The assessment of pathological changes in cerebral blood flow in hypertensive rats with stress-induced intracranial hemorrhage using Doppler OCT: Particularities of arterial and venous alterations/Die Beurteilung von pathologischen Veränderungen der Hirndurchblutung bei hypertensiven Ratten mit Stress-induzierten intrakraniellen Blutungen mittels Doppler-OCT: Besonderheiten von arteriellen und venösen Veränderungen
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Hemorrhagic insult is a major source of morbidity and mortality in both adults and newborn babies in the developed countries. The mechanisms underlying the non-traumatic rupture of cerebral vessels are not fully clear, but there is strong evidence that stress, which is associated with an increase in arterial blood pressure, plays a crucial role in the development of acute intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), and alterations in cerebral blood flow (CBF) may contribute to the pathogenesis of ICH. The problem is that there are no effective diagnostic methods that allow for a prognosis of risk to be made for the development of ICH. Therefore, quantitative assessment of CBF may significantly advance the understanding of the nature of ICH. The aim of this study was to determine the particularities of alterations in arterial and venous cerebral circulation in hypertensive rats at different stages of stress-related development of ICH using three-dimensional Doppler optical coherence tomography (DOCT).</p><p>Experiments were performed in mongrel adult rats. To induce ICH, hypertensive rats underwent stress (effect of severe sound, 120 dB during 2 h). To induce the renal hypertension (two kidneys, one clip) the rats were clipped at the left renal artery with a silver clip. Seven weeks after clipping, the hypertensive rats were used in the experiment. The monitoring of CBF was performed in anesthetized rats with fixed heads using a commercially available swept source OCT system (OCS1300SS; Thorlabs) in the masked period of ICH (4 h after stress) and during ICH (24 h after stress).</p><p>It could be shown that in stressed rats, compared with non-stressed animals, the latent stage of stress-induced ICH (4 h after stress-off) is characterized by an increase in diameter of the superior sagittal vein with decrease in speed of the blood flow in the venous network, whereas no changes in the CBF in the arterial tree were found in this period. These facts suggest that the masked period of ICH is accompanied by decreasing venous outflow and the development of venous insufficiency. The incidence of ICH, 24 h after stress, is associated with progression of pathological alterations in cerebral venous circulation. All hypertensive rats with ICH demonstrated a greater increase in the diameter of the superior sagittal vein than stressed rats at the latent stage of ICH (in 2.5-fold,</p><p>In summary, using DOCT we have shown that the latent stage of stress-induced ICH is characterized by a decrease in venous outflow. The incidence of ICH is associated with the progression of pathological alterations in cerebral venous circulation that is accompanied by a decrease in blood flow in the arterial tree. The evaluation of cerebral venous insufficiency is an important diagnostic approach for the prognosis of the risk of developing cerebral hypotension and ICH.</p>

Exact solutions for MHD flow of a viscoelastic fluid with the fractional Burgers’ model in an annular pipe
...Show More Authors

This paper presents an analytical study for the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of a generalized Burgers’ fluid in an annular pipe. Closed from solutions for velocity is obtained by using finite Hankel transform and discrete Laplace transform of the sequential fractional derivatives. Finally, the figures are plotted to show the effects of different parameters on the velocity profile.

Experimental and modeling study of water defluoridation using waste granular brick in a continuous up-flow fixed bed
...Show More Authors

Contamination of surface and groundwater with excessive concentrations of fluoride is of significant health hazard. Adsorption of fluoride onto waste materials of no economic value could be a potential approach for the treatment of fluoride-bearing water. This experimental and modeling study was devoted to investigate for the first the fluoride removal using unmodified waste granular brick (WGB) in a fixed bed running in continuous mode. Characterization of WGB was carried out by FT-IR, SEM, and EDX analysis. The batch mode experiments showed that they were affected by several parameters including contact time, initial pH, and sorbent dosage. The best values of these parameters that provided maximum removal percent (82%) with the in

The main idea that led me to write such research paper within the framework of Germanic linguistics is that I have not found any topic dealing with the term correlate in the German language, except in several articles in linguistic journals as well as one topic in a book describing the use of such a linguistic phenomenon in the language system. The research initially deals with the definition of the correlate at the level of the German language system. Correlate is unity describes specific relation of two sentences and identifies denoted constructs. Correlate is called a placeholder at the syntactic level because it does not occupy its original topological fields in the syntactic structure. The correlate (es) or the prepositiona

Assessment of uric acid in patients of end-stage renal disease with hypertension and diabetic nephropathy and the risk of cardiovascular diseases
...Show More Authors

The relationship of hyperuricemia to kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension and the risk of cardiovascular diseases remain controversial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of uric acid (UA) levels to find the higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with end stage renal disease that have diabetic nephropathy (DN), nephropathy with hypertension (NH) and patients with both diabetic nephropathy with hypertension (DNH). This study deals with 115 patients with end-stage renal disease under hemodialysis sub-grouped into 35 patients with (DN), 40 patients with (NH), and 40 patients with (DNH). Some biochemical parameters were determined in the serum of all participants such as HbA1c, fasting blood glucose (FBG), UA, urea,

Study the Effects of Anadrol Overdose on Liver Function in Male Rats
...Show More Authors

Anadrol (oxymetholone) is an active androgenic anabolic steroid that has been clinically studied in numerous diseases since the 1960s. It is used in the treatment of anemia and the replacement of male sex steroids. Unfortunately, in attempts to improve physical performance, Anadrol could be misused by athletes, that can lead to poisoning contributes to hepatotoxicity.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of anadrol on the liver function in rat model, via assessment of liver enzymes and histopathological study.

A forty male rats, weights about (200-300 gm), aged 8-12 weeks, after acclimatization, the rats were ‎randomly divided into four groups (10 rats in each group) as follow: control group (in w

Numerical Analysis of Laminar Natural Convection in Square Enclosure with and without Partitions and Study Effect of pPartition on the Flow Pattern and Heat Transfer
...Show More Authors

The problem of steady, laminar, natural convective flow in an square enclosure with and without partitions is considered for Rayleigh number (103-106) and Prandtl number (0.7). Vertical walls were maintained isothermal at different temperatures while horizontal walls and the partitions were insulated. The length of partition was taken constant. The number of partitions were placed on horizontal surface in staggered arrangement from (1– 3) and ratio of partition thickness (H/L= 0.033, 0.083, 0.124). The problem is formulated in terms of the vorticity-stream function procedure. A numerical solution based on a program in Fortran 90 with the finite difference method is obtained. Representative results illustrating the effects of the thickn
