Coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian prediction of thermal and residual stress environments in dissimilar friction stir welding of aluminum alloys
...Show More Authors

The evaluation of residual stresses (RS) induced by the friction stir welding (FSW) process is crucial in anticipating the performance of the welded structure. The existence of such residual stresses within a friction stir welded structure may lead to excessive distortion and weakness to afford the applied external loads. To assess quantitatively the effect of these residual stresses generated by FSW process, the current paper implements a Coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian (CEL) finite element simulation to analyze both thermal and subsequent resulted remaining stress environments in dissimilar friction stir welding of AA6061-T6 and AA2024-T3 alloys. The thermal analysis step was conducted first and followed by a mechanical analysis step in which the residual stresses distribution throughout the whole dissimilar FSWed alloys were captured. To validate the simulation results, K-type thermocouples, in addition to A-type rosette strain gauges, were planted to measure both temperature history and residual stress field generated as a consequence of the thermal environment. The effect of changing FSW working variables like rotation and traverse speeds on both the thermal and residual stress environments was investigated. The obtained results demonstrated that the temperature, as well as the residual stress, was higher in the sample retreating side rather than the proposed advancing side, and a fair correlation between the experimental and simulation results was attained. Quantitatively, the longitudinal residual stress was higher in contrast to the transverse value, and it varied from being tensile in the zone beneath the tool shoulder to compressive away from the welding tool. Furthermore, the plastic strain produced owing to the surface contact between the welding tool and the dissimilar aluminum sample was higher on the retreating side.

INTERACTION EFFECTS OF HYDRODYNAMICALLY FULLY DEVELOPED PRIMARY FLOW AND SECONDARY FLOW IN THE THERMAL ENTRANCE REGION OF ANNULAR DUCT

Experiments have been conducted to study the local and average heat transfer by mixed
convection for hydrodynamically fully developed, thermally developing and fully developed
laminar upward air flow in an inclined annulus with adiabatic inner cast iron tube and uniform
heated outer aluminum tube with an aspect ratio ( Ω = 0.72) and (L/Dh≈40) for both calming and
test sections). A wide range of Reynolds number from 859 to 2024 has been covered, and heat
flux has been varied from 159 W/m2 to 812 W/m2 (these values of heat flux and Reynolds
number gave Richardson number range from 0.03 to 0.٣٨), with angles of annulus inclination
φ =0o (horizontal position), φ =60o (inclined position), and φ =90o (vertical posi

This study aims to study the effect of gout disease on complete blood picture and biochemical parameters and some non-enzymatic antioxidants, some tracing elements and lipid peroxidation ,in outpatients with gout disease at Al-Ramadi Teaching-Hospital ,Al-Razi Hospital and the study duration from Octo.2013-to May 2014.(50) blood samples were collected from patients with age groups (30-80 years) from both sexes (28 males,22 females),a (30) blood samples (15 males,15 females) were collected from normal individuals as a control group with age groups (27-75 years). Hematological measurement showed no significant differences in size compressed blood cells, the percentages in ( 45.15 +4.99 and 46.87+6.30) % in patient and control groups respect

stress and strain analysis for the prosthetic hand design actuated by links
...Show More Authors

Prosthetic hands are compensatory devices for the hand amputees as a result of injury, various accidents or birth deformities, types of prosthetic hand vary depending on the mechanism they operate and how they perform. There are common types in use that are characterized by their complex mechanisms, which are difficult for the amputee to use or exclude use because of their high cost, therefore the aim of this research is to design an artificial hand that is suitable in terms of simplicity of use and low cost and similar to a natural hand with regard to dimensions and shape that operated in the mechanism of links. This research involves Stress and strain analysis of the prosthetic hand and its fingers that modelled from (Petg CR)

Unleashing the cardioprotective potential of Ezetimibe against Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in Wistar rats: Targeting oxidative stress and NF-κB-mediated inflammation
...Show More Authors

Background Doxorubicin (DOX) is a potent antineoplastic agent used in treating various adult and pediatric cancers, but it tends to provoke dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. Ezetimibe (EZE), a cholesterol-lowering drug, has been reported to possess defensive actions against oxidative stress and inflammation, which are two of the main proposed mechanisms underlying the development of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC), hence, we aimed to inspect the possible protective effect of EZE against DIC in rats. Methods 24 adult male Wistar rats were allocated into four groups of six: control, DOX, 10 mg/kg EZE plus DOX and 20 mg/kg EZE plus DOX. At the end of the study, the experimental rats were anesthetized and blood samples were collected for b

Use of Flavonoids and Green Tea Extracts as Antioxidants Induced by Oxidative Stress: A Review Article
...Show More Authors

The aim of this work is to shed light on the importance of medicinal plants, especially those that have extracts that have a direct effect on human health. The study and identification of botany is necessary because human life has become closely linked to the life of plants as food. In addition to using plants as food, primitive man did not stop at this point, but rather developed their use to hunt prey and also used toxic plant materials in wars. With the passage of time, the ancient man was able to link the wild plants that cover the surface of the earth and the diseases that afflict him, so he used these plants or Parts of it are for treatment. A medicinal plant is defined as one or more of its parts that contain one or more chemicals in

Model Development for the Prediction of the Resilient Modulus of Warm Mix Asphalt
...Show More Authors

Increasing material prices coupled with the emission of hazardous gases through the production and construction of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) has driven a strong movement toward the adoption of sustainable construction technology. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) is considered relatively a new technology, which enables the production and compaction of asphalt concrete mixtures at temperatures 15-40 °C lower than that of traditional hot mix asphalt. The Resilient modulus (Mr) which can be defined as the ratio of axial pulsating stress to the corresponding recoverable strain, is used to evaluate the relative quality of materials as well as to generate input for pavement design or pavement evaluation and analysis. Based on the aforementioned preface, it is

Anatomical and physiological traits of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) seedling affected by salicylic acid and salt stress
...Show More Authors

A laboratory experiment was carried out at the College of Agriculture University of Baghdad in 2017. The aim was to improve the anatomical and physiological traits of broad bean seedling under salt stress by soaking it in salicylic acid. The concentrations of salicylic acid were 0, 10, and 20 mg L-1 and the electrical conductivity levels were 0, 3, and 6 dS m-1. The complete randomized design was used with four replications. The increasing of salicylic acid concentration up to 10 mg L-1 led to increasing the stem cortex thickness, stem vascular bundles thickness, and root cortex thickness significantly by (34.9,36.7,and 55 µm) respectively, while the treatment of 20 mg L-1 led to decreasing these traits by (28.2, 27.8, and 48.1 µm
