Coupling reaction of 4-aminoantipyrene with 8-hydroxyqunoline gave the new bidentate azo ligand 5-(4-antipyrene azo)-8-hydroxyqunoline. Treatment of this ligand with the following metals ions (MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII) in aqueous ethanol with a 1:2 M:L ratio yielded a series of neutral complexes of the general formula [M(L)2Cl2]. The prepared complexes were characterized using flame atomic absorption, FT.IR, UV-Vis spectroscopic as well as magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. Chloride ion content were also evaluated by (Mohr Method). From above data, the proposed molecular structure for these complexes as octahedral geometry.

A new attempt is made to determine diosmin (DIO) in its pure form and in dietary supplements by using spectrophotometric flow injection analysis (FIA) assay method conjugated with batch method. The analysis was achieved depending on the oxidative coupling reaction with N, N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine (DMPD) to form a green dye which is measured at wavelength of 677 nm. The tested methods were found to be economical, delicate, precise and sturdy. The validation variables of the batch and FIA methods gave linearity in the determination range of DIO (1-35) μg/mL and (5-120) μg/mL demonstrated calibration graphs with linearity coefficient  values of  r² =0.9989 and r² =0.9991, respectively. A new flow injection spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of copper ion Cu(II) in water samples (tap water and river water).The proposed method based on the formation of red complex [Cu(L)2(NO3)2] which has a maximum absorption at λmax=490 nm. Linear range for Cu (II) was from 5-70μg/mL with detection limit 2.55μg/mL.
