The calibration of a low-speed wind tunnel (LSWT) test section had been made in the present work. The tunnel was designed and constructed at the Aerodynamics Lab. in the Mechanical Engineering Department/University of Baghdad. The test section design speed is 70 m/s. Frictional loses and uniformity of the flow inside the test section had been tested and calibrated based on the British standards for flow inside ducts and conduits. Pitot-static tube, boundary layer Pitot tube were the main instruments which were used in the present work to measure the flow characteristics with emphasize on the velocity uniformity and boundary layer growth along the walls of the test section. It is found that the maximum calibrated velocity for empty test section is 55 m/s. Three speeds are tested for uniformity and walls boundary layer at inlet and mid-section of test section. The results show that the flows are uniform at inlet and mid-section with turbulent flow from inlet to outlet.
The study aims to identify the metamemory and perceptual speed among College students, the correlation between metamemory and perceptual speed among College students, and to which extend does metamemory contribute to perceptual speed among College students. Show MoreModel birefringence was measured for elliptical-core fibers with low ellipticities, note the birefringence depends strongly on the frequency, especially when fiber is being operated near the higher mode cutoff where ν for circular fiber of the single-mode type that correspond to the birefringence maximum. When ν this also correspond to the birefringence maximum that can be introduced in an elliptical core fiber while still operating in the single-mode regime near the higher mode cutoff. Also the birefringence is proportional to the fiber core ellipticity when core ellipticity is much less than unity, but this birefringence deviates from the linear for the large core ellipticities.

Show MoreThe corrosion behavior of low carbon steel in washing water of crude oil solution has been studied potentiostatically at five temperatures in the range (30–70)°C .The corrosion potential shifted to more negative values with increasing temperature and the corrosion current density increased with increasing temperature. Folic acid had on inhibiting effect on the corrosion of low carbon steel in washing water at a concentration (5× 10-4-- 5× 10-3 ) mol/dm3 over the temperature range (30–70)°C.
