Iraq was occupied by Britain and northern Iraq came under British control. After a clash of interests between Britain and the Kurds, the Kurds confronted the British occupation with a series of uprisings, the most prominent of which was the uprising of Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hafid, which inflicted heavy material losses on the British.

Colonialism as a movement was very popular in Europe more than two centuries before. It aimed at controlling and exploiting several countries in Africa and Asia in addition to imposing their power and control on uninhabited islands. It received adherence and criticism as well. The phenomenon of negative behavior has studied as a social and psychological phenomenon that effect on the performance and life of workers inside and outside the organization.
