REMOVAL OF COPPER ION FROM WASTEWATER BY FLOTATION

Several industrial wastewater streams may contain heavy metal ions, which must be effectively removal
before the discharge or reuse of treated waters could take place. In this paper, the removal of copper( II)
by foam flotation from dilute aqueous solutions was investigated at laboratory scale. The effects of
various parameters such as pH, collector and frother concentrations, initial copper concentration, air flow
rate, hole diameter of the gas distributor, and NaCl addition were tested in a bubble column of 6 cm inside
diameter and 120 cm height. Sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and Hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide
(HTAB) were used as anionic and cationic surfactant, respectively. Ethanol was used as frothers and the

Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline copper sulfide powders

Nanocrystalline copper sulphide (Cu2-xS) powders were synthesized by chemical precipitation from their aqueous solutions composed of different molar ratio of copper sulfate dehydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) and thiorea (NH2)2CS as source of Cu+2, S-2 ions respectively, and sodium ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid dehydrate (EDTA) as a complex agent. The compositions, morphological and structural properties of the nanopowders were characterized by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The compositional results showed that the copper content was high and the Sulfur content was low for both CuS and Cu2S nanopowders. SEM images shows that all products consist of aggregate o

Biomechanical evaluation of porous titanium implants (CpTi) fabricated by powder technology

Background: It may be an important prospective clinical use of manufacturing of porous implant for clinical situations, such as cases of limitation in bone height, low bone density .The small segment of porous implant an effective osseointegration allows increasing in contact area provided for small segmented porous provided by its surface configuration. This study was done to Fabricate porous titanium implants by powder technology, as well as the observation of removal torque values of porous titanium implants compared to smooth titanium implants. Materials and methods: Twenty porous titanium implants (3.2mm in diameter and 8mm in length) were manufactured by powder technology using commercially pure titanium powder of ≤75um part

Abdominal Operations without Nasogastric tube :A major advance in modern surgery

Background: Routine use of nasogastric tubes, after abdominal operations, is intended to hasten the return of bowel function, prevent pulmonary complications, diminish the risk of
anastomotic leakage, increase patient comfort and shorten hospital stay. Aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of routine nasogastric decompression after abdominal surgery, in
achieving each of the above goals.
Patients and methods:Two hundred and twelve patients having abdominal operations of any type, emergency and elective have been followed prospectively over a period of three years (1st December 2004 until end of December 2007) in Baghdad teaching hospital. Patients were randomized into two groups. Group 1 had naso

Use of Thermostone Waste Aggregates for Internal Curing of Reactive Powder Concrete
Abstract
The concrete need curing for cement hydration that is a chemical reaction in each step require water supply throughout the time period. The traditional concrete cured by external method that prevents the concrete surface dry so that keeping the concrete mixture wet and warm. The internal curing was adopted in normal and high strength concrete such as reactive powder concrete. In present paper, experimental approach is to study the mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete cured internally with thermostone material. The materials that adopted to evaluate and find out the influences of the internal curing on the mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete is focused with d
... Show More

Studying of Some Mechanical Properties of Reactive Powder Concrete Using Local Materials

This research aims to investigate and evaluate a reactive powder concrete (RPC) cast using economical materials. Its mechanical properties were investigated and evaluated by studying the effects of using different cement and silica fume contents and locally steel fibers aspect ratios as reinforcement for this concrete. A compressive strength of about 155.2MPa, indirect tensile strength of 16.0MPa, modulus of elasticity of 48.7GPa, flexural strength of 43.5MPa, impact energy of 3294.4kN.m and abrasion loss 0.59% have been achieved for reinforced RPC contains 910 kg/m3 cement content, silica fume content 185 kg/m3 of cement weight and fiber volume fraction 2%. The water absorption values w

Efficiency Evaluation of Solar Concentrator without Tracking System Type of Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC)

It is useful to analyze any optical system theoretically before proceeding with its design in order to ensure the effectiveness of the design through computer simulations that are important and useful in designs for the ability to predict the performance of solar concentrator under any conditions. For this design, non-sequential ray tracing mode wasused in the Zimax program with a light source that simulated solar radiation. The purpose of the design of a compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) is to take advantage of the solar radiation that falls on it without the need for an efficiently tracked system within certain limits of the angle of solar radiation fall known as the acceptance angle.&nbsp
