TERATOGENIC EFFECT OF METHOTREXATE ON HISTOGENESIS OF TESTIS IN NEWBORN RAT
...Show More Authors

Background: Methotrexate (MTX) was one of the first drugs synthesized for a specific chemotherapeutic purpose used to inhibit folic acid (FA) for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children. Its history is closely related to the discovery and characterization of folic acid. It is used clinically in medicine to treat a range of cancerous and noncancerous conditions. MTX is currently used in gynecology to treat disorders arising from trophoblastic tissue, namely, ectopic pregnancy. MTX, the most frequently used diseasemodifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD), suppresses disease activity and reduces joint damage. The aim of study: It is designed to demonstrate the effect of MTX (7.5 mg/wk.) on the histogenesis of gonad (testis) of newborn Albino rat. Material & Methods: Twenty pregnant female rats taken, classified equally to 10 control and 10 treated with MTX intramuscularly (first dose at day 15 of gestation and second dose at two day after birth). After normal vaginal delivery, newborns harvested at day seven. For histological study the newborn gonad (testis) were fixed in Bouin’s fixative, paraffin infiltration, and then embedded sections stained with haematoxylin and eosin, the specimens independently read. The result: The histological investigation showing atrophy of seminiferous tubules, increase interstitial space with reduce interstitial connective tissue and leydig cell, destruction of basement membrane, complete detachment of spermatogenic cell from basement membrane, atrophy of spermatogenic cell, swelling spermatogenic cell, degeneration sertoli and leydig cell, cell death, congested blood vessels and hemorrhage. The statistical analysis at day seven shown significant decrease (P<0.05) in newborn weight compared with control group. Highly significant increase (P<0.001) in diameter of testes. Significant decrease (P<0.01) in diameter of seminiferous tubules. Significant decrease (P<0.05) in numbers of spermatogenic cell in seminiferous tubules. The conclusion: The findings of the present study show that therapeutic dose of methotrexate is capable of producing histological changes in newborn’s testis at day seven

Study the Effect of annealing temperature on the Structure of a-Se and Electrical Properties of a-Se/c-Si Heterojunction
...Show More Authors

In this work Study effect of annealing temperature on the Structure
of a-Se and electrical properties of a-Se/c-Si hetrojunction have been
studied. The hetrojunction fabricated by deposition of a-Se film on c-
Si using thermal evaporation.
Electrical properties of a-Se/ c-Si heterojunction include I-V
characteristics, in dark at different annealing temperature and C-V
characteristics are considered in the present work.
C-V characteristics suggested that the fabricated diode was
abrupt type, built in potential determined by extrapolation from
1/C2-V curve. The built - in potential (Vbi) for the Se/ Si System
was found to be increase from 1.21 to 1.62eV with increasing of
annealing temperature

Abstract<p>The study was conducted at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences - University of Baghdad in 2022. It aimed to improve the growth of the European black Henbane plant (Hyoscyamus niger), leaf yield, and its content of the total alkaloids as effective medicinal secondary metabolite compounds by spraying with three levels of nano-nitrogen (N=46%) and three levels of nano-potassium (K = 50%)) is 1 gm L-1, 2 gm L-1, and 3 gm L-1, respectively, for each of these fertilizers, in addition to spraying with two levels of seaweed extract (Acadian) at a concentration of 2 and 3 ml L-1</p> ... Effect of Dietary Supplementation with Sources of Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids on Certain Blood Characteristics of Laying Quail
...Show More Authors

The objective of this experiment was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation with different fat sources on blood parameters of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Eighty four 7-week old laying quail were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups (21 birds per group) with 3 replicates for each treatment group and fed for three months on a commercial diet supplemented with 3% of either sunflower oil (T1), flax oil (T2), corn oil (T3) or fish oil (T4). The birds received water and feed ad libitum during the experiment. During the last month of experiment blood samples were collected fortnightly from each bird. The first blood samples collection was used to determine fresh blood parameters, while the second blood samples coll

Combined effect of fineness modulus and grading zones of fine aggregate on fresh properties and compressive strength of self compacted concrete
...Show More Authors

Self-compacted concrete (SCC) considered as a revolution progress in concrete technology due to its ability for flowing through forms, fusion with reinforcement, compact itself by its weight without using vibrators and economic advantages. This research aims to assess the fresh properties of SCC and study their effect on its compressive strength using different grading zones and different fineness modulus (F.M) of fine aggregate. The fineness modulus used in this study was (2.73, 2.82,2.9& 3.12) for different zones of grading (zone I, zone II& marginal zone(between zone I&II)) according to Iraqi standards (I.Q.S No.45/1984).Twelve mixes were prepared, each mix were tested in fresh state with slump, V-Funnel and L-Box tests, then 72

Objective Heavy metal pollution harms plants, so using biological methods to mitigate it is important. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi have been known to enhance mineral nutrition to plants, particularly uptake of comparatively immobile nutrients like phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu), and increase nitrogen uptake and water use efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Funneliformis mosseae inoculation in enhancing the growth and tolerance of Capsicum annuum L. under cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) stress conditions.Materials and methods The experiment was conducted over a period of 160 days using areplicated experimental design to evaluate the effects of Funneliformis mosseae under lead and cadmium stress.
