective tissues.

Evaluating the effects of different doses of fimasartan on methotrexate-induced renal inflammation in rats
...Show More Authors

The nephrotoxicity induced by methotrexate is a severe condition that greatly affects its therapeutic potential and has a significant inflammatory component. Fimasartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker that offers organ-protective effects and may be useful in mitigating renal injury. The present study explored the anti-inflammatory potential of two doses of fimasartan against methotrexate-mediated nephrotoxicity. Albino rats were intraperitoneally administered a single methotrexate (20 mg/kg). Intraperitoneal treatment with fimasartan (5 or 10 mg/kg/day) was initiated on day two after methotrexate injection and continued for seven consecutive days. Methotrexate significantly increased serum urea, creatinine, and NGAL concentrations. It al

Evaluation of the anti-inflammatory effect of chromium picolinate in methotrexate induced nephrotoxicity rat model
...Show More Authors

Methotrexate is a folate antimetabolite chemical used to treat many forms of cancer and cleared mainly by kidney which result in a nephrotoxicity as a major complication of methotrexate. Trivalent chromium complex, chromium picolinate (CrPic), is mostly utilized to regulate glucose and raise insulin sensitivity—particularly in diabetes. The objective of this study was to assess the renoprotective effects of Chromium in mitigating nephrotoxicity induced by Methotrexate in rats. Study conducted on 32 male rats divided into 4 groups; Group I (Control group) in which rats received distilled water orally for 8 days, Group II (Induction group) which received a single intraperitoneal injection of Methotrexate (20 mg/kg) on

EFFECT OF THE SUPPLEMENTATION OF THE LAYING QUAILS RATION WITHSESAME (SESAMUM INDICUM) SEEDS AND OIL ON EGG QUALITY TRAITS
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of feeding diets containing different levels of sesame seeds and oil on the egg quality of laying quail. A total of 120, 10 weeks old, were randomly assigned to 1 of 5 dietary groups and fed for 12 weeks diets containing 0% sesame seeds + 0% sesame oil (control group; C) or 0.5% sesame oil (T1), 1% sesame oil (T2), 1% sesame seeds (T3), and 2% sesame seeds (T4).The study was terminated when the birds were 22 weeks of age. Egg quality characteristics involved in the present study were egg weight, yolk diameter, yolk height, yolk weight, albumen height, albumen weight,Haugh unit, shell weight, shell thickness, shell percentage, yolk percentage, and albumen percentage. This study included the isolation and diagnosis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from cases of burns samples. 100 samples were collected from resident patients at Al-Kindi Teaching Hospital, who suffer from different types of burns. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated and diagnosed with 39% of the total samples. The cold and hot aqueous and alcoholic extract of flaxseeds oil was prepared and its inhibitory efficacy has been studied on the growth of isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is revealed that both extracts of flaxseeds oil had a high inhibitory effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa growth. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of flaxseed oil on the studied bacteria was also estimated, which was 25 mg/ml. In conclusion, the efficacy of fla

The effect of hot water and ethanol extract of Nigella sativa in immune system of Albino Mice
...Show More Authors

The result showed that hot water and ethanol extracts of Nigella sativa contain alkaloids ,saponins, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, terpins and steroids. Albino mice were administered orally with 0.1 of the extract at dose of 100 mg/kg, body weight the results showed high level of white blood cell ,total and differential count of WBC,phagocytosis index, mitotic index, Arthus and delayed type hypersensitivity. The result, also showed high level of hemoglobin (Hb) and the packed cell volume (PCV) the alcoholic extract has been found more efficient than hot water extract on mice.

EFFECT OF HONEY ON SPERM CHARACTERISTICS AND PREGNANCY RATE IN MICE
...Show More Authors

The aim of the current study is to demonstrate the effect of honey on the sperms characteristics (sperm concentration, sperm motility, grade of activity and sperm normal morphology) as well as pregnancy rate in mice. Sperms were obtained from caudal epididymis of male mice and prepared by adding10% of honey to the IVF medium using direct sperms activation technique for 30 minute incubation period before artificial insemination.

The study revealed a significant (P > 0.05) increase in active sperm motility (grade A and grade B) 49% and pregnancy rate 53.3% in female mice artificially inseminated with sperms. On the other hand, there were no significant differences in sperm con
