Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary ailment that can cause severe pain and suffering to people who are affected. However, with continued investment in research and treatment options, we can make progress towards improving the lives of those with SCD. Over 40% of patients experience painful vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs), so we must work towards finding solutions and providing support for those living with this condition, These episodes, a hallmark of SCD, significantly contribute to morbidity, mortality, and a diminished quality of life, while also incurring substantial healthcare costs. Chronic pain particularly affects older adolescents and adults with SCD, with over half reporting daily discomfort. Opioid-based analgesics, though still the main form of pain management, have limitations. Their effectiveness is limited, and they come with risks of adverse effects and addiction. Therefore, exploring alternative, for pain management strategies is crucial. This review dives into the potential of pharmacological supplements for this purpose. Deficiency in vitamin D is linked to increased complications in SCD. While evidence suggests vitamin D supplementation might help manage pain in SCD patients, more clinical trials are needed to confirm this benefit and determine the most effective dosage. L-arginine supplementation shows promise in reducing pain and hospital stays, while inhaled nitric oxide has yielded mixed results. Zinc deficiency is common in SCD, and supplementation may decrease infections, improve immunity, and reduce pain crises. Because of their anti-inflammatory qualities, omega-3 fatty acids may lessen the frequency of pain and inflammatory markers. Overall, the evidence for most supplements remains inconclusive, highlighting the need for further clinical research for promising supplements of vitamin D and omega-3, to establish definitive conclusions regarding their efficacy and safety in SCD patients. Exploring combination therapies and tailoring interventions to individual needs may hold promise for comprehensive pain management strategies.
Background: The highest concentrations of
blood glucose during the day are usually found
postprandialy. Postprandial hyperglycemia (PPH)
is likely to promote or aggravate fasting
hyperglycemia. Evidence in recent years suggests
that PPH may play an important role in functional
& structural disturbances in different body organs
particularly the cardiovascular system.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of (PPH) as a
risk factor for coronary Heart disease in Type 2
diabetic patients.
Methods: Sixty-three type2 diabetic patients
were included in this study. All have controlled
fasting blood glucose, with HbA1c correlation.
They were all followed for five months period
(from May to October 2008)
This theoretical research explores the fundamental differences between human literary writing and artificial intelligence–generated texts by examining how language, style, and narrative structure function in each form of authorship. Using Toni Morrison’s Beloved (1987) as the primary literary example, the study analyzes how human writing draws on lived experience, cultural memory, emotional depth, and intentional creativity. In contrast, AI-generated texts rely on statistical patterns rather than consciousness or authentic meaning-making, resulting in writing that may be linguistically coherent but lacks symbolic richness and emotional resonance. Through a descriptive and analytical methodology, supported by insights from Narr

Therefore, two main hypotheses were put forward. The research was applied to a sample consisting of (87) managers and deputy managers, some of them are members on the board of directors of the researched company. The questionnaire was adopted as a basic tool for collecting data, in addition to personal interviews. A number of statistical methods were used to analyze the data and obtain results. The researcher showed a set of results, including: There is a significant correlation between wise leadership and business model. There is an influence of wise leadership on

The etiology of MS is not fully elucidated. MS symptoms are directly related to demyelination and axonal loss, along with other psychological symptoms, can result in functional limitations, disability and reduced quality of life (QoL). The QoL assessments in patients with a chronic disease may contribute to improving treatment and could even be of prognostic value. The goals of this study were to compare the QoL of Iraqi patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS),using three different diseas

Today, tamoxifen (TAM) is considered as the highly effective therapy for treatment of breast tumors. Oxidative stress has implicated strongly in the pathophysiology of malignancies. This study aimed to investigate the changes in the levels of oxidants and antioxidants in patients with newly diagnosed and TAM-treated BC. Sixty newly diagnosed and 60 TAM-treated women with BC and 50 healthy volunteers were included in this study. Parameters including total oxidant capacity (TOC), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and catalase (CAT) activity were determined before and after treatment with TAM. The serum levels of TOC and oxidative stress index (OSI) were
