Gumbel distribution was dealt with great care by researchers and statisticians. There are traditional methods to estimate two parameters of Gumbel distribution known as Maximum Likelihood, the Method of Moments and recently the method of re-sampling called (Jackknife). However, these methods suffer from some mathematical difficulties in solving them analytically. Accordingly, there are other non-traditional methods, like the principle of the nearest neighbors, used in computer science especially, artificial intelligence algorithms, including the genetic algorithm, the artificial neural network algorithm, and others that may to be classified as meta-heuristic methods. Moreover, this principle of nearest neighbors has useful statistical features. The objective of this paper is thus to propose a new algorithm where it allows getting the estimation of the parameters of Gumbel probability distribution directly. Furthermore, it overcomes the mathematical difficulties in this matter without need to the derivative of the likelihood function. Taking simulation approach under consideration as empirical experiments where a hybrid method performs optimization of these three traditional methods. In this regard, comparisons have been done between the new proposed method and each pair of the traditional methods mentioned above by efficiency criterion Root of Mean Squared Error (RMSE). As a result, (36) experiments of different combinations of initial values of two parameters (λ: shift parameter and θ: scale parameter) in three values that take four different sample sizes for each experiment. To conclude, the proposed algorithm showed its superiority in all simulation combinations associated with all sample sizes for the two parameters (λ and θ). In addition, the method of Moments was the best in estimating the shift parameter (λ) and the method of Maximum Likelihood was in estimating the scale parameter (θ).
Shatt Al-Hilla was considered one of the important branches of Euphrates River that supplies irrigation water to millions of dunams of planted areas. It is important to control the velocity and water level along the river to maintain the required level for easily diverting water to the branches located along the river. So, in this research, a numerical model was developed to simulate the gradually varied unsteady flow in Shatt AL-Hilla. The present study aims to solve the continuity and momentum (Saint-Venant) equations numerically to predict the hydraulic characteristics in the river using Galerkin finite element method. A computer program was designed and built using the programming language FORTRAN-77. Fifty kilometers was consid

It is one of the important matters that occupy the ideas of those concerned with linguistic studies, whether Arabic or otherwise. Recent years have witnessed the advancement of this methodological approach, and books and studies in Arabic have been written on important, multifaceted issues, of grammatical and linguistic origins, and their balance with new developments and ideas attracted mostly from Western studies.
The comparative approach - as they call it - is one of the modern approaches that is based on balancing a language with other sisters belonging to its family, to reach similarities and differences between them, and to know the c
The aim of this work is to evaluate the onc-electron expectation values < r > from the radial electronic density funetion D(r) for different wave ?'unctions for the 2s state of Li atom. The wave functions used were published in 1963,174? and 1993 , respectavily. Thin films of vanadium oxide nanoparticles doped with different concentrations of europium oxide (2, 4, 6, and 8) wt % are deposited on glass and Si substrates with orientation (111) utilizing by pulsed laser deposition technique using Nd:YAG laser that has a wavelength of 1064 nm, average frequency of 6 Hz and pulse duration of 10 ns. The films were annealed in air at 300 °C for two hours, then the structural, morphological and optical properties are characterized using x-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and UV-Vis spectroscopy respectively. The X-ray diffraction results of V2O5:Eu2O3 exhibit that the film has apolycrystalline monoclinic V2O5 and triclinic V4O7 phases. The FESEM image shows a h

Data mining techniques are used to discover the hidden knowledge, unexpected patterns, and new rules from the dataset, which implies a large number of attributes. Methods Data mining techniques manipulate the redundant or simply irrelevant attributes to discover interesting patterns. However, the dataset is processed via Weka (The Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) platform. The OneR technique is used as a machine learning classifier to evaluate the attribute worthy according to the class value. Results The evaluation is performed using
... Show MoreSliding Mode Controller (SMC) is a simple method and powerful technique to design a robust controller for nonlinear systems. It is an effective tool with acceptable performance. The major drawback is a classical Sliding Mode controller suffers from the chattering phenomenon which causes undesirable zigzag motion along the sliding surface. To overcome the snag of this classical approach, many methods were proposed and implemented. In this work, a Fuzzy controller was added to classical Sliding Mode controller in order to reduce the impact chattering problem. The new structure is called Sliding Mode Fuzzy controller (SMFC) which will also improve the properties and performance of the classical Sliding Mode control

The aim of the study is to illustrate the clinicopathological characteristics of PA with particular emphases on epithelial cell morphology and mesenchymal elements. Materials and Methods: A total of 132 PA collected between 2002 and 2017 were recruited from Al Shahid Ghazi Al Hariri Hospital and the Department of Oral Pathology, College of Dentistry, Baghdad University, Baghdad, Iraq, and analyzed for their demographic and histopathological features. All data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. A slightly higher incidence of PA was detected in females (52.3%) compared to male subject

However there are still some concerns about the security provided by the cloud environment are raises. Thus in this our research project, we are discussing over the cloud computing paradigm evolvement for the large business applications like CRM as well as introducing the new framework for the secure cloud computing using the method of IT auditing. In this case our approach is basically directed towards the establishment of the cloud computing framework for the CRM applications with the use of checklists by following the data flow of the CRM application and its lifecycle. Show MoreIn modern hydraulic control systems, the trend in hydraulic power applications is to improve efficiency and performance. “Proportional valve” is generally applied to pressure, flow and directional-control valves which continuously convert a variable input signal into a smooth and proportional hydraulic output signal. It creates a variable resistance (orifice) upstream and downstream of a hydraulic actuator, and is meter in/meter out circuit and hence pressure drop, and power losses are inevitable. If velocity (position) feedback is used, flow pattern control is possible. Without aforementioned flow pattern, control is very “loose” and relies on “visual” feed back by the operator. At this point, we should examine how this valv
