Immunohistochemical evaluation of epidermal growth factor expression in skin wound treated by capparis spinosa flavonoid extract in alloxan induced diabetes rats
...Show More Authors

In diabetes, impaired wound healing and other tissue abnormalities are considered major concerns. Many factorsaffect the time and quality of wound healing. One of the purposes of medical sciences is wound healing in a short time withreduced side effects. The herbal products are more precious in both prophylaxis as well as curative in delayed diabetic woundhealing activity when compared to synthetic drugs.A wide range of evidence has shown that capers plant possesses differentbiological effects, including antioxidant, anticancer and antibacterial effects. Phytochemical analysis shows thatC. spinosahashigh quantities of bioactive constituents, including polyphenolic compounds, which are responsible for its health-promotingeffects. The healing response emerges subsequently to cells exposure to alarm signals once the skin barrier is disrupted. Thisresponse is ultimately commanded by growth factors (GFs), which act as soluble messengers, establishing a communicationnetwork among the different cells populations and with the extracellular matrix. EGF is produced by platelets, macrophages andfibroblasts and has a paracrine impact on keratinocytes. The expression of EGF at the wound site is highest during activeepithelialization and wound contraction and stimulates the development of granulation tissue.Assessment of immunohistochemicallocalization of EGFin skin wound treated byCapparis spinosa flavonoid extract in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.A total of 30healthy maleWistar rats weighing approximately 250-300 gm were used in this study. A surgical incisional wound with fullskin thickness of 1.5 cm length were done on facial skin of each rat, they were randomly divided into following groups: GroupA: (10 healthy rats) received daily local application of the plant extract. Group B: (10 alloxan-induced diabetic rats) receiveddaily local application of extract of the plant material. Group C: (10 alloxan –induced diabetic rats) where normal saline wasapplied locally instead of plant extract. Scarification of all animals was done for the healing periods (3 and 7 days), andspecimens were prepared for immunohistochemical analysis. The results revealed highest percentage of EGF stromal andepidermal expression noticed in groupA, and in group B respectively at day 7 withhighly significant differene between stromaand epiderms in groups B and C. Results obtained in this study showed that flavonoid rich extract ofCapparis spinosaenhanceswound healing process in diabetic rats (1) (PDF) IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL EVALUATION OF EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR EXPRESSION IN SKIN WOUND TREATED BY CAPPARIS SPINOSA FLAVONOID EXTRACT IN ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETES RATS. Effect of Testosterone Enanthate Modeling of Polycystic Ovary on Liver Irs-2 mRNA Expression in Rats: A Brief Report
...Show More Authors

There are many animal models for polycystic ovary (PCO); using exogenous testosterone enanthate is one of the methods of induction of these models. However, induction of insulin resistance should also be studied in the modeling technics. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the expression of insulin receptor substrate (Irs)-2 mRNA in the liver tissue of rat PCO model. Nineteen Wistar rats were divided into three groups; (1) PCO modeling group (N =7) received daily 1.0 mg/100g testosterone enanthate solved in olive oil along with free access dextrose water 5%, (2) vehicle group (N =6), which handled like the PCO group, but did not receive testosterone enanthate, (3) control group (N =6) with standard care. Evaluation of the Activity of Olibanum Oil as an Immune Booster in Rats
...Show More Authors

The applications of herbal medicine have recently acquired growing interest in range of the prophylaxis and treatment of diseases. Olibanum has been used since ancient eras and several reports studied the pharmacological characteristics of boswellic acid, particularly their effect on the inflammatory response, analgesic properties, and anti-arthritic activity mostly in cell lines, but new approaches include animal models to assess these natural derivatives effects taking into consideration of being safer than synthetic preparations.  The impact of olibanum oil on several parameters was studied in rats during this study. These included white blood cell (WBC) count, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and C reactive protein (CRP), as well a

Neuroprotective Assessment of Moringa oleifera Leaves Extract against Oxidative‐Stress‐Induced Cytotoxicity in SHSY5Y Neuroblastoma Cells
...Show More Authors

The current trend worldwide is searching plant extracts towards prevention of neurodegenerative disorders. This study aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of Alpinia galanga leaves (ALE), Alpinia galanga rhizomes (ARE), Vitis vinifera seeds (VSE), Moringa oleifera leaves (MLE), Panax ginseng leaves (PLE) and Panax ginseng rhizomes (PRE) ethanolic extracts on human neuroblastoma (SHSY5Y) cells. The 1‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging of VSE and MLE were 81% and 58%, respectively. Ferric‐reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) of ALE and MLE (33.57 ± 0.20 and 26.76 ± 0.30 μmol Fe(ΙΙ)/g dry wt., respectively) were higher than for the other extracts. Liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time‐of‐fli

Abstract<p>The research was conducted between 2017 and 2019 at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences and Laboratory of Plant Tissue Culture for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad. One experiment used a totally random design. The experiment examined the effects of PEG (Polyethylene glycol) at concentrations of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8% on the development of three sunflower types (Ishaqi-1, Aqmar, and AL-Haja) exposed to UV-C rays for 40 minutes as a result of the growing of the juvenile peduncle outside the live body. The aim of the study was to better comprehend the physiological and biochemical changes caused by water stress on the callus of several sunfl</p> ... Show More

In this study, the possible protective effects of daidzein on ifosfamide-induced neurotoxicity in male rats were examined by the determination of changes in selected oxidant–antioxidant markers of male rats’ brain tissue.

Twenty-eight (28) apparently-healthy Wistar male rats weighing (120-150gm) allocated into 4 groups (n=7) were used in this study. Rats orally-administered 1% tween 20 dissolved in distilled water/Control (Group I); rats were orally-administered daidzein suspension (100mg/kg) for 7 days (Group II); rats intraperitoneally-injected with a single dose of ifosfamide (500 mg/kg) (Group III); rats orally-administered for 7 days with the daidzein (100mg/

Background: Osteoarthritis is a chronic pathology of the joints causing disability and morbidity. Diacerein is a disease-modifying agent indicated for osteoarthritis management with enhanced performance and have much lower side effects profile than conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Oral administration of Diacerein is associated with a laxative effect, thus causing treatment discontinuation. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the activity of Diacerein novasome-based transdermal gel compared with standard oral treatment in the management of induced osteoarthritis in a rat model. Materials and methods: A single intra-articular injection of monosodium iodoacetate was administered to the left knee joint, resulting in the develop
