The present study aimed to assess the impact of seed Rhizobia treatment and potyvirus inoculation on bacterial nodulation and nitrogen fixation in cowpeas. The plants were infected with the virus two weeks post-germination. Nodules were present on the roots of plants treated with Rhizobia; however, almost no nodules were detected on untreated plants. The average number of nodules per plant on virus-inoculated plants was significantly lower than the average number per noninoculated plant. The virus caused a substantial decrease in the weight of nodules also. The study revealed that the presence of Rhizobia resulted in a significant rise in nitrogen content in the foliage. Groundwater is very important for different uses in the present study area which represents Jisr Diyala, located in southeastern Baghdad and covered with quaternary deposits which include the shallow aquifer in the area. Groundwater and surface water were investigated to determine their suitable uses. The main ion concentrations of the wet period seemed to be lower than those in the dry period. According to TDS values, the water is classified as brackish to salty with a high degree of hardness. Most of water samples were of NaCl type due to pollution with sewage water and rock-water interaction. The results show that the water of the study area is suitable for livestock and irrigation purposes only.

  Corrosion behavior of aluminium in 0.6 mol. dm-3 NaCl solution in acidic medium 0.7 was investigated in the absence and presence of different concentrations of amino acid, methionine, as environmentally – friendly corrosion inhibitor over temperature range (293-308)K. The investigation involved electrochemical polarization method using potentiostatic technique and optical microscopy, the inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in inhibitor concentration but decreased with increase in temperature.
