Abstract
<title>Background and aims

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour (CEOT) is a benign odontogenic neoplasm of epithelial origin that secretes an amyloid‐like protein tending towards calcification. This study aims to describe a case series from Iraq of one of the rarest odontogenic tumours.

Materials and methods

Clinical and histopathological analysis of Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour cases that are archived at the oral pathology laboratory of the college of dentistry (Baghdad University) from 2000 to 2019.

Results

Six cases of CEOT were regi

Background: Complement (C) & CRP in patients with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)'could be trigger disease activity.
Aim: To study the correlation between C, CRP, IgM,, IgG, IgA & some clinical presentation in RA patients.
Methods: Latex agglutination test(AG) & single radial immunoassay(SRIA) were used to asses CRP, IgMJgGJgA,, C, in 74 patients with RA.
Results: IgA & IgG were significantly increased, while the mean ofC3, C4 were slightly elevated in RA patients .
Conclusion: There is correlation between IgG and IgM with joint deformity and joint swelling respectively, while C3 was showed statistically significant P<0.01 with joint
stiffness, joint swelling and Rheumatoid nodule, whe

Molecular Microbiology in Clinical Practice: Current and Future Applications: Molecular Microbiology
...Show More Authors

Technological advances have yielded new molecular biology-based methods for the diagnosis of infectious diseases.  The newest and most powerful molecular diagnostic tests are available at regional and national reference laboratories, as well as at specialized centers that are certified to conduct metagenomic testing.  Metagenomic assays utilize advances in DNA extraction technology, DNA sequence library construction, high throughput DNA sequencing and automated data analysis to identify millions of individual strands of DNA extracted from clinical samples.  At present, metagenomic assays are only possible at a small number of special research, academic and commercial laboratories.  Continued research in human and path

Neonatal bacterial sepsis: risk factors, clinical features And short term outcome
...Show More Authors

Background: Neonatal infections are afrequent and important causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality especially in the developing countries.
Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the clinical picture, risk factors associated with neonatal sepsis and to estimate short term outcome from neonatal sepsis and its relation to birth weight, gestational age, onset of sepsis and type of bacteria.
Patients and Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 80 neonates presented with sepsis who had been admitted to intensive care unit in Children Welfare Teaching hospitals in Baghdad over six months period between (15th of January 2008 to 15th of June 2008).A thorough history and physical examination were carried out, and samples o

Orbital varices: Epidemiology, clinical presentation, and treatment outcomes – A scoping review
...Show More Authors
Background:

Orbital varices are vein dilations in the orbit presenting various symptoms. This scoping review synthesizes existing evidence on their epidemiology, clinical features, and treatment efficacy.

Methods:

Literature was reviewed according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. PubMed and Scopus were searched until April 31, 2024, for articles on clinically diagnosed ocular varices detailing diagnostic methods, treatments, and outcomes. Exclusions were reviews, animal studies, and incomplete case reports. Data on study characteristics, diagnosis, management, and o

The Application of Microwave Technology in Demulsification of Water-in-Oil Emulsion for Missan Oil Fields
...Show More Authors

A series of batch demulsification runs were carried out to evaluate the final emulsified water content of emulsion samples after the exposure to microwave. An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a set of operating variables on the demulsification performance. Several microwave irradiation demulsification runs were carried out at different irradiation powers (700, 800, and 900 watt), using water-in-oil emulsion samples containing different water contents (20-80%, 30-70%, and 50-50%) and salt contents (10000, 20000, and 30000 ppm). It was found that the best separation efficiency was obtained at 900watt, 50% water content and 160 s of irradiation time. Experimental results showed that microwave radiation method can

The present study has been conducted to evaluate the antialgal activities of
Tinospora cordifolia leaves extracts, these extracts included Terpens, Alkaloids, and
Phenols of that plant against 3 algal isolates: Anabaena circinalis, Scenedsmus
quadricauda and Mougeotia scalaris. The agar well diffusion method was used to
evaluate the inhibitory actions of these extracts with 3 concentrations: 5, 10, and 20
mg/ml. The experiments were conducted and analyzed as factorial experiments with
three replications using a completely Randomized Design, Means were compared
according to L.S.D. values at 5% significant level.
Results showed that A. circinalis was the most sensitive to alkaloid extract and

The Antibiofilm Efficacy of Gold Nanoparticles Against Acinetobacter baumannii
...Show More Authors

Acinetobacter baumannii is highly adapted to hospital environments, causing persistent chronic infections due to its ability to form biofilms. In this work, the antibiofilm activity of AuNPs with a subMIC concentration of 9.34 μg/ml was investigated by the microtiter plate method against 80 clinical isolates of A. baumannii. The results revealed that the biofilm was significantly (P< 0.05) reduced by 48.2 – 82.1%.
