Power systems are generally required to operate near their maximum capacity. Thus, there is an increased focus on improving real power system capacities through the installation of novel devices, including the Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTs). This paper discusses the optimal incorporation of thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) in the 400 kV Baghdad grid of the Iraqi network as a suggested method to control the power transfer of a transmission line (TL) and suppress Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR). The MATLAB 2019 simulation is executed utilizing the phase angle as an index to select an appropriate TCSC location. Nine places were chosen based on eigenvalues, and three suitable places were determined, where 0.5< Xc/Xl <2. The Baghdad city 400 kV is examined by applying PSS/E 34 software with the series TCSC connected at each of the three selected locations, thus three distinct cases are studied. The results reveal that the TCSC connection between 16428 4BGE and 16419 4BGS, where the value of (Xc/Xl) =1.46, was the optimal place where the series TCSC connection is conducted. From the results, it can be concluded that the least Xc/Xl value indicates the better the control of frequency and voltage, as well as the power losses in TLs reduction are higher.
The permeability estimates for the uncored wells and a porosity function adopting a modified flow zone index-permeability crossplot are given in this work. The issues with implementing that approach were mostly crossplots, due to the influence of geological heterogeneity, did not show a clear connection (scatter data). Carbonate reservoir flow units may now be identified and characterized using a new approach, which has been formally confirmed. Due to the comparable distribution and flow of clastic and carbonate rock fluids, this zoning method is most effective for reservoirs with significant primary and secondary porosity. The equations and correlations here are more generalizable since they connect these variables by combining cor

Show MoreThis research paper studies the alienation of the intellectuals in the modern novel through the study of two alienated characters, John Marcher in Henry James's The Beast in the Jungle, and Mr. Duffy in James's Joyce's "A Painful Case." As a result of the complexity of life in the industrial societies, the individuals, especially the intellectual ones, feel themselves unable to integrate into social life; they fear society and feel that it endangers their individuality and independence. Thus, these characters live on the fringe of the societ

Sampling collection stations have been selected at each of AL-Gheraiˈat and AL-Adhamiyah area adjacent to the river. Monthly intervals sampling with three samples were collected from each station from June to September 2020. Total of 23 sarcodina taxa were listed, out of them 5 taxa were new record to the Tigris River in Baghdad: Difflugia urceolata Carter, 1864 (Arcellinida, Difflugiidae), Heleopera perapetricola Leidy, 1879 (Arcellinida, Heleoperidae), Rhaphidiophrys pallida F.E. Some methods have been proposed for stability evaluation, but the hazard warning levels (HWLs) are more applicable among these methods. Despite monitoring and applying HWLs, several collapses in Shibli twin tunnels in Iran have cast doubts on the accuracy of this criterion in the presence of water. In this study, the critical strains under different water contents were measured through uniaxial compressive strength tests on 11 different shale and marl samples. A comparison of laboratory tests and numerical results shows that the influence of the moisture content on the critical strain is negligible. In addition, the results show that there is no dir

In this research, the computational work methodology was followed by building a numerical model using Geo-Studio program to check the efficiency of using concrete sheet piles as a cut-off or reducer for seepage with time if the sheet piles facing the drawdown technique. Al-Kifil regulator was chosen as a case study, an accurate model was built with a help of observed reading of the measuring devices, which was satisfactory and helped in checking the sheet piles efficiency. Through the study, three scenarios were adopted (with and without) drawdown technique, it was found that at the short time there's no effect of the drawdown technique on
